I like this place, but I do have to file a complaint on take out. This past Friday, I ordered & picked up a bbq plate with sides of slaw and mac & cheese. They handed me the order in a paper bag & I brought it home. When I got home, I noticed that a white creamy mixture was leaking from the bottom of the bag. I brought it inside the house and found that they had placed the clamshell container in the bag on it's side with the open end of the clamshell on the bottom. So when I opened the container all the food had mixed together. I'm positive the server handed me the bag upright, so that is how I carried it home. Had been coming here semi-regularly since they opened. This visit we were sad to see the prices had seemed to have doubled since spring. The sauces seemed different and overly sweet, the collards seemed unseasoned, the maccaroni and cheese had an odd almost packet taste to it. The burnt ends were not brisket and were a cheaper cut and the saddest thing was the usually excellent pork was very average. We won't be back. read more

Oh boy. It's probably a good thing this place has so many four and five star reviews to keep their average up. In the few times I've been here (at least five because I don't always do a Yelp check-in), I can't say I'm overly impressed. But not for the reason you'd expect. The setting itself is fine, the barbecue okay, but it's the service that's been deplorable. Dear Brew N Que: your resto. is kinda cute and the shelves of craft beers from all over is a fun, decorative touch. Looking at them helps pass time while I wait for a table or for my to-go order. Your menu is easy enough to figure out, limited choices that don't have me whipsawing my neck as I flip from page to page and front to back and all over again. Thank you. Sorry to bother you, but I'd like to order, or get a refill on my drink, not deal with your attitude or having to track you down as you stop at every other table in the place, or watch all of you help everyone else as my takeout order sits on the counter getting cold -- and gee I'm sorry I'm asking questions you've probably had to answer a hundred times already today, but that's your issue. Deal with it. Or not. We both have choices that don't involve the other. Dine-in . . . take-out . . . it hasn't mattered. Thank you bartender for telling me the special, mind made up! Served on a metal tray with Bleu cheese slaw and a piece of cornbread. Their sauce is house made and they have a Carolina sauce as well. I tried the sauces and they are good, but I didn't need them for my spectacular burnt ends! The rub soaked into the meat and holy moly, I was in heaven. So tender ( butter knife tender) and juicy! The slaw was tasty, but needed a bit of salt. The cornbread was my disappointment (I had read precious reviews that speak about the amazing honey butter), it was very hard and you could tell it was leftover.. :-( this really made me sad. I digress, let's get back to my BURNT ENDS.... I only speak the truth when I say, the best I have had! This location is super small with about 3 to 4 picnic syle tables and room for about 10 at their bar. They only serve craft beer, but their selection is huge.. almost looks like a total wine and more aisle! If I'm ever back in this area, I will be back. Being from Eastern NC, I had some high hopes for this place! Walking in, everything was very welcoming. The host was nice and smiling. took a little bit long to be waited on at the table. My drink was never refilled. I had to get up to do it myself when other customers were having refills for them by the waitress. The food was really bad. I hate it but this was nothing less than disappointing. The brisket was overcooked and room temperature. The texture was hard as if it had been sitting for hours. The pulled pork was juicy but unfortunately a room temperature. The mac and cheese was ............ not good. The corn bread was not corn bread. It was actually hard and crumbly. This food was terrible. Vinegar based sauce was not good. Overall, this was the worst restaurant I've eaten at in Cary. This for sure was the worst bbq place I've ever eaten at. read more

I was on a work trip to North Carolina and there is absolutely no way I was going to leave without trying some good southern bbq. Big Mikes did just the trick and I slept like a baby once I got back to my hotel room. I tried the 3 Meat Platter, Ribs, Brisket, and Wings. And for my sides I picked cornbread and Mac cheese. The sides were okay, but the meats stole the show. Ribs had a slightly spicy bbq sauce, brisket was tender, and the wings were crispy and very flavorful. As a tip, you can order pot liquor upon request, and if you're like me and not sure what this is, it's basically the left over juices from collard greens, turnips, and mustards, cooked all day in a pot. Great service. Our server was very polite and fast. We stopped in for lunch during the week and were told kids eat free that day. I thought that was a cool offer. We both ordered similar plates and the portions were very generous. I had a three meat plate with ribs, smoked wings and brisket. Specifically, I loved 5 things. First of all, they have a great range of local ciders and IPA's. Second the have some stellar sides. Try the smoked potato salad! It's cheesy! The two of us had been craving BBQ for a while, and Big Mike's BBQ (formerly Brew N Que?) really hit the spot. They offer takeout and delivery (through a third party service) during COVID-19. We shared their "Choice of 2 Meats" plate and a Rib plate (babyback, half rack). For the "Choice of Two Meats" you can pick between chopped BBQ, chicken BBQ, brisket (extra $2), smoked jalapeño sausage, and smoked wings. We got the brisket and smoked jalapeño sausage. Their plates come with a choice of 2 sides each. It was hard to decide which ones to try, but ultimately we settled on the smoked gouda mac 'n' cheese, smoked potato salad, collard greens, and Granny's cornbread. HOLY MOLY, do yourself a favor and get the SMOKED POTATO SALAD! Seriously. It is more like cheesy potatoes than a potato salad. I wish I had ordered an entree's worth. Husband and I have had this place bookmarked for a while so I was stoked when he decided he didn't mind driving from North Durham to Cary after work this past Friday. The place is smaller than I expected, with two picnic tables in the back as well as a few small tables and bar seating. My guess is that they can seat about 20-25 people total in the restaurant at a time. We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered and were told the wait may be about 25 minutes. We only waited about 15 minutes for an open table, which wasn't bad at all for a Friday night, and we enjoyed looking at the shelves of beer while we waited. I don't drink, but my husband was really happy with the tap selection. And we liked that they are listed above the bar and also on a screen in the back portion of the dining room. They also have two small fridges in the front of the restaurant, so you're bound to find something you like if you're a beer drinker. We ordered a pork sandwich with regular slaw, a brisket sandwich with blue cheese slaw, mac and cheese, and smoked potato salad. The pork was perfectly moist and I really liked it paired with a mixture of their vinegar and sweet bbq sauces. The buns were light and fluffy without falling apart. My husband is from Texas and he thought the brisket was a little tough but he really enjoyed the tangy flavor of the blue cheese slaw it was paired with. The mac and cheese was pretty bland and a bit too mushy for me, but he really liked it. We both LOVED the smoked potato salad and would come back just for that! The service we received was fantastic and, overall, the food was pretty tasty! We look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. read more

They surely know how to do BBQ right! I've been here a few times and I've always left happy and full. I've had the Chopped BBQ and the Half Smoked Chicken Plates and I really love the smokiness that you get in the meat - especially on the skin of the chicken. I've had a variety of the sides including the smoked gouda mac 'n' cheese, smoked potato salad, baked beans, and tater tots. BY FAR the best side is the smoked potato salad. Typically when you think potato salad, you think of the cold mayo or mustard style. BUT this is a warm potato salad that has this creamy sauce and it's cheesy and just so dang delicious. Definitely get this side! I made the mistake of not ordering it during my first visit. My husband had ordered it and once he let me try a bit of his, I was extremely jealous that I hadn't ordered it myself. We've ordered food to go from here before and you get a super generous portion of the sides (probably more so than when you actually eat there). So do yourself a favor during this pandemic and don't be afraid to order to go! read more

Love a good bbq place and this joint was a Yelp discovery. Pulling up you could smell the aroma of smoked meats and the cooker is outside in front of the entry. I ordered a brisket sandwich with slaw. My expectations were high as the place was busy and everyone had huge platters in front of them. The meat was tender and served on a nice brioche bun. While the menu was by no means expansive, the small selection allowed me to quickly narrow down what I was craving. I ended up with the beef brisket with two sides of mac and cheese and collard greens. Additionally, I also added the daily special of smoked ribs. All in all, everything was delicious, the bark that had formed on the brisket was a particular standout - providing strong, smokey flavors to the tender beef. The ribs were a solid choice too, with my only complaint being that I wished there were more. If you are a BBQ enthusiast then definitely come check this place out. Probably one of the better BBQ places I've tried. When you come in, you can sit wherever. They have a good selection of beers and food. They have some interesting selections on draft. Their BBQ was really good. I tried their 2 meat platter. I should've tried 3 since I was afraid how much food they will give. The 2 meat platter was a nice portion. The two meats I got were the chopped pork and brisket. I also tried their ribs. Their pork was flavorful and tender. It was great. Their brisket was so juicy and tender. It almost melted in your mouth. Their ribs were amazing as well. It was cooked perfectly, where the meat came off the bone easily (but not slid off). The rub on the rib was amazing. It was a delicious rib. I liked their sauces too. One was straight up vinegar. And the other one was thicker, sweet-spicy sauce. If you want some good BBQ, try this place out. read more
