DO NOT RECOMMEND this hardware store…read more Refused to provide my return of an item (which was $7) because I mistakenly walked into the store with my previously purchased item and walked pasted their waist level sign saying "no returns beyond this point". This was my 2nd time in the store and it will be my final. I have never had someone accuse me of stealing, especially with no reason to do so. It was an honest mistake. End all be all, Greg (the floor manager) clearly hates women, not to mention I'm 8 months pregnant - he confiscated my item (because he couldn't confirm that I didn't take it off the shelf - even though I didn't go near that isle) and refused to refund my $7. He claims because it was in a bag he could not confirm that I didn't take the item that day and "his count was off". Pretty much I walked in and was robbed myself. On this trip I was looking for specific sanding drums for a Rigid benchtop sander. They had exactly what I was looking for, and the price was reasonable, which you can't say about everything there. This store had a wide variety of makes and models to choose from. Unfortunately, the salespeople helping us didn't seem to know much about the different machines and weren't able to offer much guidance on the features, strengths, or differences between them. That made it difficult to narrow down the choices. We left the store with a favorite in mind, but we weren't confident enough to make a purchase. I wish we had connected with someone who could have helped us think more critically about the options and determine which machine was the best fit for our needs. FYI: We ultimately purchased a machine somewhere else, and it ended up being a very different model than the one we were considering here.

(I used to watch Norm Abrahm build things on New Yankee Workshop and he made it look so easy, of course, he also had a shop full of stuff that most woodworkers don't have unless their name is Warren Buffet. I'd still like to try building the little sailboat he built one year, but I digress.) If I were to try to build a Norm Abrahm project, this is where I'd be for tools. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly about it. (As opposed to the other place where I felt like I was being talked down to.) I was looking for a specialty product, that they didn't have, but they did have a suggestion for a viable alternative that I'll consider. As long as I was there, I wandered the aisles and I was impressed with the wide selection of tools and accessories. I drooled over tools I wish I had a use for and saw things I didn't even know were made. Brand name power tools as well as more economically priced equipment for the casual user. On the top end, they have a CNC router table (if you have to ask, you'll never use it, anyway) for an amazingly low price of $6,000.00 although the router is not included. I have no use for it but I do marvel at the technology. Really, if I were a serious woodworker, this would be my go-to place for tools, exotic woods, accessories, and advice. It's inconveniently located in a strip shopping center on the southwest corner of Greenfield Avenue and Sunny Slope, on the New Berlin side of Greenfield, but worth the effort to get there.

I was at Home Depot earlier in the day and spent 10 minutes looking at the two options. One had that comfortable knob on top but only uses a single sided blade. The other didn't have the knob, but did use a 4-sided blade. So I went to Sherwin-Williams. They had the one with the cool knob, plus a 4-sided blade. And cheaper than HD. About the paint. I asked the sales person where the primer is, and he showed me. Then he said, "but this still will be on sale in 5 days... 40% off". So... no paint for me on that trip! I love tips like that.
