We flew in from Texas for my daughter's wedding held at the Pretty Place and afterwards had a small reception of about 22 people. From Texas I had no clue what restaurants would be available. I started searching and found none until I called Big Mikes. Not only were they available on Mondays but they were professional, courteous, helpful and friendly. They offered exactly what I was looking for and accommodated us for the event. They had it hot and ready for us to pick up so we could take it to our meeting room at the hotel and set up before guests arrived. Every time I called I felt I was talking to a friend because they gave me their attention and made me feel it was all going to come together with no stress. As the mother of the bride that is a very relieving feeling. I would definitely recommend them again and if ever in the area I'm sure we'll stop in Big Mikes for dinner. We have eaten at Big Mike's twice. The first time was to go pizza. The pizza was very flavorful . . Yesterday we had a late lunch. Three of us shared garlic knots (12 so that we could have left overs. They really should come with a worrying. They are amazing), antipasto salad with house dressing, and 20 wings (teriyaki and Mike's Gold). Thanks to Debbie for that excellent recommendation. I think you could put the fresh marinara sauce on anything. It was outstanding. We also appreciated Debbie for taking our food order before the 2 larger parties that arrived right after us. I would recommend a beer menu that gives a brief description of each. I would have liked to see beer from each of the 4 locals breweries if that is possible. There are 2 represented. We enjoyed our meal and leftovers. We will be back next time we come to Brevard. read more

My Boyfriend went to college at Brevard, so when we drove from Chicago to Spartanburg, SC for a wedding, we had to stop so she could show me around. We stopped at Big Mike's for a late lunch. It wasn't crowded, but it was nice to get out of the heat and have a quiet place to grab a bite. We tried the two Brevard beers on tap - both great. I had a stromboli - holy cannoli - I barely barely made it through a quarter. It was ENORMOUS. And delicious! I loved how it was laquered with garlic butter, parm and parsley. The fillings were generous - a mountain of cheese, fresh mushrooms and pepperoni. My boyfriend had wings which he said he enjoyed, and we shared some garlic knots. SO GOOD. If we ever go back, Big Mike's is definitely on the list of places to return to! read more

Incredible food but LONG wait! The food was incredible. We ordered the garlic knots (AMAZING!), pizza, and a cannoli (also amazing!) for dessert. The wait was a big problem though, and I'm not sure if the issue was staff-related or kitchen-related. We probably waited an hour for our pizza, and it took a while to get a table as well. We were here on a Thursday evening, so I can't imagine what the wait must be like on Friday or Saturday. Worth the visit, but I'm glad we didn't have anything scheduled afterward. read more

Stumbled upon this place while walking downtown Brevard with family. Not bad. Kinda dirty looking inside but it's a bar so not judging too heavily on that. Food was decent. My wings were crispy and hot. Flavor was definitively hot on these bad boys. The lasagna was not good. At all. The noodles were somehow both gummy and hard in some places. Sauce was tasteless and there was literally a layer of grease that was almost as high as the layer of sauce. I ordered 2 salads, asked them to not put a few of the things listed on it - but they did so anyways, AND neither of the salads had dressing with them. Garlic bread was burnt and the garlic knots were just hard rolls and had no garlic or butter. Complete fail. read more

Stopped in after a long day checking out what's currently in bloom in the Smokies. Not a huge place, very casual and sportsy ambiance with a long bar and arcade games as well as tables. Nice selection of area beers on tap & in bottles. The server was extremely friendly and helpful, easy to talk with and made great recommendations. Companion & I both ordered the spinach manicotti in creamy tomato sauce, which comes with a substantial salad and perfectly seasoned garlic knots. I was honestly impressed with the amount of spinach in the manicotti, and the sauce was delicious. I ordered an Asheville beer I hadn't tried in a while and found it better than I remembered. We each had delicious food to take home for lunch the next day. Overall, tasty down-to-earth casual American Italian fare with terrific service. read more

We love the food but the service is awful. Once, we waited 2 hours for a pizza at which point we just had them pack it up for us to bring home since the kids had it at that point. Another time we tried to do take out instead. I got there at the time they told me it would be done, just for them to tell me "we forgot to put in your pizza but your wings are done". I waiting there for 40 mins while the pizza cooked and they gave me the old, cold wings that were finished for an hour already. Neither time we were comped anything or offered a free app or dessert. We loved the pizza so we went back a THIRD time to give them the benefit of the doubt and we stood AT THE DOOR for 10 MINUTES and no one came to seat us. This is our new favorite pizza joint. The crust is DElicious. The pizza sauce is perfect to me, not too sweet or savory. I can't attest to toppings because we haven't ventured very far. Now let's talk about CHEESE. Have you ever had melted mozzarella cheese that's so thick it almost crunches? Well Big Mike's is like that. I must say, the place can get noisy, with the owner's big booming voice. And the atmosphere is definitely "yay sports!" So, we usually take our pizza to go. Salads were a little sparse, but not bad. On top of the just okay pizza, the wait staff are there to only maybe take your order and drop off food. Do not expect a friendly face, refill, or " do you need anything" from them. As far as I'm concerned, Big Mike's is average across the board. I visited on a Tuesday night and was impressed with how busy they were. The sports-centric ambiance may not appeal to everyone, but I was a fan. However, the actual pizza simply failed to impress me all that much. I ordered a large pizza with marinara sauce, onions, green peppers, and Italian sausage. The waiting time was a little long, but I looked past it given how busy they were. As for the pizza itself, the crust was decent but too thick for my liking. I typically prefer a thin-crust pie, but the Big Mike's crust, especially towards the end of each slice, was quite thick. The cheese and, in particular, the sauce, were delicious, but the crust took away from the rest of the pizza. The toppings were average all around, though I must say that the sausage was pretty great. However, the pizza was very greasy, so much so that it soaked through the thick crust and made it soggy. That texture was far from appealing. In my opinion, Big Mike's is definitely on the average side. It's far from the worst pizza that I've ever had, but it's certainly not the best. The prices are rather steep given the quality of the food, but it's a decent place, perfect for family dinners and stuff like that. read more

I came in at 2, only 3 other people in the restaurant. Just needed a personal pizza to hold me over on the next hike. But it took 25 minutes to get a 10inch pizza. And my total was $15 for a sweet tea and personal pizza. I can get a 13" for $10 back in the city and it takes 8 minutes to come out during a packed lunch rush. So I don't recommend if you are short on time or money, you can find better. But the flavor was good, I did enjoy the food. read more

We are locals and have been eating at Big Mike's for years. We have always raves about it to others. A few years ago, however, they either changed owners or management or both. They removed all of the cool decor, the video games for kids, it has gone down hill from there. We've gone back occasionally, but have been disappointed every time. Tonight was the last straw. We arrived and it took 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. After 30 minutes we still had no drinks. There were flies everywhere. One star is generous. The road to our original destination was closed and we just so happened to drive by Big Mikes. It is a small town/local Italian place with arcades and tv's, a lot of beer, and AMAZINGLY good food. Placed an online order for 3 pizzas today at 4:30 for a 5:30 pickup. Arrived at 5:25 and gave them my name and they went in the back and came out and said "oh our oven has been down so it will be 20 minutes". No apologies, etc but after I sat down to wait, 3 others came in with call in orders and picked up a total of 7 pizzas. This gave me evidence that they lied and had not looked at their website orders. Waited another 25 minutes and never offered a drink or apology while I waited. The food is generally good. Their menu inflexibility and manager are something else. I ordered spaghettii and meatballs, and asked if I could trade in a couple of meatballs for a piece of sausage. This is routinely accomodated at every other of the many Italian restaurants I frequented. No go. If I wanted sausage, I had to order an extra $4 side of four sausages. So I spoke to the Manager (3pm, Thursday, May 3, 2018). She is better suited as a prison warden than a manager in the hospitality industry. Her attitude was they have "strict portion sizes - and that's it." I mentioned that Burger King offers greater flexibility in a segment of the industry that is known for "strict portion sizes." She offered to "speak with the owner to see if they could come up with some plan to address my request in the future." I wished her good luck because it sounded as if this would be a very difficult discussion and a real big problem to try to overcome. We both acknowledged my sarcasm as a dissatisfied and disappointed customer who expressed what he thought of her policies. That demonstrates several things to me: 1. The Manager has no discretion on how she handles portion sizes - or doesn't give a flip about customers. Does the absentee owner really expect the Manager to be that rigid? 2. There is little interest in reasonably accommodating customer requests. 3. Their rigid policies are not customer friendly. 4. The Manager couldn't care less. My experiences at other places: Customer: Instead of getting 3 or 4 meatballs with my spaghetti, can I get just one meatball and one sausage? Waiter: Sure, happy to accommodate. At Big Mike's (not a remotely managed big chain corporation): Customer: Instead of getting 3 or 4 meatballs with my spaghetti, can I get just one meatball and one sausage? Waitress: Let me check with the Manager. Manager: No. We have strict portion sizes. But I will do you this "big favor". I will discuss this possibility with the owner someday. Customer: Big corporate chains demonstrate more flexibility and better customer relations than you do. So, my suggestion: Avoid this place if you appreciate decent management and good customer service. read more

This is definitely my go to spot for pizza, wings and Italian in Brevard! The food is always excellent, the marinara is actually good here too! Went in to big mikes at 5:00 PM and ordered a burger and pasta shortly after. We then had to wait an hour and a half until our food came. When I went to the bathroom there was urine all over the toilet seat and the floor, it was absolutely disgusting.
