My wife and I were looking forward to great BBQ tonight based on what we have read. We were incredibly disappointed the ribs were room temperature and didnt taste very good at all the pulled pork was room temperature and was OK the brisket was warm and was OK the beans were hard to eat they were so overpowering of vinegar the mac and cheese was good My wife said she had a bad taste in her mouth for a while after the dinner read more

Super tasty bbq & sides. Brisket had excellent bark and pulled pork was perfection --Family Combo

The pulled pork plate with side of sweet potato salad and coleslaw was amazing. It was easy to order online and navigate the website. Menu had a large variety, can't wait to try their other dishes. read more

Love their bbq and appetizers as it's a challenge to find genuine bbq locally in Whatcom county. The brisket is spot on and the pork belly bites are the beeeeest with a beer. Highly recommend. read more

Linda A., your responses are hyper emotional and out of line. Trying to smear a customer by writing paragraphs of hate is wildly unprofessional. I encourage you to look at all of your non-5 star responses and get a clue, you can't possibly accept the fact that your kitchen makes mistakes. The fact is you served over-cooked product and revel in fighting customers. read more

Stumbled upon this gem while they were parked outside of Fringe brewery in Ferndale. I opened yelp to check the score and 5* speaks for itself. I began by bombarding them with questions like "where are you from?" And "where did you learn to cook BBQ," feeling like a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur. They responded with Bellingham, and YouTube, so I was a tad bit skeptical. But from the first bite I was awestruck. Pulled pork and slaw sliders on Great Harvest rosemary sliders, amazing. The pork is moist as is, but the slaw adds a great bit of sweetness, crunch and has this hint of citrus that was very pleasant. 3 for $11 is a steal! We also got the brisket sandwich, their brisket is a Star. Perfectly cooked, moist, yet not falling apart so it holds up well on the bun. Their Mac and cheese is delicious. It's has a small bit of mild green chilies in it, and multiple cheeses, it tastes and feels like something grandma would have been whipping up back in the day. The absolute star however is the pork belly burnt ends. Oh dear god. Get 6, share with a friend. They are life changing. Smoky, Crispy, fatty, and amazing. Best thing is everything is local or homemade. Can't wait to come back!! read more

I tried the food truck at Stemma, so this review is for that location. My opinion, it's just OK and had some odd flavors. The pros: -value for price: the one person sampler plate is what I got and it was a good deal for the amount of food. -the Mac and cheese had good flavor, though the Mac was over cooked so it didn't hold together and was mashed into the sauce. -the ribs were good and meaty The Cons: -the pulled pork was very very salty. The small sampler size was too much salt and I'm glad I didn't get a pulled pork sandwich or I probably wouldn't have been able to eat it. -the baked beans were not what I expected and had an odd flavor to me. Vinegar I think. -the bbq sauces were unlike any I've had. I did not care for the flavor but someone else might. So yeah maybe try it out and see if this unique flavor profile is for you, but it wasn't what I was looking for in a bbq joint. read more

First time dining there yesterday . We were very impressed with the food and the portion sizes . We both had brisket plates , and loved every bite . A rarity , absolutely nothing on the plate to criticize . The brisket was right on point , tender and moist , w/ very little fat . We were stuffed when we left . Great bang for the buck . I'm looking forward to trying the ribs next time or maybe that Texas Rueben . Nice guy behind the counter . I can't judge the service in general since it was around 2:30 , we were the only ones in there . read more

I have actually eaten here before and whilst the food was pretty OK... (wasn't worth a review to write how good or bad it was - it was pretty middle line BBQ) I will not be returning purely due to the comments being left by the owner. I cannot believe how unprofessional the owner is - the entire point of YELP is for customers to leave reviews (good or bad) and as an owner I would assume you may want to use the bad reviews as a learning opportunity for you and your business. Really unsettling and honestly disturbing to imagine an owner choosing to be rude and petty over negative reviews... bleh! read more

Best BBQ in the county! I LOVE BBQ!!! It's in my Southern blood :) I've tried every BBQ joint in the county, and this is the only one I've gone back to. And I'll return again, and again, and again...you get the picture :) They've also updated their coleslaw to a more traditional, crunchy cabbage slaw that will be a hit on the pulled pork (the previous slaw was not going on my BBQ; this one will)! The beans are different from what I'm used to but tasty nonetheless, and the Rosemary roll is definitely BBQ-worthy. Y'all give Big Stick a try and you'll see what all the fuss is about! PS: I would have posted a pic of the ribs but couldn't stop eating them once I started...maybe next time ;) read more

Neighborhood joint we ride bikes to. Good food, fun atmosphere and the stems truck is awesome too. Personally I like food a lot here and the staff is very nice. Place has a great vibe. read more

We each ordered combo plate and the Texas Reuben. The best bbq I have had to date. Tender pork, ribs delicious. Brisket tender and spicy. Cole slaw perfect sauce and awesome. The beans were sweet, spicy, vinegary, never tasted beans like that and have to say so yummy! Rosemary buns from owners own recipe. It's a bbq place so expect no waitresses, fancy ambiance, just American food at its best. Definitely returning! read more

I heard good things about this place from the reviews, so I decided to try it. Loved the brisket, burnt ends and pork. Is So tasty, easily recommended! read more

What a great little surprise! Fun lively amazing staff and most important great food.

I had the combo plate from the food truck at Stemma. The brisket, pulled pork and beans were decent, but were cold. The slaw was way too citrusy and didn't care for the rosemary roll. I'll give the restaurant a try next time, but probably stay away from the truck unless I've had a few beers. read more

Disappointing. Was looking for some traditional BBQ and instead it felt more like a fusion gone wrong. If you want traditional bbq, keep looking. read more

Love this place. We've gotten food here 4 or 5 times, always take-out. The ribs are fantastic. I love the fact that they do not sauce the ribs, and they don't use a heavy dose of rub either. I'm kinda picky about sauces and rubs, so I love that they amazing flavor of the meat and smoke are allowed to shine without interference. I actually prefer to eat the ribs unadorned. The macaroni and cheese is also extremely good. The rolls are too. The pulled pork is delicious as well. I'm not a brisket person, but hubby likes the brisket. But it's the ribs that bring us back over and over. read more

Pay when you order so be sure to get enough to satisfy your appetite or you'll be putting multiple charges on your card. And $3 for mixing iced tea and lemonade (with no refills) when a can of soda is $2. On top of that the staff walks around like zombies that don't want to be there. And now I see why. Save your money. Go elsewhere. read more

I absolutely love great BBQ. Big stick is just what this town needed. The food is packed full of flavor, fresh, and just delicious. The story of the owners is awesome. Whooooaaaaaaa this place was a HIT! They treated us like family for our very first time and I know for sure I will be back this FOOD WAS TOP TIER . We traveled from Dallas Texas just to meet with the owners and they were just excited as I . The music and ambience was phenomenal. It's definitely giving me thoughts of moving back out this way I love it read more

It was our first time trying big stick BBQ. We got the dirty mac and cheese, a pork slider, and some cornbread. The brisket was good, a tad on the dry side. The pork slider was delicious. Mac and cheese was also very good. The cornbread was a bit dry, would have been excellent with some honey butter. I think you need to add some apple crisp or some banana pudding or something to your menu. We will definitely be back. read more

Just took my dad for his birthday - he loves BBQ. We were so impressed with the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. It was $65 for a combo that fed 4 of us - AMAZING. I can't even get out of McDonald's or Starbucks for less than $50 with my family these days. We would highly recommend this place! read more

Big Stick BBQ - A white bowl of pork, coleslaw, pickles and onions next to a menu. - Barbeque Near Me - Bellingham, Washington

Tonight we went in search of BBQ (my husband makes the best ribs so where ever we go I always compare his ribs to theirs). We heard Big Stick makes some seriously good BBQ and we ordered the sampler plate for two- two Baby Back ribs, two pork ribs, two slices of brisket and a pile of pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans and herbed rolls. The ribs were dry rubbed and smoked until tender, I doused mine in the housemade bbq sauce and dug in, they were very good (not as good as hubby's but better than most). The Pulled Pork was lusciously moist and flavorful but the brisket was outstanding- amazingly tender and juicy, I've never had better anywhere else. The sides were good too, I wasn't too fond of the slaw (some odd spices or herbs in there kind of tasted like soap but I'm weird about certain herbs so don't take my opinion too seriously). I did like the beans though, that lovely molasses flavor was really homey and the rolls were soft and fresh. The restaurant itself was very clean and nicely appointed and the staff was helpful and friendly. This place is off the beaten path but it's worth searching for. read more

Great meats! The brisket sandwich is my fave. I love the cole slaw too. They are always so friendly and fast. Good and unique beers are on tap and a classic bbq joint ambiance. read more

Have lived here since 2016 and by far this BBQ spot hits every tastebud! Worth the drive you won't regret it!

I tried the burger with beans on the side the first time. Then had to come back and try the platter. Thoroughly impressed with both. Taste was on point, customer service was great, environment was clean and friendly, will most likely come back for more! read more

Who doesn't love a good barbecue? Who doesn't think they know where to get the best barbecue? Well the answer is clear: Big Stick. We just finished enjoying a pound of their brisket and pulled pork, and it is as good as any I've had. Better in fact. I've been to plenty of barbecue joints in many parts of the country, and there's no reason to leave Bellingham to get the best. Find Big Stick on their website calendar, and follow them for great barbecue. read more

We made a lunch stop and it was really delicious BBQ. We tried a combo so we could try all the meat and everything was very tasty, down to the sides & the roll. We particularly enjoyed the BBQ beans. We will be back! read more

We were so impressed with big stick bbq! Had a delicious bbq plate for two and finished everything but a single rib. My usual complaint with bbq plates is not having enough food, but these were perfect portions! We upgraded to the Mac and cheese as a side and did not regret it one bit. The rosemary rolls were my favorite though, soooo soft and delicious! I can't wait to come back and try the dirty Mac and the sliders!! read more

Great ribs, brisket, and burnt ends. The Mac&cheese was amazing!!!!! Baked beans were a bit overpowering with sugar and grape jelly flavor. The corn bread didn't have much flavor and seemed a bit more dry than corn bread should be. Coleslaw was very tasty, sweet potato salad was a bit to much on the curry flavor. Looking forward to trying some new things on the menu next visit. Again the meat quality was pretty good and not over cooked and perfectly seasoned. read more

Big Stick BBQ - Dining - Barbeque Near Me - Bellingham, Washington

We were excited to try this place out but found it lacking for the price. The buns for the pulled pork sandwich were "too much" and dry, the focus should be on the flavor of the meat and the bun was Rosemary and not the right touch. We found the ribs to be slightly undercooked and the meet was dry and the cornbread was also dry and too big of a chunk with not enough butter and honey. The baked beans, they were trying to hard to be different and I think it was a miss, baked beans are very simple and yummy at simple. The kids did not like the barbecue sauce which was a bummer because the pulled pork meat was dry. The kids and I probably won't be going back unfortunately; the place was cute, but lacked staff personality (they were nice though and the place was very clean.) read more

I had great expectations for this place. My favorite BBQ truck in Bellingham is Bare Bones BBQ, but they are down for the winter. So, I found this place- a real brick and mortar restaurant that's devoted to BBQ. What a rarity for Bellingham! Too bad it's not very good. In spite of the many rave reviews on yelp, I found it mediocre at best. I ordered the rib plate with slaw and beans on the side. The ribs had plenty of meat on them, but they were definitely not smoky enough for me. The slaw had good ingredients but was underdressed and the dressing was just about tasteless. The beans were so sweet I couldn't eat them. I lived in Texas for 30 years, have couple of BBQ rigs (wood and charcoal only- no propane) and a lot of experience with this genre. While Big Stick BBQ is better than nothing, it's not in the same league as top notch Q you can find elsewhere. read more

Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. I got combo platter and everything was well done, great cornbread and sides as well.

Had the combo plate for one, it was good, brisket fell apart, ribs dry rubbed, good, pulled pork so so needed more smoke flavor, rosemary bun was spot on, the chili, and the beans were spot on, good for the $ made 2 lunches out of it for 18$ read more

Big Stick BBQ - Ribs pulled pork and brisket with a rosemary bun and two different kinds of beans - Barbeque Near Me - Bellingham, Washington

We dropped in to K2 last Sunday afternoon hungry and thirsty. Didn't know what food truck would be there. As soon as we walked up to Big Stick and I saw Burnt Ends on the menu, I knew we'd hit a home run. They were served perfectly smoked, inner-tender-outer-crisped, juicy, and (possibly) selected for an ideal meat/fat ratio. Every bite was incredibly savory and amazing! We also ordered the insanely delicious cold-day-chili posted on their 'specials' board. It was the best we've had in a long time. Thank you Big Stick BBQ. We're now fans, and we will be back soon! read more
