With the decline of the mega mall and the growth in big box stores and shopping areas that harken back to the days of a downtown, it stands to reason that smaller shopping centers might also be making a comeback. This JCPenny store is located in the Crossroads Shopping Center, on County Line Road between Menomonee Falls and Germantown, in the heart of a developing retail area. JCPenny is the major anchor here, A new Pick 'n' Save is the other. The center recently had a major facelift It is located within a circle of familiar big box stores. You'd have to know this building started out as a gray, cinder block discount store that resembled a prison. The building has been extensively remodeled, besides a major facelift, the entire interior has been redone. If someone dropped you in the middle of a department store and asked where you were, you might not be able to guess. You'd know here, because this store is uniquely JCPenny. There are attractive displays throughout the store and there are several store-within-a-store kiosks. There are several checkout registers and JCPenny does it right - there is one line for shoppers, and the first in line steps to the first available register. The store has a large parking lot that is easy to get to, just west of US 41-45, Turn left at the Culver's.

Generally speaking, a lot of the customers here are females, and kind of like Target it's become very trendy and middle-class over the years. Prices aren't cheap but you can get discounts on fancy type things and mid-price things and they offer a hell of a ton of discounts and rewards for those who shop regularly and religiously, and I guess the problem is that the prices to begin with aren't usually great, but they're also not the worst. I've had good experiences with them and with their customer service especially.

The Bad: I could choose between pickup at a store, scheduled today, Friday. I could opt for home delivery, but that would be next Monday, over the weekend, eight days total time. The bad? I ordered the piece on Sunday, the delivery was promised to the store in five days. Compare that to a similar order I placed at the same time, with a superstore in New York. It arrived at my home on Wednesday, only three days. Walmart's time frame was frustrating, but I suppose that's part of the good price. The Amazing: I walked into Walmart and walked up to a tall, orange tower that almost reaches the ceiling. (I happen to know its nickname, but since it's a copyrighted name, I'll just call it Fred.) Fred has a smoked glass cover that slightly obscures a monitor screen. There is no one around. As you approach Fred, er, the tower, the smoked glass panel opens up and the screen welcomes you to Walmart. If you were sent a QR Code to your phone that identifies your order, Fred will scan it. I didn't have a Qr code but did have a confirmation number. Fred popped up a keyboard and I typed in my order code. After Fred had my code, I could hear some machinery running and in seconds, a light came on behind another smoked glass door. Voila! There was my package! The smoked glass door popped open and my order slid forward for me to take it. Overall rating: Price: Five stars. Ease of ordering online: Five stars. Time to delivery: Three stars. The order was processed and shipped on September 17 with an anticipated delivery date of Spetember 25. On September 28 when the package had still not arrived, I contacted the shipping company to find out what was happening with the shipment. The company was very helpful and stated that the package was lost during shipping and suggested that I open an investigation to locate the package. When I explained that the item being shipped was for a vacation that I was planning they suggested that I contact the company that sent me the item to see if they could replace the shipment. so that I would have it for my vacation. When I contacted customer service for Kohls.com I got a run around. At first I could not get in touch with a live person, the automated system just kept going round and round. When I was finally able to talk with a live representative I was informed there was nothing they could do to assist me with my problem. When I asked to speak with a supervisor they put me on hold and then came back and told me that I was not going to get a different response from a supervisor. When I was finally able to get a supervisor on the line, I was basically informed that I was lying about the package being lost because the shipping company still had the package in transit. The customer service from this company is trash. I have purchased many items from Kohls. I am usually given an option to have an item shipped to my home or a store. I usually choose to have things sent to my local store. In the past there has never been an issue. Because of the way I was treated by the online customer support, I will NEVER purchase another item from this company.

They said they could not cancel the order because it was being processed even though the order had not left the facility yet. I was also informed that it would take up to 60 days for the investigation complete. Kohl's handling of customer problems and account information is seriously lacking. They do not protect their customer's information in a proper manner. They need to add two-factor authentication and requests for changing personal information should have a fail safe. I am extremely angry over the situation and will be closing my account with Koh's once this fiasco is over.
