There are no sit down restaurants left after Covid and pickings are pretty slim even fir takeout. Luckily there is the Bowery Haven Snack shop. What to like: fresh faced young people taking your order and handing it to you directly when it's done. Most of these folks are college kids from local schools up for the summer to work. Remember that when you tip! They all seem very happy. Burgers. A variety of burgers freshly made to order on a tasty fresh bun. Fries cooked in beef tallow. You can substitute macaroni salad but the fries...Remember how great these were back in the day? They also have a good chicken strip dinner and fish n chips. They have salads as well. Not to miss is their delicious lemonade is multiple flavors and fountain drinks. Top everything off with hand scooped ice cream and believe me the scoops are very generous. The only downside is that everything is a little pricey. However when you consider any alternative is 45 minutes away and the great people, it seems worth it. Plenty of parking and lots of nice souvenirs and fishlake clothes to browse while you wait. Highly recommended.

Kelsey you were the first smile I received back in January & missed you on my way back this trip. When we pulled in yesterday Ali (Owner) & Dan were on the roof installing this awesomely & artfully designed "Ace's Place" sign. This cafe is next door We proceeded to have a fabulous dinner before heading off to the priceless Red Hill Hot Springs up the street. Our bodies fell into a sweet slumber in comfy bed at the adjacent sweet & historic Monroe Inn! I love Ali's touch, she has thoughtfully remodeled this Inn and added such personal & artistic flair throughout the Inn & Cafe. Ali remembered I wasn't fond of lights at night & unplugged the ones in backyard. Dan is the man who seems to excel at everything including cooking! The Inn was exactly what we were looking for to recharge and reconnect outside of the big city. The Innkeeper is so wonderful and hospitable, we loved all of the little touches-everywhere from the garden to the shower curtain. There is also a stellar little diner attached to the Inn. We found the chef to be extremely passionate about his cooking and the labor of love that is the Monroe Inn. It seemed like everyone we encountered was passionate about the Inn and the beautiful little town. So many people were working together to make the Inn and its diner just the most relaxing, beautiful, and enjoyable experience. We fell in love with this sleepy little town and can't wait to go back.

One special feature that really set this place apart is the music played throughout the lobby and hallways-it's subtle yet really sets the mood. I absolutely adore when people use sound in placemaking. While the rooms were cozy and clean, the walls are very thin. We could hear our neighbors very easily-I'm not certain they were especially loud or if their regular volume just sounded loud to us since it was late and there was little barrier to separate out the sounds. Overall, however, I'd be happy to stay here again!

Highly recommend. Should be priced at least 3 times what it is. Our room was large, with free wifi, fridge, microwave. Really everything looked brand new inside. Again, I highly recommend this place.

It had plenty of space for all of us and had absolutely everything we needed (dishes, dish soap, hand towels, you name it). it was amazingly clean and well kept and was scenic as well. Plus the owner was very sweet and made sure our visit was as good as could be. I would most certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a well cared for, comfortable, and friendly cabin. I would go back again tomorrow if I could.

They offered to mail my favorite shirt, Jeans and jacket I left then kept them anyway. We stayed…read morejust a few weeks ago and accidentally left our laundry hamper hanging on the back of the door. While the owner notified us promptly and offered to mail it to us...which at the time we thought was super awesome and better than driving back 2 hours. They never sent them, I would have just driven all the way back. It had my favorite shirt, matching my daughter's, my favorite zip up jacket my son gave me along with a favorite pair of jeans. Not to mention my husband's and daughters clothes. That is what I will always remember about this trip... what a bummer that they lied. I just want my stuff and am willing to go get it or pay for shipping but they won't respond.
