I really want to support local vs a big chain.....but Hayat has been working my last nerve. They'll package your mess into daily pill packs and deliver for free. BUT you don't usually get a heads up on WHEN delivery is meaning you very well may miss them. Despite having a card on file, I can't tell you how many times the delivery person needs a co pay. If you're out of refills or they're out of stock, there's no heads up. Finally, scrips seem to get moved between locations. Sometimes you need a med urgently, call it in, get confirmation it's ready and arrive only to be told it's been sent to the central location and will be delivered in 2 days. The people are nice and try to help but it's just a different flavor of shitshow than I'd get at Walgreens. read more

They never have my refills ready, I always have to wait even when I called the refill in a week a head of time.

I went in today for my flu and covid shot and it didn't take long at all....I Love this pharmacy and the staff there...Shawn, Jess, and Anan they are so professional and the make you feel so warm and welcome especially when they know ur name when U come in the door without you saying who you are.... This is a brand new pharmacy in the Washington Heights/Highlands area. They did a great job remodeling the old space and transforming it into a modern, sleek albeit small-space neighborhood pharmacy. Hayat pharmacy also carries items you will find in other big box drug store retail locations like Walgreens, but think small, neighborhood store. I met with and talked to the store manager, Kamal, who is a very pleasant, serious minded guy that takes obvious pride in the store. I have filled a couple prescriptions here over the last year. This pharmacy is so awesome. They don't publicly shame me for being uninsured (yes, I work FT). Their prices for prescriptions are cheaper than anywhere else. I called around to check out pricing for a month supply and Walgreens was $385, CVS was $365, Sams Club (w a special discount through my business membership) was $100. Hayat was only $84. I just filled a script there this morning. I called first and spoke with the pharmacist to see if they had what I needed. They did. I walked into the store and was greeted by the manager. My prescription was filled within minutes, but he could not get the receipt to scan so I could use my flex spending card. He didn't get mad or frustrated, he worked for 15 minutes straight to fix the problem. There was an issue with the total amount. It was overcharging me $7. I told him not to worry about it. he actually gave me this expensive dry hand cream and a pill minder to offset the $7. That was very nice. No hassle with checking with a manager, very simple. I forgot to mention, they deliver for free. Be sure to utilize their free medication delivery service. They can deliver to your home or work. You can pay your co-pay on the spot if you have one. They usually come earlier than the time they quote. I was told delivery would be between 3 PM and 6 PM. The driver was here at 12:35 PM. I am not complaining. I am very grateful for the delivery service. Just be aware that they are usually early I highly recommend this pharmacy to anyone, especially those that have to pay cash for prescriptions. They honestly have the best prices on meds compared to any other local pharmacy. read more

Sometimes it's hard to love people. Sometimes it sucks to have to put on your boots, scrape two inches of ice off of your car, and drive through town looking for a specific type of medicine for your sick girlfriend. Especially when your girlfriend is sick ALL OF THE TIME due to her deficient (read : Vegetarian) diet and it's effects on her immune system. All that aside I found myself hitting up the Hayat Pharmacy on Vliet the other day in search of Cherry Nyquil, apparently the only flavor of medicine able to sooth her cough in a reasonable manner. It was not a good experience. It hurts me to say so, since I'm a firm believer in the little guy being better than the big guy and the guy down the street being better than the guy a thousand miles away. Walgreens is just down the street but I went to Hayat based on Yelp reviews (Aubrey I'm Looking At You!!) and the fact that it's only a few blocks from my new Washington Heights abode. I will say that the service is personal. I walked in and didn't see what I wanted. I was just about to walk out when the guy behind the counter stopped me and inquired about what I was looking for. I told him and he walked back to the aisle with me and made some inquiries. He even waited while I made a call to the girl to make sure I was looking for the right thing! That is pretty good service! Unfortunately, once we ascertained that I was indeed looking for what she wanted he told me that such a thing did not exist. He told me he had never heard of Cherry Nyquil. Granted, I had not either and so I took him at his word, purchased some regular Nyquil and went home only to be excoriated by the (angry) (sick) (impatient) girlfriend and told to go the (expletive) back out into the (expletive) cold and get her some (expletive) CHERRY (expletive) Nyquil. Chastened, I continued on to Walgreens on State St where I, lo-and-behold, found Cherry Nyquil. What this comes down to... Service was great. I don't know that I've ever had someone spend more time (It was almost ten minutes!) helping me find out some information for a five-dollar purchase. But the information he gave me was totally wrong. That has to count for something. I'll probably go here again, since they had some other things I wanted and I'd much rather support a local business than the Wal-Whatever down the hill. But the lack of knowledge is reflected in the lack of stars. read more

Great local pharmacy!! I stopped in just to see what they were about and found a friendly associate who gave me a tour of the store and introduced me to the pharmacist. This was a great introduction to my new neighborhood. I bought a few things that I didn't really need just to fill the pantry. Definitely a great way to keep things local and in the neighborhood. read more

I'm firmly in the support local first camp so I was pretty happy to see a small RX open in the 'hood. I thought I could transfer my one monthly prescription here. But alas, not so fast. The name brand (which IS different from the generic and what I needed) wasn't available but could be ordered IF i took a 3 - month supply and didn't use insurance. While they were finding this out they transferred my prescription from Walgreens but they didn't tell me they were going to do this. I rambled about the clean, neat store while waiting for a sign from either the pharmacy tech or the pharmacist that they had an answer. Took about 15 minutes, then I had to ask to have it transferred back to Walgreens. All fine and good until I got a call a month later saying my prescription was ready. Huh? Had to do more sleuthing to find out they somehow filled it but it was still with Walgreen's. It was an all around weird experience. (side note - the photo of the clown above the emergency exit door only made it more so.) I admit, they were pleasant and I would stop here in a pinch, but damn, I wanted it to be better so I didn't have to use Walgreens. The big chain also has more convenient hours, Hayat closed at 5 pm on weekdays, which would never work with my job. If you want a prescription delivered and have time during the day to do business AND chose generic OR don't have insurance, this would be a good fit. Give them a chance then. read more

the staff at the vliet location is great!!!! heba the pharmacist is awsome, she always has my prescriptions when i need them, she goes out of her way to make sure i get them when they are due, i have never had a pharmacy that delivers and gets them to me on time. this pharmacy is the best, so is heba!!! read more
