My family has been coming here forever. Literally as far back as I can remember going to Big Jim's was a tradition for us. This is my constant donut shop. Sure I'll go try others but this is my tried and true. The donuts: Super fresh and reliable. My favorites are the glaze twist, apple fritters and the donut holes but really and donut there is so good. Oh, and their breakfast sandwiches are AMAZING. I don't know what it is that makes them so good but they're probably my favorite quick breakfast. You can get a combo (A sandwich, a coffee and a donut) for $6 which is great! I always add at least 3 dozen donut holes to whatever I get because those little suckers are addicting, I can eat about 10 just standing by the bag. The coffee: SO GOOD The coffee isn't too strong or weak, it's a perfect medium and I love that they offer coffeemate Hazelnut and French Vanilla along with half and half or regular whole milk. Now that's a lot of creamer options! I always stick with sugar and hazelnut. They use to be 24/7 which it still says on Yelp and google but that's not true. I found out the hard way when I went at 4am and it was closed :( but still, if you go before work at 7:30am like I do, you'll find all the donuts are fresh. read more

I surprised my sister with donuts for breakfast. She really loved her choice (a square traditional donut topped and filled with chocolate glaze and chocolate chips). She said the donut was fluffy and delicious. Not only were there plenty of donuts to choose from at 8 am on a weekday morning but also the staff was very welcoming. The guy behind the counter greeted us with a smile and helped us right away. My only complaint is about the parking. This little plaza has 5-6 different shops and only 2-3 "reserved" parking spots per joint. What if 20 people show up all for Big Jim's Donuts? Love the fact that they are open really early at 5am. They have a big variety of different foods from donuts, apple fritters and a wide variety of croissants sandwiches. The donuts are a good price they only charged me 80¢ for a glazed donut. My main compliant is that they didn't have any lattes or coffee like advertised because they didn't have hot water. I went to Big Jim's on the recommendation of my co workers. I didn't think a breakfast sandwich would be any good at a Donut shop until I had Big Jim's. I ordered number one. No meet, Extra cheese, and Jalapeños. It was the best Croissant sandwich I had. I liked the spicy along with the cheesy. I also enjoy that crustiness of the croissant. i cant believe you cant get donuts 24 hrs a day! who wouldnt need to go on a late night donut run? it happens all the time. so glendale got smart and kept fatty donut shops open late instead of those fatty fast food places. but go late and its like playing minesweeper... you have to pick out all the good ones, and occasionally you pick the one that explodes (or rather is rock hard because its been sitting there all day.) its also possible to get this location confused with another open-late donut shop on colorado, which happens all the time. but if you dont feel like paying for milk to go with your donuts, you can just pop over to the 7 eleven next door. ahhhh, convenience. read more

Stopped in today around 7:00 am, a lot of choices and the racks were full. All of the donuts I picked tasted fresh, nothing worse than a stale donut. Super friendly, threw in a free donut just to be nice. The donuts are more on the light/fluffy side which I love. There are quite a lot of donut shops or places to get doughnuts in Glendale. But ill be honest, this is the best of all. I've been coming here since I was a little kid attending the elementary school across the street. Even till today if I eat a doughnut, their doughnuts are the benchmark that it must beat.... When searching for this place, make sure you are at 1141 NOT 1411 E. Broadway. You'll know you are in the right place when you find yourself at the northwest corner of Broadway and Chevy Chase. There's also a convenience store in the same strip mall and what probably used to be a Fotomat in the parking lot. Anyway, I go to all the trouble making sure you are at the right place because this place is THAT GOOD when you need a donut. If you work at Glendale Adventist Medical Center and need a donut fix, wait until 5:30am to go there, right when they are pulling the donuts out of...whatever they make donuts in...the fryer? After reading such wonderful reviews, I was a little let down. I may have gotten my hopes up and set the expectations too high. The donuts were not bad at all, but they were very average. I'd skip the red velvet donut. It didn't seem to have much flavor at all. The plain donut with chocolate icing was very average. The cinnamon roll was wonderful and I would get it again. Big Jim's was introduced to me by a close friend who used to go to this place daily during his childhood. I went yesterday and today for breakfast, and it was delicious yet affordable. Donut holes are only $0.10! Large crescents with ham and cheese are $3.25. Donuts range from $0.80-1.30. I inquired what time they make their donuts, and they bake from 12am to 2am every morning.
