I met with the Davey's rep in person this June to discuss mainly digging up a bush that was encroaching on my neighbors property and bending their fence, the employee Angus told me that they would have to remove the fence to dig it up, since it was not my fence but my neighbor's and I was on a bit of time crunch he suggested another option, cutting it down to a stub and then putting herbicide on it which he said would not allow it to grow back. We also discussed the overgrowth of a few other smaller foliage along the fence and a branch from a tree that was leaning on the roof. In all it cost $495, which may or may not seem like a lot to others but I was also paying for another lawn service, junk haul and other expenses that are involved with moving. My main goal was to make sure the encroaching bush did not come back. By July the bush was again in full bloom. I tried to get in touch with Angus but was told he had left the company. I spoke with Kimberly at Davey's who explained the situation and agreed they probably forgot to put the herbicide in the bush after cutting it. I was promised that someone would come out and cut it down again and put the poison in. If you have every sold a house, which I have not it takes up all your time, so I did not contact them again as my attentions were elsewhere and I was promised someone would come to the house and get the job done. No one ever called or came out to the property. I did sell the house this month, but I feel very much ripped off by this company since essentially what they were hired to do did not get done. And clearly they did not care enough to get it done. The other trimming and cutting they did along the fence was something my other lawn person would have done for much less money. So this is just a cautionary tale to make sure if you choose to hire them you will need to keep a close eye and make sure they do exactly what they are supposed to do, which in my opinion, should not fall on the customer. Davey's should have a company standard of work ethics they abide by and the customer should not be put in a position to hold them accountable to this standard, but should do their part which is to pay them for the agreed upon work! Which I did for a job that was never done!
