What caught my eye was the cool split cup, but I wasn't impressed with the boba here. I drink boba a hell of a lot, so I know what all kinds of boba taste like. I ordered a Tiger Tea, which was the split cup with half Thai tea and half milk tea. There weren't many options for the split cup which disappointed me, so I had to go with one or the other. But what I don't understand is how a boba shop could mess up a simple milk tea. It tasted very watered down, and lacked flavour. I have to say this is the best Boba North of LA and South of San Jose haha. Yup such a big distance. I think since the Oxnard Blvd location opened, I must have bought atleast 112 milk teas from here. You can do the math and figure out how much I spent. Everyone here is very friendly and I think they can guess what I'm going to order when I walk in... Something along the lines of 3 or 4 large milk teas. In addition to the drinks, they have a wall full of notes from customers and a really nice but GIANT fish tank. You can buy a Vegas style yard cup full of milk tea. I think they have shirts and a hat for sale but I'm not sure. Overall, I walk into the place happy and walk out much happier, and that's not because my drinks were drugged or anything.... well... maybe it is.... that might explain why I go back waaaaay tooo often. read more

I come from a land where there is a boba shop on every corner, a land full of asians. By this, I mean the 626 area in Los Angeles lol. So I know a thing or two about boba, tea, and the likes. This has been the ONLY boba place I have ever gone to that serves cotton candy flavored boba. Just based on the sound of it, I didn't know how authentic this place was going to be so I opted for a vietnamese iced coffee instead. Not the best quality of french roast but the drink is ok. My gf's mango green tea was ok. Too sweet and can hardly taste the tea. In my opinion, the tea should be the star while the flavoring should be very subtle but noticeable. To be fair, this was the closest boba tea place within a 10 mile radius of where we were so I guess this place is ok for what it is, where it is. I decided to give Big Straw Boba another try tonight, but decided to get the taro milk tea instead of my regular milk tea boba to avoid disappointment. I've gone there regularly for over a year. On some days where I would be too overworked to want to eat, I would go in for something that I knew was easy on my stomach. The shop owner is very nice. There's a couple of employees out of the bunch who go out of thwir way and love to offer out a sample taste of recommended flavor mixes if you are uncertain about it. Coffee-avocado?! That's gro-*sip*....I'll take a large. I've rarely had a drink mixed that tasted off. Maybe 1 out of every 40+ I've ordered. If you speak up about it and politely say, "Hey, this is really bland." Or "Ugh! I don't know if it's just me or this didn't get mixed well!" *icky face* They will 99.99% of the time offer to redo it for you. But I can't stress enough that they do allow you to have a little sample cup sized taste test before you order it. I try not to abuse that option since other shops have either never asked me or just don't offer to do that. If something is off and an employee doesn't seem helpful. I simply come back when the owner or more helpful employee is working a shift and politely inform them about whatever it is that might have urked me. They listen. Maybe because I'm polite and go there regularly. But the point is that it is worth giving this place a go. Even if boba isn't normally your thing. You can ask for them to not add the boba. :) read more

Yummy!! I have only tried the taro flavor and I love it! A lot of boba places load up their drinks with tons of sugars and sweetners to the point that you feel like you're drinking sugar. Based on taro that I tried, they don't make them too sweet which is a huge plus for me! I can definitely taste the flavor. Consistency of the boba is just right.
