We have been traveling from Louisiana to Wyoming to northern Idaho and now we're on the return loop home. We'd had the back shocks and the fuel pump changed at our last stop so when we heard a squeaky belt our hearts sank. We brought the car to Big O Tires first thing the next morning. The technician took it right in and said it was probably nothing serious. Turned out some fluid was on the belt so he cleaned it up and sent us back on the road with a handshake and a smile. The amazing guys at Big O Broadway are the best mechanics you will find in and around Boise. I've been going to Big O Broadway, which has almost zero turnover, since 1981. These guys have been taking care of my most recent car since it was a baby. I would leave my car only in the care of decent humans, who happened to be mechanics, who I trusted like brothers. That meant Mike, Alex, Dustin, Tony, Brandt (who left a few years ago, and I still miss him), and the owner, Dale Horton, who has owned this store since at least sometime in the 1970s. A tire store as my go-to mechanics? You bet! You know how one of the best discoveries in life is a great mechanic? I found them here. And you can make these guys your go-to mechanics too. You will be happy you did. That's right. I bought my car, new, in 2005. I could have taken it to the dealer (and did only for the free warranty work). Everything else, other than the time my car needed head gaskets, has been done by my favorite mechanics in Boise. It's been a real gift, knowing these amazing folks at Big O on Broadway, and feeling confident that I could trust them completely with their judgment and work on my cars. I must admit, every Big O I have been to, in Boise and out, has been wonderful! I came in to get new tires and I had my list of questions to ask. The guy that helped me was extremely patient. I ended up grabbing a price on a few tires and then I told him I was going to compare prices around town. He offered up some tips about pricing, what to ask the other tire places, and what to look for in the tire I was trying to find. He also told me to be careful of prices being too low because usually the extra costs such as mounting the tire, disposing of the tire, plus other costs are not factored into the price. He was correct. I went to two other tire places to find lower tire prices but higher installment fees. After three phone calls to Big O Tires and a million questions later, I now have new shoes on my car thanks to them! They were so helpful and so wonderful at helping me find the right tire for my car. Safety and getting the most out of my tire wear were their two main concerns, of which were mine too. They weren't interested in selling me any old tire, they were interested in satisfying the customer and taking my concerns and questions into account. Highly recommend! read more

The single star is for the head sales guy at the Broadway store who is pompous and overbearing. He refused to discuss any option other than a complete set of 4 tires and when 2, at most, would have been more than adequate. I thanked him for his opinion whereupon he got belligerent and tried to stop me from getting in my car to leave. Epilog, I then went to the Big O in downtown boise and had a wonderful experience with a manager named Chad. He worked with me for about 30 minutes to find a perfect solution to replacing a single tire even though I was prepared to buy a pair. Truly, if you are thinking Big O, avoid Broadway in Boise. These guys are the best--I mean that! In every which way they are top notch: customer service, cost-effective, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. To be honest, I would totally just have my dad deal with all of my car problems if I could...but he lives in California, so it's on me to take care of the whip! With that said, I'm not extremely knowledgeable about cars, so I can super-appreciate when I go to a mechanic and they are respectful of that and come down to my level when they talk to me. I've been to a lot of places that try to upsell me and get me to buy things that are unnecessary. However, I've never experienced that here--in fact, it's the complete opposite. I'm always surprised by how affordable it is to take care of my car. From oil changes/tire rotations ($38) to the big things like brake lines (this obviously costs a bit more), it's always reasonable. Not only that, but they never pressure me into making a decision, they simply present me with the options and give their insight. I came here last week for an oil change, and when I pulled up they came out asking if I was there to fix my flat. "....Er? I have a flat?" (That's why my "Check Tire Pressure" light was on! lol). I instantly panicked thinking I'd have to buy new tires. "How much is that going to cost me to fix?" I asked. To which the kind mechanic replied "Probably nothing!" *Sigh of relief, my goodness!* They ended up fixing my tire, rotating my tires and changing my car's oil in 22 minutes--not joking! (It's not always that fast, it usually takes an hour or so.) But still, they got me in and out of there in 22 minutes and for just $38...WINNING! If you need a go-to mechanic, these guys are the way to go! read more

I recently brought my car in to change out my winter wheels for my summer wheels. The parking lot was dead when I got there despite hearing that other stores had a 1.5 hour wait. That should have been my first clue that the owner, Alex doesn't have a clue about business ethics. Despite being a long time Big O customer, I was charged $25 for the swap. I was fine with that...unfortunately I realized that they didn't set the TOMS sensors. I was quoted $25 at Big O on Main, and they explicitly mentioned setting the sensors as part of the fee. I just didn't want to go wait 2 hours. As such, I was surprised to see my sensor light illuminated. I called Alex, and he said that's an additional $45. I told him that Main Street included setting the TPMS with the swap. He agreed to do it to keep my business. When I arrived in the store later that afternoon, he told me that he had called Main and accused me of lying. I asked him to call Big O Main to prove it, so he called. He kept the speaker off until I requested that he put it on speaker phone. Then he told me that 'he needs to keep the lights on'. He wanted $45 for a 2 minute job on top of the $25 I already paid him. He didn't do the job right in the first place and then he wanted $45. Then he accused me of not being a customer because it had been 5 years since my last visit. That's true. I moved away and recently moved back. I was a Big O customer in Colorado too. What a loser! I'll never go here again, and I may never go to any Big O again. Discount Tire is much better!!! read more

My grandfather and my dad, both mechanics, always go to this location. My grandpa was a stickler for quality and service and my dad for quality and price. Both of them have both been very loyal to Big O on Broadway. So of course I always come here first. They are always very fast with getting you in and with completing the service or repair on your car. They have fixed and maintained all of my cars starting with my first at age 16 and I'm now in my 30s. They have always stood by their work and been honest. I've never had to worry about them recommending anything that wasnt nessecary. They have fixed so many flat or leaky tires for me for free. I can not recommend them enough. read more

Holy moly! I am extremely impressed with the service and alignment that I just received from this Big O Tire. For the past year I have been going down the street to Les Schwab and paying almost $90 for a two wheel alignment. Not only did I save a bunch of money with this big O store, they fit me right in when Les Schwab would have scheduled me out the next day. Alex was very friendly and very informative. I do not know the name of the person that did my alignment but my car drives perfectly straight and is so much better than before. They even stayed 25 minutes after closing to wait for me to come pick up my vehicle. I am very impressed and will start coming here for all of my tire, suspension and Alignment needs. read more

We are in boise from out of town and came in with a bulge in the tire and then I blew another tire. They fixed both tires quickly and at no charge (we had gotten them from a big o near our house). Big shout out to the manager Alex. My son was in town from Salt Lake and needed new tires Thanksgiving Weekend. The shop said they could get them put on but they substituted much wider tires than were on his truck. With snow in the forecast I had them put on but my son complained throughout the winter the tires would rub in the wheel wells when he went over bumps. My son didn't make it back to Boise until July but Alex took full responsibility for the shop installing the wrong sized tires and replaced them for no charge. I brought my car in for an oil change. I got a call an hour later and they told me my front lower bushings were cracked and I wouldn't be able to drive my car soon. The guy working there told me it would be $425 to fix. I had brought my car to Les Schwab for tires two months before and they hadn't told me anything.
