Delicious rack of ribs, taters, and plantains
    Kate P.

Its been to long since we were last here so we stopped in again. I love the food here! We walked in and were greeted immediately and given a menu. Once you've looked it over you ring the bell and place your order. It isn't a long wait and you're eating delicious bbq! I love the decor here as its very Hawaii. They have books and games too! I just wish they'd play Hawaiian music or surf songs lol. The country music just throws things off. Highly recommend. If anything its gotten better! The plantains are delicious and i love the sauces!

6 beers on tap. Plus more in the case for bottle and cans. Great atmosphere. Millitary theme in men's room. Owner is an army veteran. I got spicy sausage smashed red bliss potatoes, and slaw. Very personable owner.

    The Slaw-Py Pulled Pork Sammy

Traveling through New Hampshire , we found this place just off of the highway. I ordered the bay of pigs tacos ($16 each) and my wife ordered The Slaw-Py Pulled Pork Sammy ($18 each) and two Poland spring bottled waters ($3 each). The Slaw-Py Pulled Pork Sammy was very good and the smash potatoes were quite tasty. We both enjoy things with a kick, and the sandwich delivered! Great blend of flavors. The tacos were a slight disappointment for two reasons. The first being that the tomatoes were very wet which caused the tacos to be super soggy. I really like that crisp tortilla, and they appeared that they were grilled to perfection prior to the tomato's being added. Additionally the pork was a bit on the dry side. I typically like a moist pulled pork, and perhaps I just got a drier section of the pan? I'd definitely stop back again, but I'd probably grab something different vs. the tacos again. Also on a side note, and yes I know this happens everywhere, but, I am always a bit surprised when a bottled water exceeds 1.50. Shame on me for not asking the cost prior, but the drinks were not marked. I assumed that a bottled water would be a reasonable cost, but I personally don't think that is reasonable. I would have rated this a three star based on the tacos and the water prices, but the staff was super friendly, and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

If you live around the area or maybe in town for leaf peeping, this place is a nice pit stop for a great meal with fantastic service. The service was friendly and accommodating as soon as we walked through the doors. We had the pulled pork with grilled veg and side salad -- plus the bumba sauce! And oh my goodness, it really hit the spot. The peanut sauce was creamy and paired perfectly with the pork. The veg was fresh and the pork was flavorful. My son had the spamwich and loved every bite. It was savory and filling, with a touch of sweetness. They truly bring the Aloha Spirit and sunshine to New England. Highly recommend.

This place is the best of both worlds Hawaiian and BBQ. The workers here were cool people, laid back and great all around. They cooked the food super fast! The flavors oh man were out of this world. You can taste the smokiness in almost everything. They have sauces for days which I need to try them all. The place was super clean and had decor everywhere making you feel like you been to Hawaii.

Tacos and burger were excellent!!! Service was also awesome, love the atmosphere. Great vibes and relaxing space.

Big Kahunas Smokehouse opened recently next door to Shooter's Outpost (Husband Day Care Center) along Hooksett Road (US 3/NH 28). This is their second location to their first eatery, which is Big Kahunas Cafe & Grill in Merrimack. This place is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Big Kahunas Smokehouse is not your typical eatery, which serves up a variety of choices with some Caribbean, Hawaiian and South Pacific flare including smokehouse BBQ entrees, burgers, bowls, sammies, tokos (tacos), hot dogs, smashers, and vegan choices too! The BBQ sauces are homemade including Spicy Caribbean, Maui (no heat), Bali Sweet Soy, Bumbu Peanut Sauce. They also serve breakfast too, but at the time of this review, they open at 10 AM. The prices are moderate, most entrees in the $12-$20 range, slighlty lower than typical prices at Hawaii restaurants (my sister is in charge of 2 restaurants on Oahu and Maui). They also offer draft and bottled/can beer here including 603, Bud Light, Sam Adams, Blue Moon, Pacifico, and Kona Big Wave on draft, bottled cooler drinks, and Kona coffee. The place is order at the counter and there is indoor seating with ample tables, colorful painted walls, decorations, pictures, and a collection of used books to read. There is also outside covered seating along the front and side of the restaurant on the wooden deck. I stopped by recently for dinner takeout since I wanted some BBQ. I ordered Lechon Kawali Pork Belly ($15 plus tax) with 2 sides - Smashers and Cole Slaw. My ordered was packed and ready to go in about 10 minutes. However, when I got home to eat, they gave me Caribbean Pulled Pork instead of the Lechon Kawali Pork Belly I ordered which was the same price at $15. The Pulled Pork was my second choice, which was very tender with mostly lean meat and minimal fat covered with Spicy Caribbean BBQ sauce with a smoky flavor and not too spicy. The smashers (roasted seasoned potatoes) were very good, with a firm texture. The cole slaw (crunchy red cabbage & carrots) had a slightly bitter flavor, which was expected. Other than receiving Pulled Pork instead of the Pork Belly ordered, the food I had was still pretty good. Maybe they ran out since my order receipt was correct. I will try this place again in the future.

    Hawaii Five-oh with smashers.

Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39

THe truck offered BBQ such a pulled pork, brisket, ribs as well as sides. You can get a burrito, taco, or plate. We opted for burritos. I had a brisket burrito which was packed full of dirty rice, lettuce, cheese, tomato, smoked brisket. It was huge but not well wrapped as it fell part after one bite. Everything tasted fresh but it lacked smoky flavor and heat. I wanted more brisket so next time I plan on getting a plate. Servce was very friendly. No picnic tables but we found a wooden deck out behind the truck to sit on and eat. THe truck was parked at the Farmers Wife @ 20 Main St. Not sure if they go to other locations. see my pics for menu and hours.

I only give this review a 2 because I save the 1's for places that I think have no heart or passion…read morefor what they do and treat their customers like crap. I believe this food truck does enjoy people and believes they are doing a good job. As a BBQ explorer I was kind of upset to see that they had no combo options. Apparently when they did do combo deals, people complained about the portion of the meats? I mean ... the price should be fair and the portion should be fair, simple as that, why stop it all together. I don't know what the prices were for what combo meal but I paid $14 for 1/4 rack and 1 small side ... I'm sorry, that is Awful! Compared to the collection of New England BBQ Joints I've been to, $14 for like 3-4 ribs and a small side of rice is terrible. Also $12 for a Brisket Sandwich with 1 small side? The only sides to choose from were Beans, Coleslaw, or Dirty Rice ... and Rice isn't even "Dirty". Anyways. Ribs were thin, hard to cut into and not precut, a lot of red rub on it. And it fell off the bone way to easy, I couldn't eat it off the bone. Pork flavor was kinda there but not really, Rub flavor was like a sweet apple style, all the bones were cracked and broken. The price is already bad even if these were nice big juicy ribs. Dirty Rice was ... weird in sort of a good way? I think it was Basmati rice with little pieces of juicy topical pork with a hint of a zesty spice. It's not what I would ever call "Dirty Rice" with the ground meat, yellow rice, nice south west spices and peppers and stuff. I'd change the name to tropical pork rice or something. Beans had a good apple like smell to them. Pork and onions and some peppers. Onions were still crunchy so they weren't sitting in the pot for too long, I guess that can be a preference thing but every baked bean dish I have ever had with onion has Never been crunchy like they just threw it in the pot a minute ago. And most recipes I've seen Start with the onions before anything else so I don't know what's going on here. Pork was a little bit stringy for my taste, meaning it became just string, not pulled pieces. Flavor was typical though. Wanted to try the Brisket too but I didn't want to pay the Brisket meal price. So I had to get the sandwich instead which was still $12. Chopped brisket now because it was a sandwich. And it tasted like pork ... I've had good and bad brisket and everything in between, I've never had brisket taste more like pork than beef. Had a weird mustardy peppercorn aftertaste to it too, just made it taste even more like pork. Very rubbery, lot of pepper rub flavor, honestly disappointing. They have 2 sauces. Red and White. Red sauce they called "Tennessee" which in my experience usually means more heat (not all the time) and description said a "Light vinegar base" which is perfectly fine. But this was like a hot vinegar juice. And White was obviously Alabama style. This was probably the closest to what I imagine real Alabama White sauce is. Kind of like a tartar sauce with a very mild horseradish note to it, almost looks like a chipotle mayo but it's not. But unfortunately that was the only part of the meal I enjoyed, a little dab of white sauce.
