Until, a couple of years ago, in a Holiday shopping haze, I wandered into a Big Lots in my previous hometown of Boise, Idaho (it was actually in nearby Meridian, Idaho...but close enough). I was hoping to score some reasonably priced Christmas wrap. On my way to their holiday section, I happened by their home section. I was in the market for some blackout curtains as my husband was working night shift at the time. I had found some at other department stores for $70 per panel, but came across nearly identical ones here for more like $20 per panel. Whaaaa?! Given I needed 4 panels, it was a no brainer. I then promptly forgot about Big Lots until recently when I needed new curtains for my new old house. After trying Crate & Barrel, The Pottery Barn, and Target--I remembered that curtain deal of Christmas past and made my way to Menomonee Falls to give Bit Lots a try. Yahtzee! I found the six panels I needed for $19 per panel. And, a fun and funky curtain rod for $15. And, a cute decorative tray for 7 bucks. Oh! And, a gorgeous scented candle in a decorative pot for a whopping 4 bucks. The deals are real, my friends. While not everything in the store is of great quality, if you're a savvy shopper (I'm not, but fortunately had one with me), there are deals on some amazing items to be found. Get to it!

Makes me chuckle every time I say it. Secondly, some of the alcohol specials are ridiculous... signs indicating this is the lowest price they can legally sell. That's a first I've ever seen of such a sign. Anyways, being in the great state of Wisconsin we decided to pick up a New Glarus variety pack (which we can't get in Illinois) and some PBR tall boys for a pretty good deal. As mentioned previously, there are some employees with attitude; some being downright rude. Anna in deli comes to mind. Recently stopped by to pick up broasted chicken. Anna told me it wasn't ready and to come back in 5 minutes. When I came back, she stared at me for a few seconds, turned, and walked away. She then proceeded to take care of another customer. I stood there for a while before another employee asked if I was being helped. I mentioned what had happened, and the girl simply rolled her eyes. I understand that everyone can have a bad day from time to time, but a week later, I stopped at the deli again for some coleslaw. While standing directly in front of her, she again looked past me like I wasn't there and took an order from a young guy standing behind me. Why this woman has some kind of issue with me personally, I have no idea but, her behavior is beyond insulting, rude, and passive-aggressive. How someone can be employed in customer service and act like this indicates a systemic problem with management and how their employees perform their responsibilities. Maybe comments like mine will rectify a significant problem within a decent store and franchise.

The floors are clear and uncluttered, there are plenty of staff members available to help, and most items are clearly marked with prices (with the exception of some of the lumber).
