This little spot nestled in a local strip mall is a great "real" BBQ Spot. With true southern delights. From the Pork Rinds and Pimento Cheese to the BBQ Brisket the spot is a great place for a quick stop for dinner. Pretty sure it's the real deal too as many Southerners were there! read more

Big Mikes BBQ - Southern Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

Five star food with zero star service. I really, really, really wish there was another BBQ joint that was even close to Big Mike's in terms of the food. Let's star with the good - the brisket, pork, jalapeño sausage, and burnt ends can't be beat by any other Raleigh-area BBQ place. Hands down, this is the best. We eat a lot of BBQ, and nothing is in the same league. The sides are equally as good. We always get the blue cheese slaw. Now on to the service... Repeatedly, (this is not a once or twice issue, but a continuous issue) the service has been slow, rude, or non-existent. We will only order takeout because the service here is bad. Even when you order takeout, don't expect the food to be served with a smile, on time, or your call to go answered. Honestly, just writing this review after I sat on hold for 15 minutes with the phone off the hook (I could hear everyone talking) only to be hung up on. read more

I like this place, but I do have to file a complaint on take out. This past Friday, I ordered & picked up a bbq plate with sides of slaw and mac & cheese. They handed me the order in a paper bag & I brought it home. When I got home, I noticed that a white creamy mixture was leaking from the bottom of the bag. I brought it inside the house and found that they had placed the clamshell container in the bag on it's side with the open end of the clamshell on the bottom. So when I opened the container all the food had mixed together. I'm positive the server handed me the bag upright, so that is how I carried it home. I know it all ends up in the same place, but it was disappointing. read more

Pretty good bbq nice authentic place to sit and enjoy the food, liked the ribs and sauces

The food was amazing but there was some things that I wanted to try on the menu that they didn't have in stock.

Have been here twice and have always shared a platter between two people and still take home leftovers. The ribs, burnt ends, and mac and cheese are our favorites! We love all of the bbq sauces! We have sat outside both times, where it is dog friendly. read more

Big Mikes BBQ - Ribs, 2 Meats Plate. Coleslaw. Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. - Southern Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

We, group of 8, did not have a good experience. The attention of the waitress was scattered. We had to ask for basic things like refills, silverware multiple times. Many sides and some entrees were not available because, "Sorry, we had a big catering order." Huh? Next, two of our group ordered burgers and it took forrreeevvver for them to be served after the rest of us had our food. The burger patties were essentially charred hockey pucks. It felt like the kitchen forgot to cook them, then rushed them under a flame thrower. We gave up, paid our tab and left. Not likely to return. read more

3rd visit. 3rd time order screwed up. Ordered rib plate with two sides. Paid extra for third side. was told (after a 20 minute wait) that they ran out of ribs ( on a Saturday night at 6 pm.) Ordered brisket as a substitute. Brisket was 1/3 fat. Did not receive my third side (potato salad). Sorry guys, I won't be back. As a small business owner I am very disappointed read more

most amazing bbq. I was told to come here by a friend and I was glad I took their advice. Excellent Food, Excellent Service. I wanted to lick my plate read more

Oh boy. It's probably a good thing this place has so many four and five star reviews to keep their average up. In the few times I've been here (at least five because I don't always do a Yelp check-in), I can't say I'm overly impressed. But not for the reason you'd expect. The setting itself is fine, the barbecue okay, but it's the service that's been deplorable. Dear Brew N Que: your resto. is kinda cute and the shelves of craft beers from all over is a fun, decorative touch. Looking at them helps pass time while I wait for a table or for my to-go order. Your menu is easy enough to figure out, limited choices that don't have me whipsawing my neck as I flip from page to page and front to back and all over again. Thank you. Sorry to bother you, but I'd like to order, or get a refill on my drink, not deal with your attitude or having to track you down as you stop at every other table in the place, or watch all of you help everyone else as my takeout order sits on the counter getting cold -- and gee I'm sorry I'm asking questions you've probably had to answer a hundred times already today, but that's your issue. Deal with it. Or not. We both have choices that don't involve the other. Dine-in . . . take-out . . . it hasn't mattered. The service I've received as a solo diner and even on a carry out is horrendous. Seriously. Your food is okay . . . at least the barbecue . . . the brisket ends are delicious. The sides? Not so much. Do you save all the reheated, dried-out sides and day-old cornbread exclusively for takeouts? It sure seems that way. I'd probably rate you higher for your signature food, except I'm so disgusted with your service that I can't bring myself to do it. read more

Big Mikes BBQ - Burnt ends, brisket, chopped chicken, baked beans and potato salad - Southern Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

Average typical bbq. The brisket and Mac and cheese were good but the chopped chicken had fatty pieces all in it and I couldn't eat it. The smoked potato salad? It's not potato salad. It's potatoes smothered in cheese. Really horrible and should be explained when ordering that it's not regular potato salad. Or have a description. The wait was horrendous and most of the tables had not been cleaned so it was quite and eyesore walking in there read more

The fist time I went I was excited to get done good bbq. The portions were good and the service was great. Went back a second time and I was highly disappointed! The server was rude! The ribs were old and the burnt ends were fatty. Won't go back read more

Burnt ends get in my mouth. . Straight in my mouth! Yes, all up in my mouth! How lucky am I to randomly find this place AND get burnt ends? Thank you bartender for telling me the special, mind made up! Served on a metal tray with Bleu cheese slaw and a piece of cornbread. Their sauce is house made and they have a Carolina sauce as well. I tried the sauces and they are good, but I didn't need them for my spectacular burnt ends! The rub soaked into the meat and holy moly, I was in heaven. So tender ( butter knife tender) and juicy! The slaw was tasty, but needed a bit of salt. The cornbread was my disappointment (I had read precious reviews that speak about the amazing honey butter), it was very hard and you could tell it was leftover.. :-( this really made me sad. I digress, let's get back to my BURNT ENDS.... I only speak the truth when I say, the best I have had! This location is super small with about 3 to 4 picnic syle tables and room for about 10 at their bar. They only serve craft beer, but their selection is huge.. almost looks like a total wine and more aisle! If I'm ever back in this area, I will be back. Super happy with the quality of the meat and the service was excellent! read more

After moving to the area we began looking for an good bbq place. Found this one and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We ordered the sample platter and cleaned it off. All the meat is tender and the rubs and spices are done to perfection. Our favorite was the chicken wings and sausage. The brisket was a close second. I also enjoyed the variety of beers on tap from across the state. We now take visitors here. read more

I was recommended this by a client. It was decent. I had the brisket, baked beans and fries. Unfortunately the burnt ends are only sold on Wednesday and Saturday's. read more

I don't know about the BBQ here, but the half chicken is amazing!! And the potato salad, I could literally eat a vat of that stuff!! Good beer selection, and can even get bottles to take home. Being from Eastern NC, I had some high hopes for this place! Walking in, everything was very welcoming. The host was nice and smiling. took a little bit long to be waited on at the table. My drink was never refilled. I had to get up to do it myself when other customers were having refills for them by the waitress. The food was really bad. I hate it but this was nothing less than disappointing. The brisket was overcooked and room temperature. The texture was hard as if it had been sitting for hours. The pulled pork was juicy but unfortunately a room temperature. The mac and cheese was ............ not good. The corn bread was not corn bread. It was actually hard and crumbly. This food was terrible. Vinegar based sauce was not good. Overall, this was the worst restaurant I've eaten at in Cary. This for sure was the worst bbq place I've ever eaten at. read more

I was on a work trip to North Carolina and there is absolutely no way I was going to leave without trying some good southern bbq. Big Mikes did just the trick and I slept like a baby once I got back to my hotel room. I tried the 3 Meat Platter, Ribs, Brisket, and Wings. And for my sides I picked cornbread and Mac cheese. The sides were okay, but the meats stole the show. Ribs had a slightly spicy bbq sauce, brisket was tender, and the wings were crispy and very flavorful. As a tip, you can order pot liquor upon request, and if you're like me and not sure what this is, it's basically the left over juices from collard greens, turnips, and mustards, cooked all day in a pot. This broth paired with salty meat is amazing! read more

Seated without menus for 5 minutes. Not busy either. Bbq place is out of ribs. Seriously? Ordered brisket. One inch thick dry af meat is not "Texas brisket". Beans were bush beans from the can. Potato salad made with taco seasoning?? Cucumbers were good. Hubs liked the beers. Disappointing North Carolina bbq experience. Dickies has better bbq hands down lolol. Signed, Texas. Ps. Y'all should visit to learn how to bbq. read more

My favorite BBQ in Cary! Service has always been great and I've never been disappointed. Everything I have ordered here has been excellent!

The food was not freshly made tasted old. The customer service was great, however the food was not good at all.

Brew and qué? Brew N Que! I'm in Raleigh visiting my cousin, and she decided to take us to get some authentic North Carolina barbecue. And I'm glad that she did, because I loved it! Specifically, I loved 5 things. First of all, they have a great range of local ciders and IPA's. Second the have some stellar sides. Try the smoked potato salad! It's cheesy! Third, try the pork platter. I gladly ate 0.5 lbs of meat with only a little regret. Fourth, it comes with some dank corn bread. Delicious. Lastly, the service and atmosphere was relaxed and pretty great. Bravo!!! Try this place!!! read more

The two of us had been craving BBQ for a while, and Big Mike's BBQ (formerly Brew N Que?) really hit the spot. They offer takeout and delivery (through a third party service) during COVID-19. We shared their "Choice of 2 Meats" plate and a Rib plate (babyback, half rack). For the "Choice of Two Meats" you can pick between chopped BBQ, chicken BBQ, brisket (extra $2), smoked jalapeño sausage, and smoked wings. We got the brisket and smoked jalapeño sausage. Their plates come with a choice of 2 sides each. It was hard to decide which ones to try, but ultimately we settled on the smoked gouda mac 'n' cheese, smoked potato salad, collard greens, and Granny's cornbread. HOLY MOLY, do yourself a favor and get the SMOKED POTATO SALAD! Seriously. It is more like cheesy potatoes than a potato salad. I wish I had ordered an entree's worth. The ribs were also phenomenal, and the brisket was a close second in terms of the meat for me. read more

Big Mikes BBQ - Choice of 2 Meats (top) with mac n cheese and collard greens, Ribs with cornbread and smoked potato salad (bottom) - Southern Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

Husband and I have had this place bookmarked for a while so I was stoked when he decided he didn't mind driving from North Durham to Cary after work this past Friday. The place is smaller than I expected, with two picnic tables in the back as well as a few small tables and bar seating. My guess is that they can seat about 20-25 people total in the restaurant at a time. We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered and were told the wait may be about 25 minutes. We only waited about 15 minutes for an open table, which wasn't bad at all for a Friday night, and we enjoyed looking at the shelves of beer while we waited. I don't drink, but my husband was really happy with the tap selection. And we liked that they are listed above the bar and also on a screen in the back portion of the dining room. They also have two small fridges in the front of the restaurant, so you're bound to find something you like if you're a beer drinker. We ordered a pork sandwich with regular slaw, a brisket sandwich with blue cheese slaw, mac and cheese, and smoked potato salad. The pork was perfectly moist and I really liked it paired with a mixture of their vinegar and sweet bbq sauces. The buns were light and fluffy without falling apart. My husband is from Texas and he thought the brisket was a little tough but he really enjoyed the tangy flavor of the blue cheese slaw it was paired with. The mac and cheese was pretty bland and a bit too mushy for me, but he really liked it. We both LOVED the smoked potato salad and would come back just for that! The service we received was fantastic and, overall, the food was pretty tasty! We look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. read more

Bbq is very tasty, I've only been once. The baked beans were great as well. They have many sauces to choose from for the bbq.

They surely know how to do BBQ right! I've been here a few times and I've always left happy and full. I've had the Chopped BBQ and the Half Smoked Chicken Plates and I really love the smokiness that you get in the meat - especially on the skin of the chicken. I've had a variety of the sides including the smoked gouda mac 'n' cheese, smoked potato salad, baked beans, and tater tots. BY FAR the best side is the smoked potato salad. Typically when you think potato salad, you think of the cold mayo or mustard style. BUT this is a warm potato salad that has this creamy sauce and it's cheesy and just so dang delicious. Definitely get this side! I made the mistake of not ordering it during my first visit. My husband had ordered it and once he let me try a bit of his, I was extremely jealous that I hadn't ordered it myself. We've ordered food to go from here before and you get a super generous portion of the sides (probably more so than when you actually eat there). So do yourself a favor during this pandemic and don't be afraid to order to go! read more

The sides are absolutely delicious. The beans are tasty and homemade, the roasted potato salad is awesome because its crispy. The ribs were good and juicy. I wasn't a fan of the cornbread bc it was a little dry. The Gouda Mac and cheese was awesome and rich. The sweet tea was wonderful. read more

You'd think it would be easy to find good bbq in North Carolina, but we had a heck of a time doing so. We stumbled upon Big Mikes and are so glad we can share a very positive review. Everything we tried was bold and flavorful, delicious bbq from start to finish. The saucy ribs. The smoky chicken wings. And Granny's cornbread - so so so good. I'd stop by here again in a hot second for some flavorful bbq. Thanks so much! read more

Love a good bbq place and this joint was a Yelp discovery. Pulling up you could smell the aroma of smoked meats and the cooker is outside in front of the entry. I ordered a brisket sandwich with slaw. My expectations were high as the place was busy and everyone had huge platters in front of them. The meat was tender and served on a nice brioche bun. I rated this as good but great because my sandwich had zero smoke flavor in the meat. I love a good smoked brisket and while my tummy is full my taste buds want something more. read more

Wonderful BBQ and best Brussels Spouts I have ever had. Casual neighborhood place. Good service

Having come down to the South for a business trip, I decided that it only made sense to try an authentic BBQ joint that the locals went to. A quick lookup on Yelp led us to this charming location. While the menu was by no means expansive, the small selection allowed me to quickly narrow down what I was craving. I ended up with the beef brisket with two sides of mac and cheese and collard greens. Additionally, I also added the daily special of smoked ribs. All in all, everything was delicious, the bark that had formed on the brisket was a particular standout - providing strong, smokey flavors to the tender beef. The ribs were a solid choice too, with my only complaint being that I wished there were more. If you are a BBQ enthusiast then definitely come check this place out. They also have a huge beer selection that we unfortunately did not get the opportunity to sample. read more

Solid, solid Carolina BBQ place. Nice beer selection, all of the classic meats you could hope for, and some delicious sides. Service was pretty fast and super friendly, and the meats were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the pulled pork (I'm sorry... the BBQ) and the cornbread (YUM). Just watch out for anything spicy or sriracha... it's a lot spicier than you would think! read more

We were looking for a BBQ place near our hotel and found Big Mikes BBQ. We arrived for a early dinner and was seated inside on picnic tables.
