Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel - Exterior

I had almost booked Clear Sky Resort for the Stargazing dome view, but decided a shorter 4 minute…read moredrive to Bryce Canyon National Park to get there early before the crowds would be better since we only had one day there. The lobby has a super tall ceiling and a lodge-like feel, really fancy and modern. Plenty of parking. The breakfast included breakfast with a big buffet of scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with ham, pancakes, cereal, sausage, bacon, fruit, tater tots, breakfast muffins and donuts had much more choices than the Best Western we stayed at in at Springdale for Zion National Park. There is one elevator. Pay attention to the receptionist when they tell you the floor. Our room was 3461, and he said the 4th floor which seemed like a mistake until we got out on the 3rd floor and could not find our room. The second digit refers to the floor number. The first number refers to the building. Room was clean, comfortable, spacious and the bathroom vanity was long. There was an inexpensive Keurig machine. I successfully made my coffee, but my husband couldn't get the machine to turn on again even with wife help. Microwave in the room. Our mini-fridge was warm and fiddling with the temperature control didn't seem to start it up. I put those comments on my Best Western survey and the general manager responded and thanked me and said the problems would be addressed. The pool and hot tub are located in the center of the buildings, so it can be more shaded there in the afternoon. The park shuttle does not stop at this hotel but Ruby's Inn about 7 - 10 minutes walking. We drove the 0.5 miles for dinner there - Cowboy's Buffet and Steak Room. We got there about 5:40 pm and by 6:30 pm, it looked like a 30-45 minute line. When they run out of the ribs, you might be stuck eating the buffet or other menu choices. The ribs were good!

Check-in was rough. There was only one person working the front desk at 4pm, so we waited about 20…read moreminutes in line just to get our room key. The room itself was nice, clean, and cozy. The location was perfect for visiting Bryce Canyon. We could drive to the park in 10 to 20 minutes, which made it easy to catch sunrise, sunset, and stargazing while still having a comfortable place to come back to. Breakfast was great! The crib they provided us did not meet safe sleep guidelines. The mattress was too small for the crib, and it left a large 2 inch gap. Luckily my baby is older (13 months), so SIDS or suffocation is not as much of a concern anymore. But it is something to keep in mind. My biggest concern happened on our second night. We came back after sunset and stargazing, around 10:30pm. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. My baby was fussy while we were working through our bedtime routine. Just as he was finally drifting off, the front desk called and woke him right back up to tell me they'd gotten noise complaints and that we needed to be quiet during night hours. The woman rudely said "Quiet hours start at 10pm why aren't you being quiet?!" She treated us like belligerent partiers instead of a family with two small kids. When I explained that we have two babies and were doing our best, she still wasn't professional or empathetic about it at all. It honestly gave me a lot of anxiety because I was scared we would get kicked out for my baby crying whenever he made any noise. The hotel was not full, so maybe a room change to a more remote part of the hotel would have been appropriate. I have traveled with my kids many times before and never experienced something like that. There were many elderly guests staying around us, so maybe that contributed to the problem. Still, handling the issue with a little more understanding and grace would've gone a long way for me. Housekeeping could use a little work as well. I don't think they vaccuumed the floors our entire stay. With two little kids, there were some crumbs on the floor. By the time we left it was getting pretty bad and I didn't like my baby being on the floor because it was dirty. Overall the location is great and the rooms are nice, but management should think hard about how front desk staff are trained to handle situations involving families. I'd think twice before booking here again.

That was a very pleasant surprise. This place seems newly constructed and was very nicely designed to be spacious feeling in a very simple way. The main building was just a row of rooms, similar to a motel, but the artistry of the rope walls flowing like a canyon, really uplifted the whole feel. In the room the green plants, wall art and simplicity of a clean room, with the space to have comfy seating gave a feeling of ease. The open view to the cliff wall from the sliding door wall was about the prettiest scene you would want out of your bedroom. They offer rooms with and without a hot-tub on the back porch, as well as dome rooms, some with skylights for night time star viewing. However the domes don't open for reservations until sometime in April, the rooms with hot-tubs go very quickly!! I regret to say that we only stayed overnight. I now wish I had given us more time in this delightful hotel.

Incredibly clean and huge thank you to the folks who refreshed our room!! We got the king suite with hot tub on the patio. As everyone mentioned, stunning views. The stargazing rooftop was a fun option! The customer service was outstanding. The owner Joshua helped make sure our stay was perfect! All of the other staff we interfaced with were wonderful too. I also love the reusable water bottles in the mini fridge. We used those throughout the stay and were perfect after hiking!! Love the Shooke Coffee in the rooms with the French press - the best way to have coffee in a hotel. Definitely checkout their storefront while you're in town! No complaints, no notes. Would recommend to everyone! Thank you, Skyview!

The carpets aren't just dirty--they'll turn your feet black if you walk on them barefoot and we had to keep our shoes on other than to get in bed. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, and the pool and hot tub were clean and enjoyable. The pool towels will make you feel like a giant compared to their tiny size. There is a restaurant and market close which are convenient but not sure if that gives marks to the hotel.

There is an inside pool in a separate building on the property, but we didn't visit it. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. All the staff we dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that the AC/heater units are older (and very noisy). The attached restaurant had decent, mom and pop style food for unbelievable prices (full roast beef dinner for $12)! The market across the street had great prices too. We didn't have much time to explore Parowan, but did take the short drive from town to see the petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks in Parowan Gap. Very pleased with our stay here.
