They were very dry and had about 1/2 teaspoon of bbq sauce on them. It tasted like they carved a dry chicken - no seasoning, no bbq flavor and added less than 1/2 teaspoon of sweet baby rays bbq sauce. We love to hit Big Hoffas After going to Urban Vines for some great wine! They have a wide selection of bbq meats and sides to choose from! My daughter loves the smoked beans and mac and cheese. My son gets the pulled bbq chicken sandwiches. The show stopper are the Colossal milkshakes and the separate room! You can also get single scoop ice cream as well, but if you're there go ahead and try one of the milkshakes! I lived in Texas for a while and to me this is the best BBQ I have had in Indiana; the ribs, brisket, pork, mac n cheese, all of it is so delicious! The restaurant is very large inside so you can usually find a table inside or outside, but it does get very busy on the weekends, rightfully so. I have been wanting to try Big Hoffa's for months (ok, years). It was close to a basketball tournament and the first time we didn't have to quickly venture to another venue. I couldn't believe how big the building was and the parking lot was PACKED! We walked in and reviewed the menu. Holy overwhelmed. I went with the simple BBQ pork, habanero slaw and baked beans. Others tried the ribs, macaroni and fries. Everything comes out on a tray. The barbeque was AMAZING and the baked beans were full of flavor. The fries looked delicious but nobody could tell me if they were gluten free so I opted out. My dad said the ribs were the best he'd ever had and he dotes himself on being a rib connoisseur. They also have an ice cream shop connected. It's decorated so cute and full of color. They were insanely busy making specialty shakes. Our crew opted for just old fashioned cones. I wish I had my camera on me during our visit. I will certainly be back to try some of their specialty sandwiches and do more research on their fries. read more

Like I've said before, I don't like writing reviews on 1 experience but here I go again. Why read my review? I have traveled to Memphis, St. Louis, K.C., Texas and the Carolinas and ate bbq at each location. I also own a vertical smoker and usually smoke my own meat. We got carryout so this is review of the food only. We ordered the Big Hoffa combo meal. A rack of ribs and pound of chicken, in our case, with a side of coleslaw and potato salad. I am very thankful that this restaurant has a separate carryout area. I purposely took a sample of the short end of the rib. If a rib will be overcooked, it will be the ends. The end of the rib was overcooked and dry. The middle ribs were better. They had a decent smoke ring but I didn't taste much rub. The pound of meat we got was chicken. It wasn't pulled at all and had NO smoke flavor. It was just chunks of chicken. It was moist and seasoned well but could have been cooked in a slow cooker. Sides are important to me. The coleslaw was crispy but add seasoning...ground celery seed (or celery salt) plus salt. The potato salad was standard and could have come from any grocery store. The sauce we received was decent. We didn't get a choice of the sauce. I'm not sure if I'll go back. read more

Really enjoyed eating here. This is a pirate themed BBQ place in Westfield. You order at the counter and then they call your number when your food is ready to go grab. Something we loved is that the food is so affordable and portions are generous. The pulled pork was great quality with delicious seasoning on it. The beef brisket was fairly fatty - which is not our preference but I know some people like it that way. There are two BBQ sauces to choose from, regular and spicy. Had heard really great things about Big Hoffa finally got the chance to try them. I will start by saying I'm not a fan of BBQ but I was with other people that are and one other person was with us just for the ice cream. This is one review where a half star would be nice. 3 seems low and 4 is too high. Ok walk in and head straight down the wall and then turn left and your are facing multiple windows. I can see this being confusing if busy. They weren't at all busy 3pm on a Thursday. First window you order and pay for your meal. Second window you pick up beer and wine. Third window is order pick up and they give you a number. Numbers aren't called in order ( I saw the sign stating this ). Fourth window is for call ahead orders. Right after the 4th window is an area with drinks, forks, lids, straws, ketchup and BBQ sauce. I got buffalo ranch chicken with fries and mac n cheese and a sasafrass tea. The buffalo chicken was good. The bun was super soft which typically would be good but it got soggy really fast. I left the bun and just ate the chicken. Fries were great crispy seasoned fries. Mac N Cheese was horrible over cooked cafeteria kind of Mac N Cheese and no love was used in the making of it. The sasafrass tea was weak in flavor and super sweet. I grew up drinking sasafrass tea actually boiling the root and making your own. Later I thinned it down with unsweet tea. Friends got Bbq chicken sandwich and fries and mac n cheese . They did the same as I did and ditched the bread. They also said the mac n cheese was really horrible. Ice cream: I got a scoop of chocolate. FYI one scoop is actually two. Chocolate ice cream was basic decent chocolate. Friend got Caramel with pretzel pieces in it. That was really good. Friends son got Carribean Cay shake it was not 16$ worthy. It was a lime shake with a piece of Key Lime Pie on top with two vanilla wafer cookies and the cup had white chocolate and chocolate sprinkles on the outside. We all tried the shake. We all said it was just nasty. Super lime flavor that came across very fake and lingered on the tongue. He said the pie itself was good. 90% of the shake was thrown away. I got my husband some food togo since he was at work while we were there and he likes BBQ. I really wished they had a sample dinner of a little chicken , pork and beef but they don't. I ended up getting him a half pound of pork and half pound of chicken with no sides. He said taste was comparable to City Bbq. He said the bbq sauce was diffrent. Not very sweet or smoky. We all said the food was ok but probably not worth coming back for. Loved the open interior and the murals. read more

Went here because Ben's Shack was done for the day. Got the ribs and brisket at Big Hoffas. I'm not a fan of chopped up brisket especially when ordered a la carte, I prefer it sliced in strips. In a sandwich that is acceptable. The bark and the marbled parts were delicious. However as you eat the leaner meat it's a bit bland and appears the smoke hadn't gone through. i needed to use a lot of bbq sauce for those parts. Let's move onto the ribs. They were cooked to where it falls clean off the bone as you cut into them. The BIG issue I had was the rack of ribs I got had the membrane still intact and that part grosses me out. Not sure but removing the membrane helps smoke and dry rub penetrate through. Bark was good but still a bit bland. Ambience is pretty cool if you dine in. Great customer service!! read more

I recently visited Big Hoffa's for the first time in a few years and the interior is so much improved! It feels fresh and clean while still keeping that quirky vibe they are known for! The ambiance is fitting as BBQ joint is housed in what looks like a giant barn. This is a self serve order at the counter and you pick up your ready of goodies at the pick up counter when they call your number. The ordering process is easy and i went with the 1/2lb brisket with fries, habanero cole slaw and ranch on the side. The meat was overall tender minus the leaner parts that didn't have a ton of flavor. Good thing there are 3 kinds of bbq sauce you can get because this was needed. Adding the habanero cole slaw on the rolls with brisket was pretty tasty. I was expecting the cole slaw to pack more of a punch but it was kind of bland - llacked salt and acidity. Ended up mixing it with the bbq sauce to eat. The fries were solid and the homemade ranch was a nice dip to go with it. Looking for a change of pace so we we decided to head to Westfield for what I was told was the best bbq in the area. I was not disappointed, the set up is simple yet efficient line was to the door and we were ordered and seated in 6 minutes. I had the Hoffinator(sp) delicious, piled high with pulled pork Mac n cheese French fries and baked beans, very good! Also had a sausage link, perfectly cooked and the taste was magnificent. We have been here several times and photos just do not do the food justice. I continue to get the buccaneer but my husband has tried several items on their menu and it is hands down the best barbecue we have tried around here. The service is always great, you go up to order and then they have a pick up window. I'm not sure what the theme inside is but it reminds me of the swamps in Louisiana with the alligators on the wall and the lights. I just dined in at big Hoffa Love the ambiance and variety of what you can order I decided on the plate where you can get a meat and two sides 1/4 or 1/2 and I chose the 1/2 plate I thought it had a choice between chicken or pork and lady only gsvd me an option for pork . I got the Mac which was a small portion but delicious and fries and they included two garlic butter rolls which someone could easily make two sliders enough to bring home I asked for a cup of water and they asked if I wanted ranch and I said yes . The meal was supposed to be $11.99 plus tax and it came out to 14 something when I asked when she said 75 cents for a water cup and another 75 cents per ranch. I totally get extra on sauce not on a small cup of water . I would normally give big Hoffa a 5 they are truly best in my opinion Hamilton county don't agree for 75 cents up charge on a small water cup that is why I am rating 4/5 read more

Looooove Big Hoffas! I have a gluten allergy and have always had a very safe experience here. They are super fast and the staff is accommodating. If you live local, my favorite secret hack is to order online and pick it up in like 10 minutes ! We went to Big Hoffa's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and Jacob has outstanding customer service skills. The pulled pork, baked beans and mild bbq sauce were my favorite. The macaroni and cheese was just ok. The BBQ ribs are very tender and seasoned just right. The garlic rolls were a hit too. I highly recommend this bbq spot if you are looking for some really good beef ribs, the ribs are so delicious that you don't have to put any sauce on them. They have different levels of heat for the BBQ sauce also. If you like Brisket this would be a good place for you to check out. I give them 5 stars for flavor‼ They have ice cream too. read more
