I had a very disappointing experience with Subaru of Boise…read more I emailed inquiring about a 2026 Subaru Forester listed at MSRP of $41,500, explaining that I was interested in one vehicle now and another in about a year and a half for my other child, to keep things fair. I was upfront, serious about buying, and simply asked whether there was any flexibility on price. The sales representative, Noah, immediately seemed put off that I even asked about a discount. He offered to show "invoice pricing," and when I pointed out--accurately--that dealership invoice pricing does not reflect the dealership's true end cost, the conversation went downhill. I requested that he speak with his GM or sales manager to see if anything could be done. After some back-and-forth, instead of continuing a normal negotiation, I was told that Subaru of Boise would not do business with me at all. I am just a customer asking questions and trying to make a large purchase (actually two). As a result of this interaction, Subaru of Boise has now lost the potential of approximately $83,000 in sales across two vehicles. Being shut down completely for attempting to negotiate was unprofessional and unnecessary. If Subaru of Boise is only interested in customers who don't ask questions or discuss pricing, that should be made clear upfront. Unfortunately, this experience ensured I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

There were some things needing to still be fixed on it that they said were already fixed but weren't. At first Ryan was great about promising to get them fixed and make it right. But that is as far as it went. He directed us to multiple shops to get things fixed but NOTHING was or has been fixed still to this day on that car, 6 months later and promise after promise. Sad part is that because he seemed so nice and easy to work with we thought we would have him and his shop work on my daughters Mercedes as well. She needed a back driver side door fixed that some children had broken the leaver to open it. We took it in, told them the issue it all seemed fine. We go back to pick it up and they said......Oh we fixed the broken back window....we were like what the window wasn't broken.....They froze pretty much at that point knowing they had done the wrong thing to the wrong car. Instead of fixing the back driver side door. They supposedly fixed the back driver side window and took apart the driver's door and in the process broke that door!! And to add salt to that he wanted my daughter to pay for having that door fixed and it wasn't broken to begin with so that he could reorder the part to really fix it now and try to fix the back door as well. 4 shops later $400 dollars spent on our side the Mercedes front door is still broken, the back door is now fixed there never was anything wrong with the window and his shop ruined the secondary air compressor which we now need to replace at a cost of $600.00 AND THE BMW STILL HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED and since it won't work now 6 months later he is refusing to even fix the things we have in writing that he was going to fix as part of the deal and he won't take the car back and give my daughter her money back so now she's out that second car and $9000.00 dollars for it. Seriously DO NOT shop his lot and if he states he or his shop will fix anything run because it will end up costing you more than the original repair would have with a reputable shop to begin with. I'm really not happy Ryan and I think the way you treated my daughter because she was young was really a crappy thing to do. I honestly hope no one ever treats your children as poorly as you treated mine.

There's only three types of businesses that put me on the defense, Used Car dealers, Furniture…read morestores, and Jewelry stores. My daughter called me to tell me that she was going to see a car at Auto Star Motors and her appointment was with Steve. My "Spidey Sense" was tingling and I was on a Star Trek "Red Alert". I did a Google search, followed by some review of the model and make on Kelly Blue Book, then to Car Fax. I was prepared for the showdown. We arrived on time and let Steve finish with his previous appointment. The office is clean, neat, professional looking. We didn't get that sleazy used car dealer feeling which was a positive first impression. The car, a Subaru Crosstrek looked good and we took it for a drive in the chilly December evening. I talked to my daughter and asked what type of down payment was she going to propose. She had a plan but I was still on the defense. So many stories of customers getting screwed from used cars dealers and I have had my own personal experiences with my brother in law right here in Boise. We get back and it's time for 'Let's make a deal' The good news is that the car looked and performed well. The car fax info matched what I saw online earlier and the price was good. My daughter's trade in was on its last two wheels but Steve wanted to check it out and after his test drive, I was thankful he was still alive. He was more than up front and generous with trade in value of her car and she had some cash to put down. While I was feeling a little better about Auto Star Motors and Steve, I wasn't completely convinced. I showed Steve some of the Yelp reviews and I wanted him to provide some context. He was very transparent throughout which I appreciated. It was at that point that I told my daughter that even though I was feeling better about this whole process that she would wait until she had some more money for a down payment. I explained to Steve why I felt that and my overall concern for my daughter. It was at this point that we talked like two Dads sitting at a coffee shop. He was open, genuine and reassuring. Not once did I feel that we were getting bamboozled. I relayed my concerns and trepidations and Steve was receptive and made the efforts to understand my concerns and assured me that my daughter would be taken care of. I went home to get to the title for her jalopy aka death trip and returned back at the office. The financing was done through Capital One and my daughter knows that if she has any issues she can bring the car back to Steve and his team at Auto Star I purposely waiting to do this review almost 30 days to see how the car performs and to make sure that there weren't any issues. I'm glad to report that there hasn't been a single issue with the car or with Auto Star Motors. The experience with Steve was not a battle that I prepared for but instead was two guys who had a common goal of making sure that my daughter was safe and not getting a bad deal. Thanks Steve for making my daughter's first car shopping experience a positive one. You earned the 5 Stars.

Even after signing financing and essentially completing the purchase, the out of state dealer changed the trade agreement and failed to follow through, leaving our deal hanging. That's when I connected with Brandon and Sarah at Peterson Chevrolet. From the start, they were transparent, responsive, and incredibly helpful in explaining what was actually going on behind the scenes. More importantly, they stepped in and helped move things forward--working with my local dealer to reach a fair dealer trade agreement that should have been handled properly from the beginning. They took initiative where others didn't, and ultimately helped save a deal that had been in progress for weeks. What stood out most was their integrity. Peterson Chevrolet had very little to gain from this situation, yet they still advocated for a fair outcome and agreed to take in a vehicle that wasn't necessarily in high demand just to make the deal work. That level of professionalism and good faith is rare. While I didn't end up purchasing directly from them, I wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future. I'm incredibly grateful for their help and would absolutely recommend Brandon, Sarah, and the team at Peterson Chevrolet to anyone willing to make the trip to Idaho.

Supposed to mean customer service, not just service on the automobile. I give them three stars because they did make the effort to get me a loaner a few times. However, the second time I had them service my car it was returned to me with everything taken out of the console and left in a box on my passenger seat. Some of the seating components had been taken off and left in my console as well. I had to go back to have them put the pieces back in place. The third time I took the car in, I was treated with disdain by the service advisor when I stated that my three-year old car shouldn't have a rattle. The little jerk actually laughed at me after making excuses about how they have trucks full of brand new cars with various noises and issues that are difficult to diagnose. Was he telling me Mazda is inferior product? I had made a recording of the rattle they "couldn't reproduce" and sent it to my previous service advisor. She never acknowledged it. I asked if I could show the recording to someone else since the previous service advisor hadn't returned my last two texts and one voice mail. He smirked and referred me to the service manager. When I called the service manager's number, I got either a busy signal or a tone that sounded like a fax machine. I called the main number and left a message (they don't answer the phone much) and THEN he called me back. The regional manager is only available by email What kind of service is this? They're lucky to get three stars.
