I contracted Merced to install an irrigation system and paid in full on September 12. I notified the company and, as of October 5, stopped receiving responses. Mid-project I raised concerns that the work wasn't being performed correctly and was assured it would be fixed and covered by a six-month warranty. Despite that, the system continued to leak--twice more after October 5. A second irrigation company inspected the installation and reported: Control valves were not installed in the order we agreed. The system lacked a proper backflow prevention device, which they advised is required for compliance in Texas. Although Merced stated he is licensed in Texas, he has not provided a license number despite multiple requests. Given the repeated failures, lack of response, and the issues identified by another professional, I've tried to request a refund from both Thumbtack and Merced. This experience has cost me significant time and money.

Details: I set up an initial consultation appointment for the afternoon with this company to do some backyard deconstruction work. The day they were supposed to come, I got a call asking if they could come earlier, within 20 minutes of the call because, in his words, "that would be more convenient for them." I said, "Please wear a mask while on the property." The contractor responded with, "Okay." I tried to be flexible, moved my schedule around, and began waiting. No one showed up after 40 minutes. I called again, and this time the contractor said that he wasn't coming because his company didn't require employees to wear a mask, and they didn't want to take the contract as a result. He never called me to inform me of this change after he spoke to his company. I had to call him after waiting for 40 minutes for him to show up. He never apologized. Also, we're still in a pandemic. If someone asks you to take precautions while you're on their property, you be a decent person and do that. He would have just ghosted me after I moved things around upon his request. Conclusion: Clearly, this company is unprofessional- they don't respect a potential client's time or health. The company said, "I should look elsewhere." Yeah, duh- why would I give them my money?
