I'm only in town for a week and I dicovered this place. I wish I'd know about it when I used to live just a few blocks away. Chili dog with onions and cheese was perfect: plenty of everything, but not actually impossible to eat with your hands. The carne asada tacos were fantastic. I ordered another round of both, just in case I didn't get to go back. I did get to go back though, and got a bacon cheeseburger with added jalapenos, which they, awesomely, grilled without my asking. The meat was smokey and cooked all through, but still juicy and not overdone. Plenty of just right bacon. The guy at the counter was friendly and helpful, and the cook tossed in a word from the back as well. Didn't try it, but they also make asada fries, which sounds great, breakfast dishes, teriyaki, and chicken and club sandwiches. With a little more neon, this could be that cool fusion place in Blade Runner that ended up on the cutting room floor. I also thought the giant Tommy's chili dog sign looming over Big Fat was a nice touch. As was the nearby Loyal Order of the Moose lodge Graffiti Watch sign covered in graffiti I guess I'm going to have to leave town so I can go here again the next time I'm in town. read more

This was the worst takeout breakfast I have ever had. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a French toast plate on Sunday morning. $30 later, I got home to a disappointing, overpriced breakfast. The breakfast burrito was over 80% greasy potatoes. It barely had any egg or other ingredients. It was flavorless and bland. The French toast plate was just generic toast dipped in scrambled eggs--again, bland and flavorless. The bacon was burned and tasted old. The eggs were plain, bland, and overcooked. Honestly it's mid , you can go anywhere else and get the same experience. If you are planing to eat here make sure you take cash , it seems like they charge extra if you pay in card and I never received a receipt when ordering my food , and I paid around $29 for 2 of the avocado and mushroom burger and fries had no seasoning you might as well bring your own seasoning. Probably try again paying in cash and see how much it comes out to. If the order is way cheaper then card transaction then that's scandalous. read more

Pastrami Burger. Forgot to take a photo of my meal. The burger and fries were very average. No zing or lack of flavor there of. I would say one of the problems with my food was it's lack of seasoning. Not much flavor. At the very least the burger should have had salt and pepper. Friendly staff! Lots of menu options! Was $12 + change for a pastrami burger combo (with fries and a drink). I love steak fries and the pastrami burger was DELICIOUS! The burger was so big that I couldn't even finish it...and I'm one to finish a good meal, haha! This little gem is right down the street from my work and I'm definitely going to come back here for lunch breaks in the future. I can't wait to try the mushroom-avocado-burger! I had Big Fat bookmarked for quiet some time now and we decided to give it a shot since we were both in the mood for a burger. When we arrived there was plenty of parking and the place wasn't busy. They had two tvs playing soccer and the guy at the front register was funny and very friendly. I decided to go with the double bacon cheeseburger and an ice tea while my fiancé got the bacon cheeseburger, chili cheese fries to share and a Diet Coke. The guy brought our meals on a tray and the fries and burgers looked delicious. The burgers were huge and the fries were steak fries drenched in chili and cheese. The burger didn't really have a taste to it. It was kind of plain and boring. There was nothing special about this burger that would warrant a 5 star rating. I decided to have a bite of the fries and it was the same, plain taste and not a lot of flavor. I noticed my fiancé grabbed a bunch of ketchup, mustard, salt and peperoncinos to add to her burger and now I see why. I really wanted to like this place and I thought I might of possibly found a hole in the wall with great burgers but unfortunately this wasn't it. Well it is just like the name states, it is a big fat burger! I got the double bacon cheeseburger and felt like I couldn't finish it. The steak fries were good with the salt on them and they have yellow peppers. One of the things that I didn't like was that the burger felt a bit plain. I came here with my wife to try out some burgers (which is the name sake of this restaurant) and also a philly cheesesteak cause, why not? Well the parking is small, but so is the building. The staff is nice, but not very talkative, we had a little trouble ordering with the man behind the register, but eventually got it out. $22 for a burger combo and a philly combo... seemed a little steep for a small burger joint, but maybe the food is amazing. I got my Horchata and sipped on it while we waited and was able to finish it before the food, but saw it costs $1 for a refill of horchata and .70 for sodas... having worked in the fast food industry I felt like that's penny pinching. The philly came out first, hot and tasty, fat fries were good, but we were still waiting on my wife's burger... the paper wrapping made it look HUGE, but when it was unwrapped it was more bread and lettuce than burger. Not the most flavorful patty, and my wife's onion rings had a pool of oil on the bottom of the container - we opted not to finish them. The decor also was very drab, it needs a face lift, it looks like it hasn't been updated since 1999. Photos package taped to the walls, some faded of food that they make, I don't think it adds to the dining area. Scrap it and maybe make a large photo board that's nice instead of the photos all over the walls. As the 2 stars states, meh, I've experienced better. If I could I'd give it a 2.5 stars because I'd try some of the other things they have, but not for a while. read more

This is one of my Girlfriend's favorites and we go to it quite a bit when we are over at her house. The place is pretty much like every independent burger stand in so cal. I can't really tell the difference between this, or farmer boys, or douglas' or any number of burger joints. It is family run, and the service has always been fine. It's good for what it is. From what I am told, this was quite the place in the 1960s. But here in 2010 the first things I noticed were dirty floors, wallpaper from the 60s or 70s, graffiti, out of order video games, streaked windows, and a lackadaisacal attitude from the counter guy. Nonetheless, I was hungry, it was Sunday evening, Fab's was closed and I wanted a Hot Dog. So I went to Big Fat. I wish I could give them a Big Fat Zero in the star department, but yelp insists they get the 1. My dog was split in half so it could be grilled face down. Even though theoretically that should make it even easier to heat, it was still served lukewarm. The chili was warmer than the dog, but that still wasn't enough to melt the cheese. Even though I ordered it for there rather than to go, it was served in a Styrofoam clam-shell container. I guess they wanted to make sure the lukewarm didn't escape. They didn't even care that the bun was splitting into two pieces when they served it up. Normally I knock off a star or two when a place charges for refills. They wanted an additional 75 cents at Big Fat, but that's the good thing about being a one-star place. No one can knock your rating down any lower. read more

So I been looking all over the westside and the valley to find the best chili cheese fries to match the nearest chili cheese fries from Tam's on Rosecrans in Norwalk...this is the closest one yet!! I called in, ordered the chili cheese fries well done, extra cheese. Man--my belly was sooo satisfied. It's a small portion, and will run you 5-6 bucks with the extra cheese but the best chili I've had since. And they know what we'll done means. Located in Saticoy and White Oak The parking of it is weird you have to be careful on how you park. It is right next to little Cesar's and El Rancherito they are the only competitors near it. When I entered the building I saw the menu right away and I got the double cheeseburger with beacon.It is huge I usually finish a four by four at In&Out , but it is no comparison. It took a good while for the food to be made but the result of the burger was worth it. I spent $12:00 on it but I don't regret anything it came with a lot of fries and big burger and drink. This time I ended up finishing the burger but not the fries. There is a bunch of regular customers. The place isn't as full as it should be, it is very quiet. The place is small, but it is well known for the burgers. They take calls from people that order. The people that work there are helpful and reasonable. They will help you with anything. You can use a debit card. While you are waiting for your food you can be playing on the old arcade games. It cost 50 cents but it is worth it helps with the time passing by. Other than that the food is very delicious I would recommend this to anyone that loves burgers. the place is very quiet it could be very good for business meetings.There wont be any Interruptions while you have the meetings. The clients I would see here are meat lovers because it might be pricey but the food is a lot and you are basically paying what you get.
