I got your BIG STICK! Was heading to Canadian border and punched in BBQ on my Yelp app and saw Big Stick BBQ so i stoped in for some swine! Ordered a plate with ribs, bbq beans & coleslaw. Very friendly person behind counter and was fast to bring out my morsels! Let's start with coleslaw, I think it had too much spice in it for me. Yet the beans were hot & terrific tasting a winner. As for ribs well meat fell right off the bone and you can see the smoke ring. Smoke ring is a signature for any pit master worth his smoker, yet didn't think ribs were the best I've ever tasted. Maybe it was his rub I'm not sure. I thought kinda dry but can't pinpoint my contempt. Again my opinion is subjective so try it for yourself. Saw they had brunt ends so I may try some on another trip. Come to think this place reminds me of Kansas City BBQ joint which from my experience tends to be a tad spicy. I'm a huge Texas BBQ fan so I'm more partial to that. Not to say anything negative about BIG STICK BBQ. You'll need to try this place for your own opinion ! Cheers and happy eating.

Legit bbq! Just look at the cooker out back! This little place is off the beaten track but worth seeking out. We had a fun time trying a good mix off the menu as my husband got the 3 meat platter and I tried the 3 slider dish. My absolute favorite was the jalapeño jelly and brie slider. Its fun trying something not offered anywhere else. My only disappointment was they don't do the sweet potato salad anymore and I was looking forward to it. We def will be back. Have to try their banana pudding next time :)

Great atmosphere, music, very clean, and the best BBQ in Bellingham proper. Healthy portions, I returned to grab more sauce next day. Out of ribs yesterday, I am back for a portion for me, and a bottle of the spicy sauce. Hospitality beyond norms and the crowd. Eclectic, young an old, reasonable tap prices. Honestly, what more can you ask for? A top recommendation from George!

I had the chance to try their food truck on a Friday evening at Stemma. Given that I've spent a disproportionate time in the Gulf Coast region, I was initially hesitant to venture into the world of PNW BBQ, but boy, am I glad I did! What initially drew me to this food cart as a frugal foodie was the excellent price point. $13 for x3 sliders of BBQ meat and varied toppings is hard to beat in this area. I was impressed with each of the slider flavors and thought that they were memorable in their own way, which I will wax on about below. The brisket blue came with some yummy blue cheese and the brisket was cooked wonderfully - I can honestly say I have never really thought of mixing blue cheese in with brisket like that, but they managed to pull it off. The "rissa" option was also fun and fresh, mixing pulled pork, brie, and jalapeno jelly. Once again, a unique cheese theme adored by turophiles everywhere such as myself! This slider, coupled with tasty jalapeno zing, was another winner. Lastly was the more classic pulled pork with coleslaw, which really hit the spot. Not to be forgotten is the bread, a subtle potato rosemary bun that elevated the sliders beyond your normal plain white bread slider. I look forward to returning whenever I need my local BBQ fix in town!

I had a hankerin' for some "'Q" and thought I would check out Big Stick. I was really ready to like it. Unfortunately, my experience did not turn out as I had hoped. The space was comfortable, clean and made you feel like eating BBQ. Service was prompt and cheerful. Nice. I ordered the one-person Combo Plate. When it arrived, I was visually very pleased. The brisket looked great (nice smoke ring, bark, etc). Pulled pork was looked good, nice sides, etc. As I progressed through the stages of sampling each item I slowly, but consistently met with mildly disappointing foods. Everything was "slightly off". I couldn't taste the smoke, the ribs looked great but tasted like they were baked. Strange, I don't understand how that could be... they looked great. Dunno. Similar stories about the beans and Cole slaw. I like the restaurant ambience and would like to be fan of their food. I'll pass this occasion off as a combination of a "bad day" and my personal preferences. I'll wait awhile and try

recently visited Big Stick BBQ for the first time, and I was thoroughly impressed! The food was absolutely delicious, with perfectly smoked meats and flavorful sauces that left me wanting more. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The welcoming atmosphere added to the overall experience. I highly recommend Big Stick BBQ to anyone looking for great barbecue and exceptional service!

mac tasted like a weird canola oil or crisco, and beans were still hard.... and what citrus is in the coleslaw?

food was mid, pork was good tho it was definitely apart.. bbq sauce was good. The roll, i didn't get the aromatic leafs they put in was kinda throwing the flavor off. By the way, the mac n cheese seriously looks reheated..

Ordered the combo for 4 and the burnt ends. Everything is really good plus they play awesome blues/jazz music, and the folks are super friendly. The brisket in particular is really good - tender yet has good consistency. The BBQ sauce is great. The ribs are also really good. Pulled pork is so so but maybe I don't really like pulled pork. Corn bread can be substituted in combo meal and it was worth the wait. Fresh out of oven amazing. Cole slaw and beans also spot on. The cole slaw has a citrus y flavor which is great. Would come back on a road trip. Service was super quick and friendly.

They are welcoming and warm, skilled at what they do, helpful and more. I love that they have musical offerings--and often. I have loved every one I've attended. Last night I had the pleasure of enjoying the Tuesday Songwriter Showcase--this event showcased Lucy London and her violinist partner, Adam. OMG!!! It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Ever! And the food and beverages--oh my. Chelsea is my mixmaster extraordinare. When I ask her to create n/a mocktails for me (IMO, no easy task to get a truly interesting flavor sans alcohol), she always comes up with something complex and wonderful. I cannot recall all the ingredients in one of my favorites last night, but it had both an elderflower component and a rhubarb one: lovely. (And a beautiful salmon-colored hue to boot, complete with a Bartender's cherry...) The food was spectacular. I had read a recent review in the Cascadia Daily News that raved about the Admiralty (for good reason) and spotlighted the deviled eggs, among other choices. Because I make nice deviled eggs myself, I never bothered to try these, so I did last night. Very lovely: creamy and gorgeous with a different, interesting spicy little twist. (Be sure to smear the egg on the bottom of the tray to pick up more of that wonderful red spice.) And the lamb/beef sliders: I'd had them before and really loved them (and sliders aren't really my thing, so that surprised me). Either they were even better last night or I just hadn't remembered how absolutely spectacular--each bite was one of the best of anything I have ever put in my mouth. Luscious. No more be said. Love this place... (plus it's really pretty inside...)

Initially going for just a drink, we stayed for dinner. We're glad we did. Here's our experience. 1) Food: We started with the salmon dip, which everyone really loved. It comes with little toasted bread slices. The menu is heavy seafood, but there are a few options without. Walking in hungry, I ordered the deviled eggs, Caesar salad, and the shrimp (all small plates). Each dish was full of flavor and delicious! 2) Drinks: They have a robust menu. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I ordered the Spa Day. I don't love it. It's mainly ice and not sweet at all. It wasn't tart, just muted. I then ordered a local raspberry cider, which was very tasty. (It's dry cider.) 3) Service: Phenomenal. Everyone was top notch- efficient and personable.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

We came in for an early dinner so we were really able to enjoy the rustic ambience of this restaurant all by ourselves. As soon as we sat down the waitress was attentive and ready to take our order. I order the garden party off their cocktail menu. Snap pea gin, bay leaf vermouth, genepy, saline and pea shoot? I really was feeling adventurous with this one, a regrettable mistake. The first sip I thought I was drinking sea water with a touch of olive oil in it. I never send back drinks although I was close with this one, I sipped it throughout my meal. One critique I have about the cocktail menu is that every drink was over complicated with many exotic ingredients. There was nothing for someone who was looking for a simple craft cocktail. The table shared the Strawberry Panzanella, and once again I was accosted by an overwhelming salty and sour flavor. A traditional Italian salad consisting of grilled strawberry and focaccia croutons. The lemon vinaigrette dressing on this salad was salty and sour, and very overpowering. Unlike my drink we were unable to finish this one. I ordered the Roe Burger, which I had been really looking forward to trying, thankfully this one did not disappoint. Two smash burger patties that were thin, crispy, and cooked to perfection with slices of cheddar cheese on top are then placed on a bed of classic burger toppings. Tomato, pickles, and iceberg lettuce. This burger was served with crispy fries and garlic aioli. After my fist few bites my mind was beginning to change about this restaurant. We also shared the Reuben Croquettes. A super creative and unique spin on one of my personal favorite appetizers. These little fried pocket were filled with a delicious mixture of cheese and shredded corned beef. They were garnished with a small slice of pickle which was a great touch. For dessert we decided to try the hazelnut torte which was fantastic. It had a nice crisp outer layer with a soft gooey center. Lovely flavor and texture that ended our experience at Roe wonderfully. In conclusion our experience at Roe had its ups and downs but I left feeling satisfied. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience I would give this restaurant a try.
