Neither the restaurant nor the food are fancy but you can't beat the price. I ordered pork organs won ton noodles and my husband ordered a rice dish with roast pork and roast duck. The portions were a little smaller than they used to be but it is still really inexpensive and a bargain. Instead of 6 won tons my soup had only 5. The filling was tasty but uneven in that the pork and shrimp filling want even in the won tons. Some won tons had no shrimp. It is still the place to go for an inexpensive Cantonese meal. My husband said his roast pork and roast duck were both good and he got a lot of meat.

I've always been a big fan of Big Wong due to its fried dough rice noodle rolls, but wow this is Exhibit A as to not how to operate a business in Chinatown. They have and probably will also be cash only. Service is non existent however you'd hope because of that, the food or other factors would make up for this and lately, such is not the case. Came here during the holidays because realistically what is even open nowadays when the majority of the city has left? We ordered: Fried dough rice noodle rolls (for $5 still this is a deal!) Seafood pan fried noodles Beef pan fried noodles They try to fit as many people as possible, so expect to sit with randos and hear tidbits of conversations. You would think because they want to get people in and out they'd be attentive on taking your order, but that's also not the case. I'd recommend scoping out the menu ahead of time before arrival, so when you do get seated you can just order. A couple literally sit at our table yet we noticed they had a couple failed attempts at getting someone's attention to place their order. With rude service-they don't even refill your cup, less than clean cutlery, they somehow expect you to tip well...which I would push back on as this is less of a quality service spot to tip 10%+ above. Even if you do tip well it's not like they'll remember you and provide an even better service when you're back!!

Y'all, if you really want drunk eats or something, then maybe go here, but otherwise this place is NOT worth wasting your money here. We were hungry and we thought that this was gonna be a solid stop, but we were grossly wrong. Also, their bathroom was downstairs and fully flooded so we couldn't even use the bathroom. I would not come back here.

It's been almost 5 years since I stepped backed into Chinatown. Boy, have I missed it. I was determined to have my first bite here. I've been going to this place since I was young, and just like all the other times I've eaten here, it did not disappoint. The service is good and efficient. Once you enter, just go ahead and find a spot to sit - a waiter will notice you and confirm how many guests you have. The place is spacious. I ordered: Stewed beef brisket, tendon & wontons with noodles soup: 10/10 - the brisket was tender, the tendon was DELISH, and the wontons had good filling with thin skin. I always ask for chili oil to go with it. Roast pork with white rice (no sauce; added a fried egg for $1 extra): 10/10 - this is my #1 favorite comfort dish. The roast pork was nice and juicy. I ask for no (soy) sauce because I usually don't like any type of sauce over my rice. Shredded pork with pickled cabbage over rice: 8/10 - the portion was huge, and the taste was delicate. The pickled cabbage did not overwhelm the dish, and the shredded pork was tender. Sweet fried dough: 10/10 - this is the only place that makes this in Manhattan Chinatown. I simply can NOT leave without getting one.

It's a bit run-down, but this is Cantonese comfort food at its very best. Staffers with the front BBQ meats, congee, noodle and dumpling soups, rice noodle dishes, and more. Menu available all day and late into the night for the cravings. Street parking like most Chinatown places. Staff are brisk and get right to the point. Good fried crullers and the bbq meats looked really good. Rice noodles were cheap, and just the right texture with the fried cruller and shrimp versions were good.

We were so hungry and this is probably the place that does not have a line. We ordered the rice meal bbq pork, roast duck and we love it! Love the roast pork too. They give you lots of rice. We ate all the meat and it's good! Customer service? Dont expect too much niceness but they serve you fast. The place is ok. The restroom is in the basement. I would still be coming back if i want to eat.

Came here with my friends after a race. One of my friends had been here before and loved it so we all came. I thought the place was super small but there is more seating towards the back. The smell of food greets you when you walk in. We were seated promptly and the menus were already at the table. We ordered egg rolls but they were out so we ordered spring rolls instead and they come as 2, hot fresh and crispy. Two thumbs up. Next we ordered the beef crepe and that was also yummy. For the main course we got the beef egg noodles and the pork chop. Both were so full of flavor and delicious. But the pork chop let me tell you fried to perfection. I could have skipped everything else just to get it. Prices are inexpensive and the food comes out super fast. Will definitely be back!!

Tried this place after seeing it all over Xiaohongshu, but honestly, it was a huge letdown. The moment I walked in, there was an unpleasant smell. The only good part was the generous portion size. The roast meats looked decent but tasted far from fresh -- the skin was chewy, the seasoning bland, and the rice was dry and underwhelming. The service? Let's just say I've never seen someone act like I owed them a favor for asking for soy sauce. And yes, they charge you before handing you the food, then act like they're doing you a favor. If you're looking for good Cantonese food in NYC, I'd say skip this one.

Party of 2 on a Saturday at 2pm With an A rating showing on the outside window we decided to stop for lunch. We were seated quickly and brought menus. From there it was all downhill. The little old man taking our order was impatient as we perused the menu to decide what we wanted. There was no asking questions. So we order something simple: a) won ton soup and b) chicken lo mein. Meh, nothing special. The waiter never came by to see if we needed anything. I would have like some chili oil as the food was bland. But oh well, we didn't get it. Prices were too high for the amount of food and presentation. We don't need to eat here again when in Chinatown.

A classic staple that my family and I go to everytime we go to NY as we all like something. Known for their congee and hanging meats on rice, you can't go wrong with the portions and price. Service can be spotty but honestly that's expected. The place is a little run down but the food makes up for it. Service and food do come quick too.

She ate both of these orders.

It's been a while since I last came to this place. I stopped by with my lil sis a couple of weeks ago. The servers are a little bit rough around the edges at first, but they warm up to you if you're nice to them. Also, they always get the orders right. Their dishes taste amazing even though we sometimes see a thumb in our bowls. The atmosphere is like a typical Chinese restaurant with tables and chairs. I would still come back to this place, but maybe for takeout.

I got chicken congee and preserved egg congee delivered from here when I was sick and it was great. The portions are good and the congee is full of protein. I also loved their lemon tea. I would love to come by and check out their restaurant in-person sometime.

This is the spot if you're looking for a traditional Chinese breakfast! My partner and I were craving congee. We got to the restaurant at 10AM and the restaurant was already half full. Everyone had a bowl of congee to themselves so we knew we were in good hands. We got a hot and silky smooth bowl of preserved egg and salty pork congee along with fried dough stick. We ordered a plate of beef rice roll and an order of the pork with crispy skin. Every item was so satisfying and kept us warm on a cold winter day. You cannot go wrong if you order any of these items! This is a no frills restaurant. The servers and workers were very fast and efficient. The food came out amazingly quick and fresh. The chefs were pumping out congee by the cauldrons!

How much is a whole roast duck? How much for the succulent roast pork?

    When are they reopening?

    They reopened September 2nd.

Are they open for indoor dining now?

I saw all the staffs are working at Sun Sai Gai at 220 canal street. I went there today and very surprised they moved there.

Is this place still open? I've been calling the number because I want to pick up food but the number is out of service.

they are open for take out

Does this restaurant offer any vegetarian options? Thanks :)

There safe vegetable dishes, but the menu is predominantly meat and carbs

Is this restaurant good for large groups, like 10 to 15 people?

It is not geared for groups that size. Even for 10 people separate tables would be required. If I remember there were only 2 tables that would sit 6 or 7 comfortably. Now, if most of the participants were of a thin frame you might be able to fit… Read more

My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.
