At roughly 10,000 feet, it's an ideal place to adjust to higher elevation. Personally, a long stay here noticeably reduces the effects of altitude, improves my breathing, and translates into about a 30% faster pace for me above 10,000'. Sleeping at 10,000 feet versus somewhere closer to 8,000' isn't a subtle difference, at least in my experience, it's significant. The accommodations felt much more like a compact suite than a typical hotel room, which made the stay especially comfortable. Brian Head, or Cloud Head as we renamed it in conversation (I understand locales with last names, but am not necessarily a fan of those centered around first names) isn't trying to compete with places like Vail or Aspen, and frankly, that's refreshing. It's understated rather than overdeveloped, with a level of peace and quiet that's becoming increasingly rare in mountain towns during summer. Nearby Cedar Breaks is genuinely spectacular and, in my opinion, every bit as beautiful as better-known prime destinations of the West, just without the crowds or self-importance. I'm used to spending extended time above 8,000', so I really appreciated averaging closer to 10,000' throughout my stay. That extra elevation makes a meaningful difference for acclimatization. If you're coming straight from sea level though, expect your body to need time to adjust. The first week or two can be an adjustment, even if you're otherwise fit. As others have noted, this probably isn't the destination for anyone who's uneasy with steep mountain roads, dramatic elevation changes, or a high density of deer casually appearing alongside the roadway. That's simply part of being in the mountains. I've seen complaints about the lack of air conditioning, but honestly, that feels like people applying city expectations to a high-alpine environment. At this elevation, it simply isn't necessary. Crack a window, let the mountain air in, and by nightfall temperatures are usually in the 40s, making for some of the best sleeping weather imaginable. Nearly every staff member I interacted with was friendly, capable, and professional. My only minor criticism is that one younger employee didn't set clear expectations, which created some unnecessary confusion and additional follow-up. It wasn't a major issue, but it stood out because everything else was handled well. Overall, this is an excellent choice if you're looking for a peaceful mountain escape or high-elevation base for hiking, peak-bagging, or spending time outdoors. It attracts people who appreciate the setting for what it is rather than expecting a resort experience, and I would absolutely stay here again.

The road to the hotel is picturesque but can be harrowing, especially at night when there are no lights and deer and antelope (I saw both on the way up) are plentiful. I had emailed the hotel a week before the stay to make sure that our visit--complete with 16' moving truck would not be an issue, but I never received a response. We arrived late but front desk staff was very friendly and got us to our room relatively quickly. The room was spacious but the thermostat was very finicky, resulting in a fitful night of sleep due to the temperature. There are some updates to the room that could be made as it is starting to show its age. A major reason for selecting this hotel during our cross-country move was the spa options, but there the facility fell quite short of the mark. The large hot tub was empty and roped off, the small hot tub was cold, the dry sauna was not operational, and the wet sauna was underwhelming. Staff was notified but it takes quite a bit of time to heat up a hot tub and thus we had to move on to our final destination without the benefits of the hot tub. The gym is incredibly small for a hotel of this size and price point as well. Coffee in the lobby was appreciated and the library/game room is a nice touch as well.

We lodged at one of the establishment's two "treehouses" and it was a great experience! The food was prepared perfectly. On night one, my wife and I both had the mixed green salad and then the filet mignon. The meat was served perfectly medium rare as we requested. On night two, I had the halibut and it was to die for!! I am a chef and often hesitate ordering halibut because it is over-cooked and tough. This was moist and perfect. My sincere compliments to the team!! My wife had the chicken and she absolutely loved it. We only ate dessert one night and got the cheesecake. Holy cow! This was the tallest cheesecake we've ever seen but perfect! I make cheesecake fairly regularly and I give this a very high rating. But all you need is one piece for the two of you. You need to realize that Tropic is a town of about 500! The fact that this inn and restaurant exists and is producing the high quality that it is almost defies logic. Kudos to the owners and staff that make this happen regularly! If you are local, I hope you support this gem in your backyard. If you are passing through and appreciate a higher-end dining experience then this is a must visit.

For the most part, Red Ledges Inn is pretty basic.. not the bougie places I'm used to.. lol.. But room rates (123 a night during the week), no parking fee, no resort fee.. that's pretty good. And it met and excelled as far cleanliness. Our room and the premises had an updated modern look, carpets clean, no musty smells. Our bed were comfortable. The water pressure just right for the shower. Plenty of towels. Housekeeping did great on our stay here. Front desk were cordial.. could work on being a little more welcoming. Complimentary continental "breakfast" were the grab n go kine ones. I saw Granola bars and packets of oatmeal.. the kind you add hot water to and apples. Just a suggestion, add some English muffins and toaster, maybe that would satisfy the hangry people on here. Speaking of food, love the proximity of places to eat which is just right next door! IDK BBQ and Rustler's Restaurant are just a few feet away from our hotel and have good food and reasonable prices. Red Canyon is nearby, this place is right on the infamous Scenic Byway 12, deemed the All American Road. Would recommend this place and community for first choice to stay and visit !

Good - well priced, convenient location, front desk clerk was friendly and gave us a sack breakfast (since we would miss the actual breakfast due to leaving early). The rooms are basic but clean. Bad - I was double charged (the website I booked with charged me and the front desk clerk ran my card again). I didn't realize this until I checked my credit card statement two weeks later. I believe this was an honest mistake and this isn't the reason for the bad review. It's how it was handled filed later. I called the hotel at least 5 times to request a refund because 4 of the times no one picked up the phone and there was no answering machine. The lady told me to email the owner (the email is not published online), which I did and I included proof of the double charged. No action was taken even after I followed up via email. I had to do a credit card dispute which the hotel didn't respond to so my credit card company ended up refunding me. A lot of trouble and frustration to have to go through.

I would give 3 stars for the no-frills motel, but 5 stars is for comfort and experience. Seriously,…read morethey are the best! I booked the last available room online about 2 weeks prior to my trip. It is based on the honor system, so payment isn't collected until you arrive. I noted on my reservation that I will arrive at about 8PM, but when I realized I wouldn't make it, I called and the owner said that if I make it by 10PM, I should be fine, probably because it is currently busy season. I gave my credit card info anyway to hold onto the room, just in case. I later realized I wasn't going to arrive by 10PM either, so I called again. I was told my room is taken care of since I provided a form of payment already and was given info on how to access it. I then decided to stop and have dinner in Kanab, therefore arriving in Hatch later since there was no longer a rush to pay for the hotel. Unfortunately, my credit card did not go through, so the owner tried to contact me multiple times, but I had no reception and did not receive the calls. I finally arrived at Hatch Station at about 11:15PM, and there he was at the front calling my name. After I found out what happened, I felt so bad. He was so friendly, processed a different form of payment, and also offered anything else we needed even though it was already late and he was tired. I later received the voicemails he had left earlier in which he said that he could only hold the room til 11PM. I was very lucky that I still had a room when I arrived. He had no obligation to hold it for me or to even wait that long for me to arrive, while not knowing when I would arrive. I got the family room (2 queens and a rollaway) and it was spacious. There is a walk-in closet area with a fridge/freezer and microwave. The bathroom has towels, shampoo, and soap. There was hot water for a nice shower and everything was comfy and clean. The wifi is great here. There is the quick mart, a cafe, and the Galaxy Diner for food options. I can't say enough good things about this place and the people who own it. I wish I had booked another night here instead of staying in Bryce. Thank you, Hatch Station! You are amazing!

This year there were a lot of people going, and we decided to get a room, to just sleep in. They had the best price in town, so we decided to stay there. Honestly, because they include a Breakfast, I was expecting a Motel 6 atmosphere. To my surprise, it was a 5 Star experience! As we pulled up to the Hotel, I was shocked at how nice the exterior was. We were promptly greeted by Wendy, and we were welcomed like family. The room we stayed at was #5, and I'd definitely recommend asking for it.
