I was desperate to get some air in my tires after a trip to Sedona. Just as we were about to start thr 2 hr 20 minute drive back to the Phoenix area, my warning lights came on!! I always low-key panic when any light comes on. We were leaving right around 6 pm when most if not all of the Big O locations in the Sedona area had just closed for the day. I said a prayer before I started the long journey home. Thankfully, we made it, but I still had to go to work the next day, so I checked to see what time the nearest one opened. They all open at 7 am, so I left a few minutes early to make it to this one. I drove around to the back and the doors were open, but I didn't see anyone in the bays just yet. I turned around and heard Pepe whistling, so I rolled my window down and he came to help me. I told him I just needed a presume check and air in my tires. He was great! He did all 4 tires in a matter of minutes. I was back on the road and on my way to work within 6 minutes tops! I do need to rotate my tires, so I will definitely be stopping by again to have that done before my long trip back to California coming soon! I thought it was a fair price for an oil change on my 11 YO suv. Their shop came in very handy when I had a flat tire. The oil change was booked after I had a great experience with the female managed staff. They had tires in stock that fit my car but if I wanted the exact style of tire to match my other tires then it would be the next morning delivery. The bathroom was CLEAN, too! I had some pretty bad luck with tires last year, kept getting nails and needing a patch and ended up coming into Big O 4 times in about as many months (one was even out of state in CA). Every time I come in, the staff is super friendly, helps with exactly what I need, gets me in and out as quickly as they can, and has never once tried to upsell me on stuff I don't need. The one time they recommended new tires, they showed me my front two and they were absolutely right; they also found me a good Buy 3 Get 1 deal on my tires and installed them same day. I can't recommend them enough! As a female who only knows a little about cars, it'd be very easy to try to upsell and make a quick buck but I never get that vibe, just a team of folks that are good at what they do, super efficient and incredibly nice! read more

I came to Big O Tires in Tempe for a simple tire pressure check and ended up feeling heavily upsold. I agreed only to the basic "buy 3, get 1 free" tires, but I was never given a written estimate for anything--just a phone call an hour later from Big O, quoting over $3,000 filled with add-ons, warranties, and services I never asked for. Despite Big O having my email and phone number, nothing was provided to me in writing, and I had to take notes myself on the phone call just to track what I was being told. I was so rattled, I had my husband call Big O back and decline everything but the tire purchase. When I returned to pick up my car later that afternoon, I found even more surprise extras on the bill, including a yearlong warranty for the tires I never authorized. What should have been under $600 for the tires alone was originally quoted as over $923 on the phone call to me with these add ons. While settling up the bill, the salesperson who had helped me that morning overheard my discussion with the manager and then lied and said he had discussed the 3,000$ estimate with me. He did not do that, and I had to remind him that he had my email so why didn't he email me what he claimed he showed me (some kind of invoice of suggested work). Then, my husband noticed ANOTHER add on to the tire charges-some kind of tire warranty that was added without my approval, so we had to ask for that charge to also be manually removed. Although the manager ultimately removed all extra charges, the fact they were added in the first place says a lot about the sales tactics here. I came in for a tire pressure check and left feeling hustled-definitely not the experience that builds customer trust. Big O can't recover from the first impression they made on me-I won't be back. This is the best location and customer service I have ever had/been to. I got a flat in the middle of the highway, so I had to drive very carefully to get to their shop since it was the closest one. I called on the phone ahead of time to let them know what was going on since I had an appointment at 4 to get to. I got there at 2:55 and I was out of there by 3:20 with a brand new set of matching tires (I needed all new ones anyway). They were so understanding, explained everything, and even let me borrow a charger for my phone while I waited (for a short period of time). 10/10 will be going here for all car issues in the future. read more

I went to Big O Tires on Elliot for a few times. The service really went downhill. First time it was for an oil change and they educated me I needed to put more love in my car. Second time, I tried to find out what's wrong with my brakes because every time I brake, my car shakes; and they said my brakes were fine, it's probably because I parked my car in the sun. And suggested a bunch of other 1K repairs. Later on Sundevil Auto discovered I needed new brake pads. Then the car was fine. Third time, I visited the store. Herb was there. I don't know if he still works there but he made me feel I owed him money. I went in because when my car was around 70mph it felt a bit hard to control the stirring wheel. He touched my front tire and said I needed to change both of my tires. I did that. But the two tires were never returned to me. They were only 3 years old. I didn't know better so I didn't think much about it. I decided not to go back because the technicians worked on my car didn't seem to be competent, and the customer service made me feel I should be ashamed of myself just for being there. Went here (Elliot and McClintock) to have a screw removed from my tire that has just over 10k miles on it and less than one year old. The woman who helped me, I don't have her name, said I only had 2/32 of tread and they could not repair it due to DOT laws. She also said I couldn't replace just one tire, I'd have to replace all of them because it would void my BMW warranty due to the difference in tread depths that would throw the drive train off. I have it all on video. I then went up the street to DISCOUNT TIRE on Elliot and Kyrene and had the best service. They said the tread was just over 3/32 and in a repairable location. They repaired it for free and in under one hour without an appointment. I do not recommend Big O tires if this is the kind of tricks your sales people are trying to get away with. read more

My car was due for an oil change, and since I was low on gas, I decided to go to a closer Big O Tires that I've been to once before. I also had a good experience at this location. Good customer service, friendly people, and not a long wait. Place is clean, along with the bathroom, which has a bidet. Courtney the Assistant Manager, has a positive, patient, and empathetic attitude towards her customers. Cameron was known as the "New Guy" helped me save money on my oil change for Full Synthetic and is pretty cool himself. So I guess this will be my new TEMPE BIG O Tires Location. read more

I made an appointment to repair the tire but was told they were busy and it would be 4 hours; I left the tire and was told they would call me when it was repaired. I got a call back stating the tire was ready, figuring they would replace the spare with the repaired tire; again, I have the "Tire Protection Plan." The full waiting room in question was 8 empty chairs and at least 4 Garage Techs laughing/telling jokes behind the counter. The cashier, I believe Krystal, was extremely generic and vacant in her apology for the inconvenience they caused after I had already scheduled an appointment AND paid an egregious amount for just a "quick dump oil change" since I was planning on getting new tires/rotation done soon as well. Today I realized just how "corporate" Big O tires is. This story starts about 3 weeks ago. I went there to get a tire repaired that had a bolt in it. I explained to them I knew it was time for new tires and in 2 weeks I planned to buy a full set. Tristan looked at the tire and and the sales pitch began. "There is less than 2/32 of tread and it is illegal for us to repair it." Having worked in the tire industry for several years, I'm familiar with this "tactic" and know it's a load of crap. The wear on the tires was still above the manufacturers wear bars in the tires. What does that mean? It means there is still more and 2/32 of tread on the tires. Ultimately I needed a tire to get back and forth to work so I bought one and had them mount and balance it on the rim. Frustrated by the experience I decided to go elsewhere to get tires. Being that I had these mounted at another location and it being a holiday weekend, Big O was the closest open place to get them to dismount and remount the tire. I asked my son to take it there for me to help me out. After a few minutes he calls me and says they are refusing to dismount/remount the tire stating it is a liability if it doesn't seat right. (Sorry but when I hear this I hear that you can't do your job properly if you don't know how to seat a tire!). I tell my son to go ahead and have them put the tire I bought 3 weeks ago AT THIS LOCATION back on the rim for me. He texts me back to say they are refusing to put the tire on the rim because it is a used tire with no sticker. I sent him a picture of the receipt and told him to have them look it up in my history by my phone number. He showed them the information and they are still refusing to remount THIER OWN DAMN TIRE. There is less than 100 miles on the tire! Further, when I bought their tire 3 weeks ago I told Tristan my intent was to buy a full set and buy a rim to have the new tire on to have a full size spare. If they refuse today to put their tire on a rim because it is "used", why did Tristan not mention this when I told him my intent? Did he not know from lack of training? Did he not say it because he forgot? Or is he just incompetent? After my son spoke to Krystal today and was given this line of Bull it became apparent to me. It's not forgetfulness, incompetence or lack of training. It is clear there was intent to sell more tires to an unsuspecting individual. Yes I did work in the tire industry guys. I know the tricks. But even the company I worked for had respect and decency to not use deceptive tactics like this to pad their bottom line!!!! Here is my suggestion. Get some training in ethics and professionalism. Get some training in proper customer service that makes people want to come back. The only thing you did today was lost customers. Yes I used the plural "customers". I can tell you my family will never use you for auto anything. They say that word of mouth is the best advertising. Well, word of mouth has been proven to not only grow a business but to also deplete a business of once loyal customers. I want to start by thanking Little Lenny and his team over here at Big O, specifically at this location. I had an issue with a different location. It was about my breaks. I had just gotten them replaced and they began to squeal 2 weeks later. So when that location refused to help I called this location and spoke to Lenny. He went ahead and took the initiative to guarantee me my car would get fixed as soon as possible. I wasn't sure how soon he meant to fix my issue but, to my disbelief, his squad fixed the issue immediately. Got my breaks fixed, advice on my tires, programs I can use to pay for items in the future and so on. I loved the customer service too. I'm a big hat collector and noticed his tattoo on his arm. Lenny told me it was in honor of his brother and the hat was because he was a collector. It was nice having that moment and it not being "just another customer" type feeling. I told myself to not come back here. I lied. Ended up back here and regret it. Took it truck in for alignment and told me tires were bad, so I went ahead and bought a new set $2k tires, top notch. Picked the truck up after work and trucks shaking, pulling to the left, and steering wheel is not centered. I mean a brand new set of tires and "you gotta let it break in first" nahhhh spent another hour and half waiting for the truck to be fixed, been here a few times and it always happens last time there was a 3rd row of weights on the wheels. Eddie was a great help and was very accommodating. However.. This location suffers particularly from a lack of organization and honesty. Multiple occasions i have been here only to have the technicians obliviously lie straight to my face! Claiming that I needed unnecessary repairs.. On my most recent visit 10/9/17, it took them 3 1/2 hours to fulfill a basic oil change. Three and a half hours. All the while, other customers were coming in and out as per usual. After 2 hours, the employee gruntly advised me to stand outside and wait for them, "they would be finished shortly". Standing outside, I observed the absence of a sense of urgency. The technicians monotonously grudge around, slowly carrying out their orders until every order is finished (except mine). I observed a group of 6 technicians mostly standing around in a semi-circle, loudly cursing profanity and racial slurs. Be careful, they will purposely dodge and try to squeeze a dime out of your penny, all while smiling to your face with a blatant lie. There is even a customer service phone number on the wall, if your visit was not completely "exceptional". And if you're wondering if I called the number, your guess is right buster. The customer service phone number is a joke and it rerouted me to an endless loop of dial tones. Call that exceptional.. Coming to BIG O Tires is a BIG O' MISTAKE !!! They inflated my tire to 63 PSI. You read that right, 63 PSI. I came in for struts, shocks, alignment, and 4 tires. The rep, Mikey, literally told me the tires were separating, air bubbles were forming, and that they would blow out soon. The tires wouldn't be arriving until the next day, so I picked my car up to drive it home and bring it back the next day. As I get on the highway, my TPMS light starts flashing. I looked at the in-dash tire pressure monitor and it said the front right was 63 PSI. I couldn't believe it, honestly thought it was an error. So I pull off the highway and check my tire pressure. It was 63 PSI. Immediately called Big O, they put me on hold, then denied that they put any air in my tires. Let me tell you this - I didn't roll up to Big O at 63 PSI. My AC went out in my vehicle. Took it to the Elliott St location on Tues, mid morning. They kept it two days, took my two thousand dollars, told me it was fixed and handed me my 12 month/12k mile warranty. I drove it back to my hotel, 10 min away, and immediately called the store to say the AC was still blowing hot air. Not fixed and and it would be the following Monday before I could bring it back. That Monday I dropped the car off at 7am. At 830 I get a call from Cameron who proceeds to start talking about "the part is only $187 but the labor is going to be 6.5 hours..." No. I paid you $2k just the other day. You ASSURED me that my air worked then gave me a warranty for that work. I will not be paying you a thin red cent. PERIOD. He kept discussing "but it passed the pressure test..." Again, not my problem. You gave me a warranty that the work was done and it will be done at no further cost to me so I need you to get your manager or the owner to call me so we can discuss it. He called me 5 minutes later to say they would take care of my car. They did a great job the second time. The AC blows cold. Was blowing cold air al.ost before I was even out of thr parking lot. The problem I have is that they are apparently NOT going to stand behind the warranty without you making them stand behind the warranty. Maybe it's because I'm an old lady and I find all mechanics try to take advantage of us? I don't know. I just k ow that women need to be wary when dealing with this place. I usually visit this location to have minor work done on my car. Today I was deeply disappointed in the lack of safety during my visit. Not only does the county and the city have mask mandates, but there were signs on the entrance and exit that say you must have a mask to enter the building. all but one staff member weren't wearing masks. Had to wait 2 hours for an oil change with an appointment. A part of their service which was $110 they are supposed to air up the tires. They returned the vehicle under inflated. I came to big o tires in order to get a second opinion on a flat tire I figured I only needed patched, the tire shop I went to before tried telling me my tread was gone and I needed a whole new tire (I purchased my car in November of 2021 with new tires so I was skeptical) the tread was in tact and I did in fact only need a patch! Update: spoke to the owner today. The owner was NOT RUDE but still disappointed with the result of the conversation. The tire protection plan doesn't protect against much and will cost you an extra $200 dollars if you bought four new tires like I did. Asked for that refunded but the owner kinda glossed over that fact. Guess he did not think I was serious. I will try my luck with corporate I guess. I increase the rating by one star because it's obvious owner cares about their reviews and took the time to call me personally. People come to establishments like this because it offers more "protections" than your average tire shop. (It's common knowledge prices at these shops are much cheaper but lack any type of warranties.) His reasoning for my tire balding so fast was because bigger tires just bald faster and I should had alignment and 4 tire rotations all within 6 months?? (NOTE: THE OWNER is a NICE GUY I'm not saying he ignorant just misinformed. This just goes to show you how corporate all these businesses are. The have their tailored response for everything, this is an American problem you gotta protect corporate dollars right??) I had my oil change 3 times which in each case the tires where also rotated and I already had my alignment done. The tire tread was the same all over so this couldn't be true. My family members drive way more miles and drive bigger vehicles with even bigger tires (SUV & TRUCKS). So with that logic, everyone in my family should buy new tires ever 3 months than?? Nonetheless, I been buying tires all my life and the tire tread has never been completely bald within 6 months. At the time of inspection, (at Big O Tires) it was confirm that I did not even go over the manufacture warranty 45,000 miles rather less than half.
