Large Poke Bowl with Tuna and Yellowtail
    Anna L.

I got a large poke bowl with tuna and yellowtail, half and half greens with rice, and a soy dressed to go to eat at the park next door. It was around $26 and ended up being underwhelming. The sauce tasted like just pure soy sauce and was extremely salty without any other flavors. The tuna had no natural tuna taste and just tasted like salty soy sauce with a not so pleasant tuna texture. Yellowtail was a bit better in terms of natural fish flavor and texture. The greens were okay, kind of bitter and just dressed in lemon juice I'm guessing. Avocado was extremely minimal. This bowl left much to be desired, and I had a hard time finishing it even though I love poke usually. The price was pretty expensive and it also took 15/20 minutes to make even though there was only one other customer in the store. I would not recommend the poke, although their other menu items look better.

Came here in search of some fresh fish but left without buying anything. I felt like the quality of the fish wasn't up to par with some of the other places that I've visited and the pricing was definitely on the top end. Maybe I will give them another try in the summer season when there should be more local product. NOPA Fish in the Ferry Building is still by far the best quality product that I've found for seafood in the city and is the gold standard that I measure all other seafood spots by.

They say there are no kings but I saw the king salmon here

San Francisco has lots of seafood places all around the city. Walking through Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 there are so many places to grab seafood. You can also go around to the different restaurants in San Francisco and they also offer delicious seafood. The original dish native to San Francisco is the Cioppino . There are few places to grab this San Francisco classic . There is one place away from the waterfront which is seafood market and cafe which also serves this delicious Cioppino and it's on 24th street in Noe Valley. Billingsgate seafood market and cafe offers lots of different locally sourced fishes and dishes. You will find sushi rolls and poke. They also sell raw oysters and lobster. Since it's soup season I usually get is the Clam Chowder but I decided to try their Lazy Man's Cioppino. The flavor of the Lazy Man's Cioppino was so delicious. Since it's the Lazy Man's Cioppino all the theatrics of cracking shell fish it's already done before receiving the dish. I find all that Cioppino crab leg cracking usually is high maintenance like some around in SF. The Lazy Man's Cioppino had squid , octopus, mussels, and shrimp. I will be back for another bowl soon. Inside you will also find wine and champagne along with caviar. This is the spot to shop for seafood to go to cook at home or grab a cooked or raw seafood plate and enjoy it inside. You can go on 24th street in San Francisco and enjoy different seafood "dishes "that are "delicious "and "nutritious "and also fresh different types of "fishes" The seafood meat is fresh and "soft " and the soups have a tasty "broth " be careful because the Lazy Man's Cioppino can stain your" cloth " go on Tues- Friday 3pm- 5pm when Oysters & Cava is "50% off"

No visit to San Francisco is complete for us without a meal at Billingsgate. And so we found ourselves here 2 weekends ago right as they opened. Super fresh seafood, oysters galore, fine dining level presentation, very clean and bright interior with tasteful decor. The hamachi crudo and octopus carpaccio were absolutely delightful. I am quite sure I can just have 3 servings of the crudo and call it good. One day... The clam chowder was hearty and full of clams and seafood. Scallops were tasty but overshadowed by the other dishes. The glasses of cava reminded us we were on holiday :) There is a farmers market conveniently right beside the shop to walk a little after the meal. Try it for yourself!

Great oyster happy hour spot!! We love coming here on Friday for discounted oysters. Their seafood is fresh and the service is great. It's always the same fellas working and are always so pleasant. You can order fresh fish to go!

I'm met my friend here for the happy hour and we got some oysters--they were fresh and delicious! I came early and was super hungry, so I got the avocado roll in the meantime which hit the spot. The people working there were also super chill and easy to talk to which I appreciated! It seems like they have a cool crew there. Anyway, don't sleep on this spot. It is a gem with a wide high-quality selection.

The server was super nice and quick to help us when we were unsure of what to order. Ordering both items, poke bowl and clam chowder was good enough for my friend and me. Unfortunately, i have to rate this place low because the clam inside the clam chowder was not clean. The clam still had some sand or dirt inside. Poke bowl was not bad. Just a bit underwhelming for me.

Some of the freshest seafood around. There's so many options! Fresh crab, lobster, oysters, clams, and fish! If you're in the mood for seafood this place hits the spot. I didn't try the clam chowder but it smelled amazing! Nestled in the heart of noe valley. Quaint and clean restaurant with friendly and attentive staff.

If you're a seafood lover, Billingsgate is a must-visit in the heart of Noe Valley, SF. The space is clean with a touch of elegance, perfect for a solo outing or a small group catch-up. What instantly catches the eye is the gorgeous display of fresh seafood on ice. It looks so good you'll want to order everything. Whether you're in the mood for a full meal or picking out your own cuts by the pound, Billingsgate makes it easy. The bonus? A thoughtfully curated wall of wines, premium pastas, spicy hot sauces, and sides that take your seafood experience to another level. I ordered the Billingsgate Poke, and I can't stop thinking about it. Yellowfin tuna over sushi rice, dressed in a rich soy-sesame blend, with creamy avocado, toasted nori, cilantro, scallions, sesame seeds, and a touch of chili flakes. It's served with a chilled fork that somehow makes every bite even better. Cold, bold, and beautifully balanced. This dish is a knockout. The staff sealed the deal. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. If you're serious about seafood, Billingsgate is not just a place to eat. It's a place to savor. A short review really doesn't do it justice.

SUMMARY: Incredibly fresh food, attention to detail, amazing decor, friendly and helpful staff!!! We arrived here right when happy hour started; luckily we ended up being the only ones there. Billingsgate is in a great location to walk around before or after your meal. First impressions upon walking in was being greeted by the friendly staff and seeing the clean and simple interior. We came here for the happy hour oysters but ended up ordering much more, which turned out to be a phenomenal decision because everything was so good. Put this place HIGH on your list of places to try! Here's what we ordered with some tasting notes. Common theme is how fresh everything tasted: MIYAGI OYSTERS -As fresh as they come -Paired with great sauce -Must go for happy hour POKE -Fresh fish -Ginger scallion, tuna and salmon -Comes with avocado CLAM CHOWDER -Clammy & Creamy -Subtle bacon flavor, not overpowering -Loaded with ingredients. Fresh and well balanced LAZY MANS CIOPINNO -Enticing smell -Smokey and roasted, rich taste -Every individual ingredient was flavorful -Medley of seafood Misc notes: -Clean bathroom -Nice decor and details -Good music -Chilled water glasses

Walking into this place felt like entering a fancy fish market. They offer sit-down meals, take-away options, and cuts of the most divine seafood. We enjoyed a poke bowl, which was delicious but lacked diversity and crunch. I wish there were more toppings and that the price was more reasonable.

Service was really nice. Food was tiny and not very good. Probably better to buy fish here then eat dinner.

Did some research.. I'm a private Chef in the Bay Area. Trying to find a great seafood market can be.. difficult. This place made me happy, especially being a seafood chef. I came in during Happy Hour.. Which I would highly recommend because oysters are half off during this time. Not only can you get some super fresh fish but you can also sit down and enjoy their beautiful menu while you wait for them to finish the work that you asked them to do! So I was trying to get some seabass and they had some beautiful seabass from Baja.. I exclaimed my situation to them which was that I needed 10 six ounce portions and they gave me options - including being able to break down a fresh bass while I wait. So I ordered food while I waited! Besides getting excellent customer service, got to watch the fish being prepared, while I enjoyed some super fresh St. Simon oysters, scallop ceviché, and a cup of clam chowder. So I'm feeling good because I'm watching the fish being prepped, and then I'm also seeing my food being prepared right in front of me.. There is no mystery, no questions to be asked.. You see exactly what you get! Amazing service, amazing quality, people that are happy and pay attention to detail... Fresh selection and great tinned fish/imported goods like matsutake shoyu! Highly recommend for so many reasons. Cute, personable, quality.. The only place that I want to get my fish from from now on!

    Happy hour!!!

I did find a place where no meat would be available in SF . Once I started thinking of this place I started to map out hella meal possibilities with me creating dishes like San Francisco's native dish Cioppino and also making some salmon dishes along with some okay shrimp dishes like fried shrimp, skewer shrimps on the barbie, and scallop ceviche. The real feast on Good Friday would be getting the Dungeness Crab paired with some garlic noodles . This place has been a Mission District seafood institution and it's called Sun Fat Seafood company ( a former employee started Basa Seafood Express on 24th street). On a Spring stroll on Mission street between 22nd and 23rd streets I went inside a fresh seafood market. Inside you will see live lobsters in a tank. You will also see Dungeness Crab during crab season and also find of variety of fresh oysters selection along with scallops. You will also see sushi rolls when available along with different types of fishes. It was easy to peel, a much better deal than the crab cocktail which is more expensive and gives you less crab. They give you free bread and butter, which was perfect to fill you up. Sicilian sashimi was unique and fresh, even ordering the small portion had a surprising amount of variety.

The seafood is incredibly fresh, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. We had the oysters, sashimi, and salad with combination sea food, and everything was simple but done right. The Dungeness crab was definitely the highlight-sweet, tender, and perfectly prepared. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Sitting at the bar and watching everything being prepared right in front of you creates such a personal and authentic experience. Our server was exceptional, full attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. However, it wasn't my absolute favorite overall. The space is very small and can get quite loud, and depending on when you go, the wait can be long. It's also definitely more about tradition and quality than ambiance. Still, it's a must visit at least once if you're in San Francisco. It's not about luxury.. it's about history, freshness, and character.
