This is a true gem in La Crescenta. The owners are so incredibly nice, and the lady is the sweetest person. Donuts are always delicious and fluffy. Best donut shop in this area and we'll continue to come back again and again! Glad that we found the best, and will continue to try the deliciousness. A small mom and pop donut shop tucked away in a plaza along Foothill in La Crescenta/Tujunga. Had some business to take care of nearby and wanted a quick bite so thought Id stop by. If you care a lot about service, this shop is a 5/5. As I approached the store I was met by a huge smile from the owner. Upon entering she was amazing and super kind. I ordered a Ham & Cheese croissant along with a donut + coffee! She even went out of her way to make me a fresh pot of coffee. Everything I ordered tasted great and fresh. I came around 7:15am on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. It was my first time stepping into Donut Star. Bought a dozen donuts and a bagel with cream cheese and found they threw in a few extra glazed donut holes. The donuts are great - classic and not greasy but the warmth of the couple there is what I'll be coming back for! They make an effort to get to know their customers, which goes a long way especially these days. I kept reading about the incredible apple fritters at Donut Star. So, this morning, I tried one for myself. I have eaten plenty of donuts in my lifetime, even worked at a donut shop and featured one in one of my books. Without a doubt, Donut Star's apple fritter is THE BEST I have eaten. Absolutely delicious crunchy AND soft and filled with bits of real apple. Plus it's GIGANTIC! Got a few other treats...looking forward to those! My BF and I came across this donut shop this past Friday as we were on our way to SF. The couple that helped us were just so sweet. I'm pretty sure they were the owners and they really made my day. We had ham and cheese croissants with jalapeños and some of their coffee and both were so delicious! The croissants were perfect, crispy from the outside and soft and warm from the inside and their coffee was just perfect! As we were heading out a customer was taking a dozen of their mixed donuts and I mentioned to the owners they looked really good. The sweet male owner then told me to wait and handed me some of their freshly made donut holes. How sweet was that! Those donut holes were so delicious as well! I highly recommend this place, we would definitely come here again. These sweet owners truly deserve all the clientele in the world. read more

Just went here for the first time today. Ordered ham, cheese, and jalapenos croissants for my husband and me, and donuts for my son. The owners are very friendly, and the croissants were absolutely delicious - and HUGE! My son is still asleep so i don't have his review of the donuts yet but I'm sure they'll be fantastic. I went to donut star before I went to a school potluck to get a dozen donuts for the kids. After picking my 12 donuts, I realized that the place was cash only today. I was in a hurry to pick up the kids to go to the potluck so the lady told me that I can take the box of donuts and come back to pay later. I felt really bad but since the donuts were already packed, I decided to take the donuts. I went back the next day of course to pay and buy some croissants. I've been coming to this amazing donut shop for the last year and its become my favorites donut place in los angeles. I normally drive towards burbank for my donuts but found this when I was pregnant and craving a crunchy cinnamon roll donut. Hands down the best cinnamon roll donut I have found. This was the first place I took my daughter after I had her at 4 days old because I needed my donut. And for her 6 month birthday photos I decided to pay tribute to my craving while I was pregnant and do a donut theme. The owners of the shop are amazing and went above and beyond for me last week. I went in looking for 6 pink sprinkle donuts, but they were completely out. They were busy but they turned around and offered to make me 6 fresh donuts.
