We were staying at the Marriott Marquis for a convention and we ate at Biggio's multiple times. The first time we ordered takeaway at the bar and the food was out pretty quickly. The second time they had "stopped" doing takeout but boxed up our food so we could get it to go, which we appreciated although we waited quite a long time. The third time we ate in the restaurant and the server was nice and attentive. I had the honey chicken sliders, the loaded nachos, and the beer pretzel with cheese throughout our stay. My friends also ordered the bowl of chili and pork sliders. Everything we ate was really good. We wanted to watch the play offs for basketball, but the Astros were playing as well. Upon being seated we were not acknowledged for about 20 minutes. I was completed blown away once I entered Biggio's! It is attached to the ground floor in the Marriott Marquis Houston downtown. Unless you can find a spot on the street it is valet parking here and its $10. When you arrive there is a hostess at the door to direct you to the seating areas which are many. To the left of the door was a comfortable seating area with couches . If you turn to the right there is a long bar with many TV's mounted above them. Some are extremely LARGE! We sat to the right in the dining area where there were tables and chairs. We were here to view the Rockets game and it was shown on a movie theatre size screen with another game above it on the same size screen. The players looked life sized on that screen! We ordered some food which is a little pricey but with a place like this it's expected.The drinks were strong enough though. Its a high end sports bar so... We were also lucky enough to meet 2 of Craig Biggio's sons sitting at the table in front of us along with Ken Caminiti's daughter. They were more than gracious to take a few pics with us and hold an extended conversation. They were so down to earth. He has done a great job raising them. I came for a group happy hour with colleagues on a recent afternoon. The space is great for happy hour and watching sports. I liked the two levels and very comfy couches and chairs downstairs. I love the beautiful hotel it's in! It feels like a little Vegas hotel. And I really like how clean and pleasant the area now feels. Service was pretty good for a group of our size. Drinks were very good and I liked their cocktail list, although we opted for margaritas that were tasty and had just the right kick. Re food, the pretzel was fabulous and enormous! I've had the pretzel here, which is about the size of Texas itself....it's that big...and the pulled pork BBQ sandwich. Both were good meals and reasonably priced for being inside a luxury hotel. Although the Yelp review wasn't that great, we decided to risk it. So glad we did!!! Our waiter, Brent gave impeccable service, and we went with his recommendations. Front staff was so horrible, leaving us feeling so uncomfortable we ended up leaving almost immediately. Shortly after arriving and being seated at a table in the middle of the room, our host disappeared to get us silverware. While continuing to stand and not wanting to dirty a clean table, another host saw us standing and asked if we needed help. When we asked for a booth as my son can be disruptive if feeling like everyone is watching him (hence the middle table that we tried to change) We asked for a booth. The second hostess said that our party of three cannot sit in the booth as they are for only 6 or more. At that time only one party was seated at the booths but the host assured us that they planned for a busy day and that they cannot give us a booth. They could however give us a tall table, so we took it with hesitation because of my son falling out of the tall seat. Once seated I realized there was water marks on the table from glasses, which meant the table was actually dirty! Then looking back after realizing the dirty table and looking for the host I noticed the party that was currently seating in the booth area was only a party of 3!!!!! At that time a drink server came by to drop off waters to the table, who was actually the only decently nice person in there that could tell something was wrong. I feel he sent the server Ashlee over right away and while I tried to ignore how upset the host situation frustrated me and my husband I decided I'm not comfortable staying. I have never walked out of an establishment before, I have never felt so uncomfortable. I hope that management better trains their employees to make their customers feel welcomed! If this review was solely based on food, I would definitely go 4 stars; however, the service was uncomfortably slow at the bar and lacked any real consideration for the guest. The bartender, when asked if the beer was colder in a bottle or through draft responded with an annoyed expression "I don't know..." seriously, at least humor someone. Not to mention, no one was in a rush to even acknowledge guests as they were coming up to order at the bar , it was uncomfortable trying to get a bartenders attention. Once we sat down, those drinking in our 4 person party waited a long time with each drink ordered. Our waitress was ok, she tried hard at least but drinks came out slow, water wasn't filled and time between visits were longer than expected. The food was good though, not worth the mediocre service, but tasty. We had the chicken Caesar salad, chicken and waffles, wild boar mac and cheese and a mushroom burger . Ate at Biggio's for the first time tonight- I am a local Hustonian staying here for a girlfriend's birthday- and I am impressed. The restaurant is beautiful, and the food was amazing (fish tacos, chopped salad, and Caesar were all to die for!). Ask for Abad, such a great server! I asked him multiple times on remembering our drink order, and he got it right (we had a specific drink we were going for) and our order was perfect- we had a lot of special requests. 9/10 recommend- not a perfect ten, because it is not Tris in the Woodlands. I held out on visiting Biggio's during it's first few months of operation to allow them time to work out the kinks. I'm glad I did because my experience was much better than those mentioned in the earlier reviews. I stopped by during Game 5 of the NBA finals. The number of screens here is overwhelming, but in a good way. We got there in adequate time to find a decent seat near the large screen on the second floor. By tip off, it was completely packed. Our server was very attentive and personable. My gf and I shared the nachos with the bison chili on the side. I'm lactose intolerant, so when I roll the dice on meals with dairy it better be worth it. Long story short, I almost licked the plate. The bar and kitchen were slow getting orders out, but other than that I had no complaints. I live in the area, so I will definitely return during football season. read more

A huge, impressive facility! The ambience is fun, casual and perfectly "downtown." You can watch any sporting event from your table--the MLB Home-Run Derby for us that night! (Super bummed that the Astros weren't in town). The food was perfect bar food and the service was very sweet. We all enjoyed our food and especially loved the perfectly crispy fries. The burger was the size of my face and was really nicely cooked, and the fries were my absolute favorite, making it hard to stop eating when I should have. Food: Tex-Mex burger with pepperjack cheese, guacamole, bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce: I had asked for the beef patty medium rare and it came out juicy, slightly red in the middle, and tasted so fresh. The bottom bun got a little wet with the meat juice and oil, but, given that it was a brioche bun, it held up really well. Fries: Although the fries were a side, they were so good that I can see myself craving them when I move back to Boston. They were a medium-thick cut, fresh, and made with a rough batter with little crumbs which meant the fries were extra crispy. They were so good! I am very disappointed in this place. My boyfriend and I have tried coming here twice now and both times we had to leave. The first time we came we asked to sit at a table in the area with the big tvs, there were plenty of tables open but were told there would be a wait because of the kitchen being backed up. We said no problem and sat at the bar because we were told the hostess would come get us when things cleared up. I had to get up three times (over the span of 45 minutes) and ask if we could sit after I saw her bringing other people to tables in that area. She never did end up seating us and proceeded to avoid eye contact every time she brought other people to tables. We ended up just staying at the bar and ordering food. I should have learned my lesson after that but we came back two weeks ago for a big college football game on Saturday. We had invited a group of 6 people and my boyfriend and I were the first ones there. The main dining room by the tv's was EMPTY. Maybe two or three two tops but again the hostesses would not seat us until 5 of us were there. So we went to the bar and ordered drinks. Knowing that this is a "sports bar" we assumed they would turn the sound on for the main tv. WRONG, I asked one of the servers if they do and he scoffed at me and proceeded to tell me they don't turn the sound on here. What is the point of calling yourself a sports bar if you don't turn the sound on for the major games. Needless to say I am glad the hostess didn't seat us or we probably would have ordered food and more drinks and then would have been stuck here.
