Like the neighborhood Ace Hardware stores that I used to depend on when I was younger. Helpful workers who don't run away from questions like at Menards or Home Depot, though the inventory is lower than the big box stores. Great deal on soil from compost, good deal on bulbs for Fall planting, and I got help to replace a toilet seat. Turns out there are only two common shapes for toilet seats, and replacing a broken one isn't hard at all. I did it without even a You-Tube video, but I did get a helpful Ace Hardware worker. People are writing bad reviews before the store has a chance to get established. i frequented the previous hardware store at this same location for 25 years and they were great, but the owner retired. What happened to this store? I have been going to Greg's for over 30 years. Went in on August 28th of this year and there was only one other person or two in the store. Needed help finding a particular size screw, employee who is about 19 years old and seem to be the only one there. I asked him if he could show me where they would have the item and he turned and said" I can't help you". I have the register I have the display to do and also I need to make a key and he walked away. Amazing! I go to the store because I look for a service level better than any big box store. Very disappointing and disheartening that now I won't even go there anymore. Sorry to see this happen and hope they will correct this so they don't lose any more customers. read more

I've never had such terrible customer service. One of the employees there, Gina, offered to mail something to me that I left at the store. Not only did she not mail it after I sent her money for the postage and extra money for going out of her way to send it, but she also texted me asking for more money for "cough medicine". I wanted to help someone in need, but after I bought her the medicine she still didn't send me what I left at the store and continued to be so rude and ungrateful that I hope she gets the karma that's coming to her. read more

Average Ace True Value hardware store. Kinda old and grungy with an older guy reading the bible behind the register. They have everything you need when you need it. I think of Ace stores as not quite your local yokel hardware store, but less corporate and more part of the neighborhood than a big box store, so I tend to shop here occasionally. read more

First let me say I am a big fan of using true values and Ace hardware stores. When ever I need an item where I would like to talk to an associate I usually do my business here. Unfortunately Greg's true value store does not fit the bill. Usually these types of stores are staffed by "handy" employee's , not highschool kids. First let me preface my review. I hate hardware stores. If I could go the rest of my life without ever stepping foot in a hardware store again that would be great. The source of my dislike for them probably stems from the fact that I don't know jack about these types of things and am one of the least handy people I know. With that being said, I clearly can't go to Home Depot or any of the big box retailers. I aimlessly wander their aisles in search of my items or an employee. My Home Depot etc experience usually ends with me being pissed and leaving before I find anything. So that's why I like place like a True Value. I walk in and am immediately greeted. I'm done. I've given this store 15 years to keep my business, and after a multitude of mediocre-to-ok experiences with the store and the staff, this was the final straw. We took two snow blowers in for estimates on tune ups/maintenance work. When we dropped them off, the woman who took them in did not mention anything about a fee. After two weeks and a phone call, someone finally looked at them and the estimate for both was not much less than a brand new, larger snow blower. We elected to not have the work done as a result, and said we'd pick them up. We picked them up on a Sunday. Again, there was no mention of a charge from the young man who helped us. Five days later, on Friday, someone from the store called and left a message that he didn't know whether we'd picked them up, but that there was a charge we needed to pay. EXCUSE ME? We we were never told of a charge ahead time, we never signed anything agreeing to pay such a charge, and now five days after we pick up our equipment, you ask us for money? After a bit of phone tag, my husband spoke with the man from service on Monday and explained that we had not been made aware of the charge up front, and as a result, we did not plan on paying it. The man stated he would need to speak with the owner. The owner called back this morning (Tuesday) and was extremely rude to my husband, talking over him, then claimed that he couldn't be sure all of his people were properly trained. He also tried to guilt my husband into paying because he's "a small business owner", and stated that we should have "assumed" that there would be an estimate charge. So, Greg of Greg's True Value, I hope your rude phone call was worth the lost customer(s), instead of taking it upon yourself to shore up your internal processes and get your people trained to do things properly. TL;DR: Beware of having equipment serviced here, because you should just "assume" things about the charges. read more

Is Greg's True Value the cheapest store in the area...no. Will they take the extra time to tell you want you need vs selling you whats makes them the most money, yes. Greg's is a convenience for me and worth the few extra dollars I might spend over the years vs shopping at HD 100% of the time. Went there the other day to talk about lawn mowers and got a full education on whats what and how to make an educated decision. They have always been helpful to me and therefor I shop there regularly. read more

Very happy with the service. That's a very busy store but they seem to help everyone in a timely fashion. Had my snow blower fixed that I bought from them about 12 years ago and it still works great. Don't hesitate to ask for help and it's unfortunate some of less than stellar reviews but I've never been disappointed. read more

I walked into the store at 4:45pm to look at drain cleaners and deciding which to purchase when the owner Greg walked past the aisle shouting abruptly "WE'RE CLOSED WE'RE CLOSED!" and then approached me yelling "I don't even know how you got in here the doors are locked!" He would not allowed me to make my purchase. Well Greg--had any associate approached me and asked if I needed assistance or if someone swept the store before closing you wouldn't be so clueless that I was already in the store before you locked the doors. This is a local shop for locals, but have a larger variety of items than one would expect for anyone who cares to stop in to take a peek. I love the fact that they do repairs and sell refurbished lawn mowers and snowblower too. They have always been extremely helpful. Especially the woman at the check out counter. There were two instances she saved me from having to travel someplace else by asking if I had found what I was looking for. I hadn't, and she found it. Couldn't be better than that. Had the same experience on Black Friday 11-23-12. The local True Value ad had a 8 piece Gear Wrench set for $9.99 starting on Friday morning. Greg's True Value opens at 7 am, got there at 7:30 am and the store didn't have any. An employee told me that management decided to start the sale on the previous Monday morning so they were out of the sets by Friday when the sale started. They gave me a rain check and said about 200 sets were coming into the warehouse. I received a voice mail today to tell me that the item was no longer available. Went to the store to complain and was told that the owner would not sell at the sale price anymore. So I told them they just lost another customer. Don't shop this store read more

Best hardware store ever. Prices like the big box stores but with service and advice like the old-fashioned hardware stores. I literally drive past two other hardware stores to get to Greg's. I love reading reviews for different businesses. you can really tell a lot about a store by peoples reviews. For some reason most reviews are by the rudest customers or people that only have negative things to say about anything. Some are actually helpful but some are pretty useless. Most people forget that these neighborhood stores are where most "kids" have their 1st job. Inexperience is almost guaranteed. I certainly didn't know everything in a hardware store when I was 16 either. Also these stores may not be competitive in pricing compared to some huge retail chain but they have parts you will never be able to find in those big stores. Don't complain about having to pay another 12 cents for a quart of oil or because the special Mason jars you found cost another dollar. If it's weighing on you that much then maybe you're not the type of person that needs to go to a neighborhood convenience store. I've been going to this particular hardware store for over 20 years. It's one of the few where the owner is actually there on a regular basis and will actually negotiate his "higher prices" with the people that never understood how small businesses work. In the event that one of the younger employees doesn't understand what a customer is looking for they have always been able to ask one of the managers who usually drops everything they are working on to help out. There may be times that the few employees on the floor are too busy to stop the world for an impatient customer but they will get to you eventually. I certainly wouldn't rush to help anyone with a scowl on their face sighing every 10 seconds to get attention. If you feel you aren't getting the attention you feel you deserve then leave. Just don't rush home to write a crappy review because you had to wait 30 seconds and the world didn't stop for you. I have zero complaints about this store. After all it is run by humans. It is a place where the owner cares about his customers and employees. They sell everything from snow blowers & lawn mowers down to the 1/4-20 reverse thread nuts. Everything from lawns & gardening to the plastic hinge on your cooler that just broke. If you have a lamp you've had in your family for generations and you're afraid to plug it in, let these guys fix it. Broken screens and windows too. Even the replacement tip for your favorite fishing rod. Next time you have a pleasant experience in a store or especially a small business please write a review. Give it the attention it deserves. Took in 2 small screens (4'x2' and 2'x2') to get replaced on a Thursday and was told that they would be done by that coming Monday or Tuesday at the latest. No call ever came so I decided I would just stop by and ask a full week later. Sure enough they were done. Great, right? Nope. I get to the register only to be told that it would be $40.22!!! Now I'm a handy guy and can do things myself but with personal matters taking up my time I thought I would go local and have it done for me. That was a mistake. Then, while I write this I get a phone call from them saying that they were going to call me today. Sure, ok. I explained my frustrations and they offered to give me $4.00 back. I took the $4.00 but really. Parts alone would have cost me maybe $10 and I could have done this myself. Guess I will be doing that from now on. Lesson learned. read more

Best nuts, bolts and screws, odd stuff you would never find hardware store within 20 miles. The back wall(40 feet)of the store is lined with assortments of well indexed small hardware bins that are you may need for fix it projects. Been my got to place for 17 years. You need to pick and choose the power tools, its tough to compete with home depot or menards.
