Burnt Ends, Chicken, Coleslaw, Smoked Potato Salad
Kim M.

Listen... I'm not saying I'd elbow someone out of the way for Big Mike's burnt ends, but I am saying I'm not sharing them. With anyone. Ever. These things are otherworldly -- melt-in-your-mouth tender with that crisp, caramelized, candy-coated exterior that should honestly be illegal. I happily make the 90-minute drive from Moore County because this BBQ is that good. The chicken? Juicy. The brisket? Fantastic. But the burnt ends? Those are the reason I'm blocking off my schedule and grabbing my keys like I've got somewhere holy to be. The fries were perfectly cooked (crispy but not trying too hard), and their spin on potato salad was surprisingly delicious -- they smoke the potatoes, and somehow that makes the whole thing taste like comfort food's cooler, more interesting cousin. If you're thinking about going... go. Just don't expect me to share my burnt ends. I meant what I said.

I am a huge fan of BBQ baby backs and Big Mikes serves up some tasty ribs. I ate half a rack in one seating. It comes with two sides and I tried the beans and collards, both were also very good. I like the vinegar BBQ sauce. I sat outside to enjoy some sunshine, but indoor seating is also available. Plenty of parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

Loaded mac n cheese, cucumber salad, bbq

First tried this place awhile ago due to so the good reviews. Got food to go and waited for it to be ready. The wait wasn't too long. It was more of an afternoon time during the week day so it wasn't too busy. Ordered Mac n cheese, cucumber salad, and bbq. The decor inside was cute. It had a nice little sitting area. The outdoor patio seems to be pretty popular as well. The food was ok. I felt all of it was pretty dry and not that flavorful. I added sauces and seasonings When I was home. I was thinking it might have been a one off experience but my neighbor said they had the same thoughts about it.

I ordered take out on a Saturday evening. It was really fast, but I also came at 5:00 -probably before the dinner rush. I tried the brisket, mac and cheese, and collards. I enjoyed everything! The brisket was tender and had so much flavor. The Mac and cheese was creamy and wonderful. The collards were tasty with a little kick of heat. Delicious!

We had a great experience at Big Mike's BBQ! Honestly, we were a little skeptical at first, but I'm so glad we gave it a try. I was really craving brisket, and this place did not disappoint. If you're like me and want a little bit of everything, I highly recommend the Big Mike's Platter--it comes with three sides and a generous portion of meat that can easily feed 5-6 people. We paired our meal with a cold beer, and I loved that they offer local options. The staff was warm and friendly, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. This spot truly deserves more attention--great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back! Oh, great for family & friends and tons of outdoor seating.

We ordered a lot BBQ last May for a pre-Graduation dinner at the BNB House we rented for my brother's graduation with our family. The BBQ in which we ordered everything was yummy and delicious! The side of collard greens, Mac and cheese and okra were top notch. Seriously different BBQ from CA, TX or any other state I have order BBQ. It was moist and juicy and made with quality meats. It was all superb. We ordered ahead of time and bought a few hundred dollars of BBQ and sides for 7 family members. When we arrived to pick it up, it was all there and ready to go. Service was quick and fast. Only wish was that they had rice as a side so I got some next door at the Chinese restaurant. Ambiance was typical BBQ and it was steady business. Big Mikes is an excellent representation of North Carolina BBQ which is well know. I liked it and definitely distinct from TX and MO BBQ. If you are in the area, head in there and get a platter which has samples of meats available from sausage, brisket, pulled pork and chicken! BTW I hate drowning my food in sauces.

Crazy good BBQ. Nachos were different, but the more we are, the more we wanted. The Brisket was melt in your mouth, fall apart goodness. Let me tell you, the Burnt Ends were unanimously agreed to be absolutely phenomenal...the perfect balance of seasonings with sweet, it was like little meaty candied morsels. Everything was so perfect, even though nothing needed it, we had to try their original sauces which added just enough zest to an already delightful meal. On a side note...the Smoked Potato Salad was such an interesting twist ... It almost was meat like in taste and texture, like nothing I've ever encountered. So glad we had leftovers... excited to have more later

Interesting place, on a pretty day you can sit out side and get served. Or sit inside in the bar area or sit at a table in another room. Check out the pictures. I placed an Order to go, and the waitress was very nice helping me out. I ordered a lb of Chopped BBQ Pork, very good, lb of Chopped BBQ Chicken, I would not get this again, the sauce was good but the Chicken may have been left over from the day before. A lb of Texas Style Brisket, it was good but they put goood slices on the top and hid very fatty slices underneath. Then a Jalapeno/ Cheddar Sausage Link, not bad, good heat to it. Would I go back again...no. If there is a Big Mike, I would reevaluate the food you serve and step up the quality.

They were doing everything right, even down to the Dr Brown's, and they had ZERO flavors too. There is a meat and cheese counter,r but most of the length of the shop is pastries, cakes, pies, es and other beautiful-looking treats. We ordered our sandwiches; I had an Italian sub, and it was just ok, kind of dry and lacking in flavor; frankly, Jersey Mike's makes a better Italian. But my wife got theReubenn, and it was simply the best Reuben we've had outside of Katz in NYC. I order Rueben's all the time, and I'm consistently disappointed. Most are dried out, have too little meat, and the corned beef is often dry, but not in this case. The sandwich was truly worthy, and we are ready to go back and have it again. Moist, flavorful meat, a generous portion, and the dressing andkraut weres well balanced. The bread was grilled, not toasted, and was itself rich and flavorful. Altogether, it is a Reuben worth driving a distance to have it. We are already planning to come back and try some of the baked goods, but also get the Reuben again too.

This time I ordered ahead and made my own. Yum. Loved skipping the line and just picking it up. Marble rye toasted, mustard, smoked cheddar, spinach, red onions and turkey. The sandwich was huge. I also asked for a pickle and got two over wrapped spears. While I didn't love all the plastic, they were great. Nice surprise. I had the second half for breakfast the next day.

You walk in and have a little self-type market area and immediately to the right there are refrigerators with prepared meals to buy and take home. Straight after the Shelf section there is the butcher shop with all cuts of meats. I liked the concept where you could even pick your meats and have the chef cook them there for you and you can dine in! They also had an area for dining in and sitting at a bar. The bar had many choices of drinks and a wine section in the back to the side. There was a patio area as well. I decided to have some lunch so I got the salmon BLT which was delicious and I got the side of hot honey brussel sprouts. I ordered some lasagna to take home for a meal later. The salmon was cooked perfectly at a medium temperature and the flavoring was great. The brussel sprouts had just enough kick to them and was a great portion size for two or more. The lasagna was good and also a good size but it is a little bit spicy so if you dont like spice be prepared for a little tiny bit. All was delish. The pricing for everything is on point and not too expensive. They also have specials most of the days of the week! Peyton helped me with my to go orders and I met Ralph the owner who told me about the concept of everything. I will definitely be back and I would highly recommend! Second time back was wonderful! Sat and dined in. I got the $1 wings special with barbecue, mac and cheese, and salmon salad. The wings were jumbo size which is great because unlike other places they weren't the size of your pinky. The mac and cheese was very flavorful with the small crisp. The salmon salad was neat because it came and deconstructed segments so you could really pick which toppings you wanted on each bite. The dressing on it was amazing and so was the ranch for the wings. I was attended to by Desiah and Liam who were other so personable and lovely! All of the portions are amazing and I love it because I have food for a few days. Definitely going to come back again to try some of the new items that they've added to their menu.

Baja Turkey is made with turkey breast with chipotle honey lime yogurt sauce, shaved cabbage, pickled red onions, avocado, and pepper jack cheese. I didn't get avocado and added bacon and WOW! What a sandwich this was. Every bite was bursting with excitement. Don't walk, run over there to get yours. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to try Breakfast. The interior is glass on two sides, so it very bright, and appointed with comfy chairs with waist-high dividers around the bar and small table area. My friend arrived at 5:15 as promised and we were escorted to a table further down the building. The bartender brought my bill to the table later, and I asked if it could be added to the total but he said no. I had read about the pimento cheese wontons, so we decided to try those as a starter. They arrived hot and dressed with a red pepper jelly sauce. (Not too hot, a nice foil to the pimento cheese!) My friend liked them as well. Neither of us are eating large meals these days, so we opted to share an entree. We decided on the NY Strip steak ($38) which comes with smoked potato au gratin and collard greens. We tried to sub the greens for anything else, and the only other option was Brussels sprouts. (Green beans? Broccoli? Asparagus? Anything else? Nope, just stinky stuff.) So, stinky veggies were the only option. (We asked the waiter not to bring them, but they arrived anyway, and we had someone remove them quickly!) The potato's turned out to be more a chunky soup, rather than a casserole, but were tasty. Just difficult to share. (No spoons were offered for the soup!) The steak was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection (rare/medium rare) with a nice finishing sauce, and was just enough. Somehow, that steak, the wonton app ($11) and a regular house marg were billed at $88 after tax, which meant over $100 with tip, but I was enjoying my friend's company too much to dispute the bill. After I left, I did the math and figure they charged extra for something in there. But I was gone and never take the receipt, because most waitstaff do a good job of putting info into the POS system. Maybe I need to reassess my trust of waitstaff data entry. Suffice it to say this will not be a regular spot I go to. Stinky veggies, poor data entry and sides that can't easily be shared made for a sour first impression. The steak was good, but I can't find that extra $30 in anything, unless it was the toxic veggie disposal fee.
