Always a wonderful experience. The food and the service keep me coming back. I've never had a bad meal at big sky.

It was Saturday night and we thought Big Sky could provide food for our home date night. (Like those are rare, right?) we showed up early to pick up order but of course didn't expect them to have it ready. Well they did get it to us 5 min early which is impressive given they were busy. We ordered crab and bacon stuffed trout, Bangs island mussel capellini pasta and roasted pear &grilled kale salad. The flavor of all dishes were outstanding. The trout was a wee bit over cooked according to my husband but that could be due to having to drive home to eat it. The salad well the kale in the salad was very smoky which he loved so he ate most of the that while enjoyed the rest of the goodies in there. Their homemade hummus and flatbread was sent along with a surprise thank you gift from them consisting of 3 mini carrot cakes. I would definitely order any of the items we got again! We did not order any wine but their prices looked very reasonable for to go beverages. read more

Had a 7:30 reservation. We dined at a table on the back patio. We've been coming here for years and never knew there was a patio in the back! St. Louis County has shut-down indoor dining due to a spike in Covid cases. Big Sky Cafe has a great covered patio with heaters. It was very pleasant outdoors for November 19th in the Lou. Cocktails (frozen old fashioned & a regular old fashioned) were amazing. Entrees...mahi mahi with ancho chili pumpkin relish was mine while my wife had the crab and bacon stuffed trout. Both were stellar. The desserts were decadent too... tiny carrot cake cupcakes & the sorbet. A special Thank-You to to the chef, staff, and waitress for helping to navigate dietary restrictions due to my Alpha-gal allergy. Feeling safe while dining out has nothing to do with Covid... for me. We went here on Friday night and sat at the bar, which we love to do! We started with a glass of wine for me and a scotch for my husband. The ambience was perfect to just sit, chat about the week and think about what we wanted to eat. We were served hummus, crostini and some veggies to start. We ordered the chicken livers, the NOLA shrimp and the smaller portion of seafood cioppino. I am Cows milk dairy free, which really is a pain but most places will try to cook without butter or cream/milk for me and Big Sky is one of those places! I did not eat the shrimp but husband said it was absolutely delicious! The chicken livers were cooked to perfection and in my opinion didn't need the sauce they usually serve over it. Maybe try it on the side. The cioppino was good! The bartender was our server and she was delightful. Good wine list, good food and a cute place. Can't wait to sit on the patio. read more

Even on a rainy day, one can still find happiness when you step inside a place that serves great tasting food that will get your taste buds dancing with joy! The setting melts the troubles away and the peaceful dining experience was altogether terrific. Maybe sitting by the window watching the rain fall helped but that was the feeling I got dining here in the early evening. To start with, they offered some carrot humus which was quite tasty. I had a glass of Cabernet and ordered the dry rubbed & grilled Geisert farm pork chop with fresh baby spinach, mashed sweet potatoes and drizzled with some balsamic reduction. I wanted to try an appetizer but I wasn't too hungry so perhaps next time. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, I wanted it more done than how they normally would cook it but it didn't turn out tough or anything. The sweet mashed potatoes as well as the balsamic reduction complimented the flavor of the pork really well. After finishing my meal, I've saved just enough room for a slice of their vegan and gluten-free dark chocolate flourless cake drizzled with chocolate sauce and salted caramel. One word: Heaven! I wish I had taken a picture of such delicate perfection but I was too excited and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some drizzled dark chocolate deliciously sinful goodness (it was that good that I don't even care if my description goes well together). The cake was moist and rich and I loved the salted caramel! Oh my... I might just come back for that alone. The service was wonderful as well and the place was well-kept. I can't wait to come back and try their other menu items or just for another slice of heaven. read more

The first time visiting this establishment was nice. It had a very inviting yet relaxing atmosphere. A great place to have easy conversation without a lot of background noise. The food was presented nicely, but sauce on my trout lacked flavor and was skimpy. I also noticed the lack of meat to starch ratio on a braised meat dish my guest ordered. I will return to try other dishes offered and only hope my first visit wasn't the norm. read more

Love their happy hour Super 7 specials. Their food is so fresh and delicious! Great patio and great staff. Only downside is the patio is first come, first serve. However if you can get their early you might be able to grab a table. Love that they're in Webster. read more

We went one night without a reservation. Fortunately, they had a table in the garden area in the back which was lovely . I had a pasta dish that had green olives in it. I can't remember the name of the dish but it was absolutely delicious, definitely a Sicilian dish, as it tasted so much like my grandma made. That was in August; we've been back twice since. Tucked away near the railroad tracks, down the street from fast food and across the street from some overrated bar food sits the Big Sky Cafe. How does a person describe Big Sky? Accessible fancy comes to mind. Seriously, the Chef behind the dishes here needs to be commended, no they need a food network show. Not the kind where some guy in a restored Camero stops by, not one which you have to make something edible from circus peanuts, chives and whitefish-seriously get this chef a show, better yet-cancel the show and keep them in the kitchen! Our party had brined chicken breast, salmon, green bean salad and a brussels sprout salad. Everyone was pleased with their selection. Our server was helpful, unobtrusive and present when needed. The environment is classy, not too fancy, friendly and great for dinner and conversation. Check out the Big Sky Cafe, I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

We just came here for the first time for a date night and it did not disappoint. We sat in the heated wine garden with complimentary blankets. John was our server and he's the real deal--knowledgeable, pleasant, patient, hospitable, kind. I had the pot roast and it was delightful. My husband and I agreed their tomato soup was the best we'd ever tasted... basically we're their newest regulars. Our only regret was that we didn't try it sooner! read more

Still in my top 5 in St Louis. Eaten hear with elderly friends and 40-somethings friends and elderly parents. Forward thinking menus, priced correctly in comparison to the industry for the quality and creativity. Everything is clean. Staff clearly likes to work here and are treated well. Wow! It's been maybe 5 years since we've been to Big Sky, but tonight's dinner was a GREAT dining experience. Our server Shannon was attentive and funny, and the food was absolutely delicious. Since my wife is a pescatarian, she was very happy with the salmon that she ordered, and carnivore Me adored the braised pork shoulder dinner plate. I would be remiss if it did not mention our delicious dessert of apple pecan pie! I was reminded again why this place has been around for 30 years. Kudos! read more

Fantastic food and wine, with wonderful service. I couldn't quite finish my meal, so I asked to take the rest home. Then I left the box on the table, but the waiter ran after me with it. Thank you again! I also very much appreciate the fact that they had a "mask required" sign on the door, the entire staff wore masks, and customers wore them going to and from their tables. We had another fabulous meal here at Blue Sky! In fact we came back the next afternoon for a meal before leaving to head back the cabin in south central Missouri. Try the cauliflower au gratin to share. (we took one home for another meal, was so good!) The Shrip and polenta were perfect and our Lion's Mane mushroom dish was out of this world. I think the Lamb burger will be next on my list of items to try and each soup seems quite noticing. We are so glad for Dominic, now owner and chef combined to fulfill your dining needs in S. Louis. Webster Groves easy and convenient to get to from most parts of town and when you realize how sweet this area is, you might never head back to Unity or Clayton for food or lodging while in STL. We were only in for the day and we found this place on Yelp! The service was super friendly, attentive and prompt. The waitress even recommended a place to go (City Museum - local treasure). I ordered to the tomato bisque and then the pot roast. Apparently the tomato soup is a specialty of theirs and I must say it was savory and delicious. My first time in today. I was quite surprised when a gentleman to our right asked if we needed a table? Yes please can we sit outside? Yes can I get your name? Sure Ann. Oh but I don't have you down for a reservation to mark off? No. Dominic acted like we were putting him out by seating us. I wanted to leave because of the rudeness. My mother and I stayed and shared the Cauliflower Grilled Cheese! It was superb ! My three stars are for the sandwich. Different, but oh so good. It was enough for us to share. Will I return? Nope. Sorry I like to feel welcomed when walking into a restaurant. Especially my first visit!! I loved the sandwich but do not tolerate feeling as though I've put someone out. I love their rotating seasonal menu so much! Finding new things every few months is really fun. The service is always so friendly and kind, and my family always has a great time. I also really appreciate their environmentally friendly business practices and care for the small farms they patronize. It makes me feel really good about supporting them! My parents went here the night before I was born, and I'm 21, so we've got some experience with Big Sky. Awesome food and service every time :) If you're not a drinker like me, I really recommend the basil lemonade. Sometimes, we order a bunch of small plates and share so that we all get a little of everything. Be sure to make a reservation if you're coming on the weekend, and don't forget to tip! read more

Had such a lovely take out experience today! Our first time trying Big Sky. The lentil quinoa veggie burger was wonderful and huge! Definitely lived up to my very high expectations. We were so appreciative of the sweet extra touches that were slipped into our to go bag - an appetizer AND dessert?! What an amazing surprise.
