Menu dim sum
Diana W.

Our favorite minimum quality lunch/dinner special place! Dim sum is only okay. The chef seems better on weekends. All day lunch and dinner specials $10.99-$16.99 allowed as take-out (1 bowl rice and 1 soup bowl included lunch; only dessert for dinner), $3.88 dim sum until 3pm, and spend $50 to get a free meat dish (chicken, duck or pork - chicken maybe being a tad better than the others). $7.99 super dinner special 5pm-10pm that's dine-in only. $1.75 cost per person for tea. Expect OG canto service (wave down, not as polite or like too many requests or any special requests, etc). 3ppl/$25 each for large amt we ordered to also get the free chicken (except they forgot one dim sum item and just took it off our receipt). After 2pm super late Sunday lunch, plenty of available seating. - $10.99 String beans: okay. Not bad. Not oily. Just tad under cooked but fine. - $13.99 Salt and Pepper Pork Chop: light spiced/mild spice. Flakey batter. Not too bad. - $13.99 Stir fry intestine with pickled cabbage: no. Cabbage was all sugar. - $3.88 Sui-mai: was good. Better than last time. It's a must. - Radish Cake (they forgot this so we just took it off the receipt and they let us keep the free chicken) - $3.88 BBQ pork bun white bread. Eh, felt like grocery market frozen ones. Not good. - $3.88 Chicken feet was okay. Can order it again. - Free chicken: Not as much meat but not too bad being free. Out of the duck and pork, chicken is the least worse from our experience so far. Overall, this place is less salty, saucy and oily than many places, in a good way! If we wanted better quality lunch special (pricer), then we'd go to Taste of MP. We refuse to wait in line at Red99 though; limited menu but best bang for your buck if okay with the limited menu.

I first brought my family to Big Ma's Kitchen during their grand opening, and at that time we really enjoyed both the food and the service. Because of that good first experience, I was excited to come back after seeing their Dinner Special for $7.99 with 16 different dishes. The prices looked very reasonable, so I decided to bring my family here for dinner tonight. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different from our first one. The restaurant was packed and every table was full. We had a party of 7 and waited around 30 minutes before getting seated. We ended up ordering 9 dishes, but once the food came out, we were really disappointed by how small the portions were. Even at $7.99 per dish, the portions felt too small for dining in, especially when sharing with a family. One of the biggest frustrations was the fish dish. I asked the server about five times if they could check whether the fish was coming soon, and I even said that if it had not been started yet, we would rather cancel it. It still took around 40 minutes before the fish finally arrived. The restaurant was also extremely loud. With so many people talking around us, we could barely hear each other and had to almost shout just to have a conversation. The whole meal felt uncomfortable and rushed instead of relaxing. Unfortunately, some of the food was also disappointing. Some of the meat was very dry, and the crispy skin on one dish was so hard that it was difficult to chew. With the small portions, our family still did not feel full even after ordering 9 dishes. Service was another major issue. We had to repeatedly ask several times for different things, including checking on our food, getting to-go boxes and bags, and even getting the check. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and some of the interactions felt unfriendly. It was disappointing because our first visit during the grand opening was actually very good, which is why we came back. But after tonight's experience, I don't think we will be returning. For our family, this will most likely be our last visit.

I have been here several times for lunch dim sum. This time I tried the new $7.99 Dinner Special at Big Ma's Kitchen $7.99 DINE IN ONLY Dinner Special: Available for dine-in only from 5-10 PM (except holiday). I recommend checking with the restaurant before going, as the special may be subject to change depending on customer volume. I saw other review that it was not available Friday to Sunday. But I went on Sunday and it was available. This is a pretty good deal in SGV. The portions are on the smaller side, and rice is an additional $1.50, but hot tea is free. Plus, they give you a free extra plate (I picked soy sauce chicken) with orders over $50, which is nice when sharing with a group. Not every dish was a favorite, I would say food about 3 stars but worth 1 extra star for this price. I went around 6 PM on Sunday and there was no wait when I arrived, but the restaurant got noticeably more crowded shortly after I sat down. Here's what we tried: Roast Pork -- My favorite! Juicy meat with nicely crispy skin. Roast Duck -- Tasty enough for this price Soy Sauce Chicken -- Free with a $50+ order. The meat was very tender. Salt & Pepper Pork Chop -- Good as usual, but the portion was smaller than expected. Pork with Napa Cabbage in Stone Pot -- Nice to have a claypot-style dish at this price! Steamed Egg with Shrimp -- The egg was a little over-steamed. BBQ Pork -- Too lean for my taste; I prefer my char siu with a little more fat. Garlic Pork - This dish is not really garlic to me. Curry Chicken -- Basically boiled broccoli and chicken topped with curry sauce. Not my favorite. No one bothered to take the left over. The $7.99 dinner special is a great budget-friendly option if you're looking for a casual Cantonese meal. They also serve complimentary red bean soup for dessert. It was noisy but I think it is normal for Chinese Restaurant, Service is acceptable, I see the staff tried their best to serve everyone. My recommendation is, come early to avoid the wait.

Roast Duck -- LOTS OF MEAT!!

I was craving some roast duck and I wanted to try a place new. Been seeing this newly renovated restaurant and decided to try it out. I can only speak of the to-go section and not the actual dine in experience. The duck here look a bit darker and less red compared to other places in the area so I was a bit hesitant, but I'm glad I decided to try it out and I'm glad that I did. They have very meaty ducks and aren't skinny and it is actually well flavored. The duck taste like it was marinated over night and the flavor goes all the way to the inside. I was impressed. The credit card minimum is 30 dollars and since half a duck wasn't enough, I ordered some roast pork. Minimum weight for roast pork is 1 lbs. The roast pork was so so. The skin was crispy and the meat wasn't dry but the flavor was lacking. I feel like it wasn't roasted enough to get those nice charred bits on the meat side. The service here is relatively quick. Got what I needed and paid and left quickly. There was a bit of a line but it moved fast. In the to go section they also had Dimsum and food you can scoop in like Small, Medium, and Large boxes. It didn't really appeal to me so I didn't try it. The dim sum is a bit pricey, it's like 5.68 each plus tax and that's like more expensive than sit down places. One thing I didn't like was there's quite a few people smoking outside near the entrance. Bleh. Overall, the duck here is good.

Went Sunday 11AM Food: $3.88 dim sum Egg Tart: 5/5 flaky and tasty Chicken Sticky Wrap: 3.5/5 average Spare Rib: 4/5 garlicky and flavorful Shrimp Siu Mai: 3/5 average Salt and Spicy Pork Chop: 3/5 Pork is good but the portion is small for $13.99 and the flavor is not authentic Cantonese Salt and Spice... No rice rolls Tea charge: $1.75 per person Service: food, fast, and attentive Ambiance: better than I expected

If you spend 50 bucks you get a free food item . We where offer chick or bbq pork. They have a special after 5 p.m. not rice or soup

Parking was good since they have a lot. There are two entrances so I got a bit confused but all good! One of the women working there was kind of mean lol but the guy waiter was really nice. He made sure we got our food and had great communication. The food was really good. My mom loved the chicken. Egg tarts were good too. The crispy pork skin was soooo delicious!

Came during a weekend dinner time. Parking was to find on their lot. Place was busy as there was a family taking three big tables. They only provided us with the lunch menu when we arrived. If you spend $50 or more, you get to spin the wheel for a free dish. They asked us what we wanted and we requested the 免费烤鸭 or Roasted Duck. We didn't spin the wheel. Later, we saw that crab was one of the free item you could spin for, so we immediately ask the waiter to change the free item, but she said they already cut up the duck. Also, they said you have to spin to get the crab. We've been here many time and have not see anyone spin for the crab. We ordered the 清蒸鲈鱼 or Steamed Sea Bass with Soy Sauce for $16.99, 乾煸四李豆 or Stir-fried String Beans for $10.99, 海鲜扒炸豆腐 or Seafood Fried Tofu for $13.99, and 宮保雞丁 or Kung Pao Chicken for $10.99. We also ordered white rice for $1.50 per bowl. All of the dishes were really salty. We saw other tables had the Dinner Special menu. We didn't like that we didn't get a complete menu when we definitely came during the Dinner Special time. The complimentary red bean dessert at the end wasn't bad. The food was too salty and service was not good this time.

Okay so my family and I stopped by Big Ma's Kitchen in Rosemead for dim sum this past weekend and I'm still thinking about it. We ordered a solid spread. The Lo Mai Gai (steamed rice wrapped in lotus leaf) was probably my favorite of the day, so soft and savory once you unwrap it. We also got the siu mai (pork and shrimp dumplings, obviously non-negotiable), a deep fried meat dumpling that had the perfect crunch, and finished things off with the coconut pudding for dessert. Here's the part that made the whole meal though. They've got a promo right now where if you spend over $50, you get to spin a prize wheel for a free item. My dad spun it and somehow landed on a completely free roast pork plate. We were not expecting that and it made the whole meal feel like a win. Portions were generous, everything came out fresh and hot, and the price point is honestly hard to beat for what you're getting. This is one of those spots that doesn't need to be fancy because the food just speaks for itself. Although it's worth mentioning that they do have HERMES plates and cups and a decent ambiance. If you're in the SGV and looking for a solid weekend dim sum spot with your family, put this on the list. We'll be back, and hopefully we get lucky on that wheel again.

So far, I've been here for dim sum and dinner, Big Ma's Kitchen is consistent overall. Flavors are on point and prices are very reasonable. Most importantly, it got my Asian mother's stamp of approval. The $3.88 dim sum special can't be beat. They also take reservations, so that came in handy this past Friday lunch with my party of 10. The total bill was $235 and that was a steal for all the food and beers we got. The Temu Hermés tableware is a plus.

Your typical Chinese Dim Sum restaurant serving the basic dishes like siu mai, shrimp dumpling, xiao long Bao, steamed rice roll with shrimp or beef and others. They also have some other unique stores fried dishes but we were there for the Dim Sum only. All dishes were what we expected with the exception of the siu mai. That was good. Services are as expected in a Chinese restaurant and forget about ambience! Get your table and enjoy your meal.

We love a bargain!! You can't beat the price for good dim sum. For as long as it lasts, pay $3.88 per dish. We ordered five items from a menu of about 20 or so dim sum items on the front page of the fancy glossy color order form. See pic. *Chicken feet 5/5 ( steamed phoenix claw in black bean sauce) mildly spicy, piping hot, delicious. Order it. *Beef noodle roll 5/5 well made, meat tasty, kinda sweet, yummy. Order it!! *Baked bbq bun 3/5 was kinda hard on the glazed top and barely warm. *turnip cakes (panfried rafish patty) 5/5 good. Had bbq bits in it, which I liked, no dried shrimp, which I liked, but there was a mild dry shrimp flavor. **sticky lotus rice wrap. 5/5 Egg yolk inside, about the size of your palm, sticky rice stuffed with chunks of meat, including Chinese sausage. Loved it. Order it!! Crowded at noon, we were sat right away at a table for four. The waiters asked us politely if we could swap tables with a group that was too cramped at a table for two...we agreed so the server could accommodate the larger party. We were glad to do it, but I think he should have offered the tea for free. But it's fine. I overtired anyway. TIP-- pay in cash, or incur a 3.5 percent extra cost for using a credit card for a total under $30. There's a surcharge for takeout too...we got a half pound of bbq pork for $7 buck at the little takeout attacked to the dining room on the supermarket side of the building. *takeout of bbq pork.. Good flavor but kinda dry...and dark, mostly lean bbq pork. 3/5. This place is noisy at noon on a Tuesday; shares a parking lot wirh an Asian market, so parking lot is big and free...but an be challenging depending on when you arrive. Service is fast, easy to flag servers, easy to signal for the check, but they seem to be short staffed so don't expect check ins for extra napkins ohot water refills for your teapot. But they are easy to flag if you need anything. At least they don't pressure you to leave right away, since I had to wait for my change, it was a nice leisurely tea visit with mom. The change came in one's abd fives, yay! 5/5. Perfect for tipping generously, but not overly. A lot of oeople were doing takeout. The $3.88 per dish works there too. And after 3 pm, 2 items for that same price. What a bargain.

Came here with my family for a late lunch and unfortunately left very disappointed. Our fried pork came out cold, and the chow mein was not what we wanted. When we asked to order a different one, we were told the staff was eating and they couldn't make it. Our waiter was also rude and dismissive, often responding with "wait a minute" when we asked for something. Our bill was over $235.75, and for that price, we expected much better food and service. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing.

We flagged a server down and they got us a ticket for a number to wait. There's a bit of a wait, but also a steady flow of guests coming in and out. We ended up picking Yangzhou fried rice, Eggplant casserole with salted fish and minced chicken, and a meat combo of Bbq pork and steamed chicken. The food came out steaming hot, and the portions were incredibly generous. All the dishes were really flavourful and well cooked, reminded me of food I grew up eating in Hong Kong. There are a few Canto cafés around here, but this one is definitely one of our favorites. Dim sum is pretty easy to find, but authentic Cantonese cafés are much more of a rare find. The lower reviews are probably due to the service, but in my opinion, a truly authentic Cantonese restaurant should have questionable service because that's exactly what you get at the good places in Hong Kong. The philosophy in Hong Kong is basically "food over service." If they're being too nice, they're probably overcompensating for something haha. Getting either the hot or iced milk tea or lemon tea is a MUST. It's the traditional way to do it, and they even offer unlimited refills! Just be warned that you might not sleep that night because Hong Kong-style tea is no joke when it comes to caffeine. Pro tip: If you get the lemon tea, you have to crush the lemons into the tea to get the right flavor! My friends and I are regulars here. They're open late, and the ambiance is so fun, with tables decorated with mahjong tiles and neon lights that basically scream Asia. The food is top tier and, in my opinion, some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in the U.S. Our go-to orders are the tomato baked rice dishes, stir-fried vegetables, 3-cup dishes, and brisket curries. For something sweet, we always share the classic Cantonese French toast with peanut butter inside or one of the pineapple buns. Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic Canto café experience! :)

With so many Chinese restaurants in the area, I imagine the competition is pretty tough! Overall, we had a really good experience. The food tasted authentic, and I learned that the owner is originally from Foshan, Guangdong, which explains the traditional Cantonese flavors. We ordered several dishes: The half portion of Princess Chicken was delicious! The chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with that authentic Cantonese taste. The black pepper fish fillets were a big hit with the kids. The seasoning was well-balanced, not too peppery or greasy. The pea shoots were excellent! Fresh, tender, and cooked perfectly. Definitely one of my favorite dishes. The Mapo Tofu was rich, savory, and perfect with steamed rice. Another nice touch was the complimentary steamed rice and sweet dessert soup after the meal. Little extras like these really make a difference! Overall, a solid spot for authentic Chinese comfort food, with generous portions and good flavors.

I've been to Henry's Cuisine quite a few times now, and the food has always been consistently good!…read moreCame here with a group of friends, about eight of us total, and decided to order family style so everyone could share. We ordered around six dishes, and everything was pretty solid overall. We got the Mapo Tofu (non-spicy), which was still very flavorful despite not having the usual kick. We also ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork Chop, Snow Pea Tips, and Basil Clams, along with a big order of rice for the table. Everything tasted great, and it's definitely a good spot to come with a larger group so you can try a variety of dishes. Service was fast and friendly, especially considering how packed the restaurant was. One thing I found a little strange was that they told us we couldn't add anything to our order after we had already placed it because they were so busy. They also ran out of prawns, which was a little disappointing since we were really looking forward to ordering some. Despite the minor inconveniences, this spot continues to be one of my go to spots for a good Chinese family-style meal. The food is consistently delicious, service is efficient, and it's a great place to bring friends or family. Would definitely come back again, and hopefully they'll have prawns next time!

There is a caution note on the table that inform you the dishes are meticulously prepared, so be prepared to wait. They are NOT anymore meticulously prepared than any other decent Canto restaurant. The problem is they will not make your dish until another party orders the same dish so they can combine and cook for two parties instead of one. Order the popular dishes and you get them in a timely way. Order less popular ones and you wait. And, their service gets much better, if you order their $125 lobster dish.

I've passed by this spot plenty of times but never went to try it out because it's a very small spot, located inside a very busy plaza. Parking is very difficult since the plaza is very busy and the parking is shared with many other businesses. I heard many good reviews about this cafe so I was thrilled to try it out! I heard that they make all their items in-house and all items are made to order! Most of their items are $6.70-$7.70+ so definitely on the pricier side but the quality definitely makes up for the price! I got the Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai ($7.70) and it was stuffed with plenty of pork and shrimp. I enjoyed the pork wasn't too lean or fatty and it was packed with flavor without being too overly salty! The Shrimp Har Gow ($7.70) was amazing! The rice wrapper wasn't too thick or thin and was just right! It had so much shrimp and I was impressed by how much shrimp was given! It was definitely the best har gow I've ever had! It was so delicious and fresh! The Sticky Rice Wrap ($7.70) was pretty good. It had a good amount of sticky rice and a big piece of Chinese sausage, as well as salted egg yolk! I wished it had mushroom and a little more meat but overall, I really enjoyed how flavorful it was! I really enjoyed the items I ordered and am excited to someday stop by the restaurant and have a dine-in experience and try their other items!
