My friend and I did a road trip in November and stayed here on the way home. The temp outside was 20 degrees and inside was leas then 50 degrees. The person who checked use in was a creep and followed us around the property while we walked our dogs. This same person had no concern the temperature inside the room was not acceptable. There was no hot water either. He was rude. When we arrived he pretended not to speak english. The next morning he spoke perfect english. He refused to compensate for the lack of heat. Would never stay here again. Turned him into the health department will be sending a email to the city re: the lack heat. Will also be contacting environmental services for the city. read more

Booked a room here because it had decent reviews. Well not sure what rooms others got but ours was awful. Well walked in there were big stains on the carpet then we found mold in the bathroom. And there was a faint urine smell in the room. We put our things back in our car and left. read more

The Lamplight Inn met all our needs for a two night stay in Panguitch. I booked a three queen room because initially we thought there would be three of us. It turned out there were only two of us but for the price the room was still a bargain. The pictures online were a little deceiving in that to me it appeared that it was three beds in one room, but it's actually two beds in the main room and a separate bedroom with the third bed. The room has the basics, microwave, fridge and coffee machine. The room was clean and comfortable and the owner is onsite. It's conveniently located next to a gas station that has a Subway, Yogurtland and whatever other market items you might need. And because it's on the main street there are other restaurants within walking distance. We were in town for a road bike event but this is a great option if you plan on exploring nearby Bryce Canyon. read more

How to review a hotel property like this one is a true puzzle. On the plus side, the proprietor couldn't be any nicer. She was warm and friendly, helpful and efficient, and truly, the model of what anyone could ever want for someone running a hotel establishment. Our room was clean and quiet. On the minus side, this place was a complete dive and exceedingly outdated. The beds were arranged on opposite sides of the room rather than side-by-side (truly bizarre), leaving one person unable to view the television. The room had zero amenities of any kind. The hotel property has the feeling of a slasher movie, although I will add quickly that our stay was uneventful. read more

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Lamplighter Lodge. We stayed in the 3 bed family suite which was clean, roomy, and quaint (I especially liked the bathroom that reminded me of our homes original bathroom before we had to remodel). We even took advantage of the table and chairs in the yard to watch the storms in the distance at night! The owner was very nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend a stay here and will happily stay again should we return to Panguitch. read more

I am always a little nervous staying in a motel because it can go very wrong but we loved Lamplighter. It was very clean and the fenced in yard was a lifesaver with our dogs. Well to start out with they don't always have someone at the front desk, you have to call the number on the door to get someone to come over and check you in. The place on the inside looks like it was decorated from the 80s. The tub is a bright pink and the shower head is slightly short for anyone of average height. With all this said the hotel is cheap. I paid a total of 41 dollars with tax for a room. So it's one of those things, you get what you pay for. So even though there is a few things wrong with it, it is a decent value for your money. I stayed there during the balloon fest. Great place! It is under new management and they are slowly making some much needed upgrades. The room was clean, they are dog friendly and even have a little "dog park" to take your dog to with chairs and tables. The town is small, so everything is within walking distance. It is very convenient to Bryce Canyon too. The Dollar General next door was a hoot! There is a Subway and a yogurt place next door. The new owners were very friendly and accommodating. Clean and quaint! Mom and pop owned! Pride of ownership shows! Better yet a dog friendly room which is hard to find in this town. Comfy bed. No frills but as said clean and clean. Fantastic little lodge/motel in Panguitch. Fully loaded with everything a motel could offer - we had a large spacious and very clean double room for several days whilst hiking in Bryce Canyon which was less than 30minutes away. Free WiFi was great and reached into the rooms, microwave, fridge, heating and cooling. More than enough facilities for the money spent. Quiet rooms and not oversold like larger chain motels. The new management staff are amazing are amazing and went out of our way to make this experience desirable. Very attentive to service, going out of our there way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Big thank you to Benjamin. Supermarket, restaurant, Subway & Family Dollar were all within walking distance and reasonably priced allowing to stock-up before our time into Bryce. Highly recommended overall, well worth the money spent. I don't normally write reviews but this fine example of a motel deserved it. This was a nice place to stay...in 1961. But now, 60 years later it is has never been updated. If you do stay here though, don't rely on having any staff on premises or needing many essentials because little are provided for you. Plus the room is small enough only to sleep & go to the bathroom. There were zero instructions how to work the 2-remote TV system so make sure you either provide your own entertainment or...just fall asleep once you arrive. Oh, but they did provide some comic relief as they had this 'Bag of Rags' they left us in the bathroom. In a plastic bag, there were 3 torn up, tattered rags for us to use for cleaning up messes, removing makeup, etc but we utilized them to fill the massive gap underneath the door over the threshold so bugs couldn't walk in. But, heed their warning on this precious 'Rag Bag' because if you abscond with even one rag, there will be a steep penalty! All in all, please use our review as a heads up for you to stay in another property. We were charged $75 for a room/services we felt were worth $40. The owners of this property have no idea how to run a motel & should change professions. read more

This is more like 2.5 stars, because it was a teeny bit better than "meh", but I have definitely, absolutely experienced better. Lamplighter is a mom and pop motel in Panguitch. Basically the only reason you would stay here is if you are going to Bryce Canyon, which my husband and I were. This is about as rag-tag a motel as you will find. 1960s furniture, possibly the mattress too (eek!). Linens that have been washed so many times they feel like toilet paper, mis-matched everything (pink/aqua tile in the bathroom, wooden light fixtures, but PLUS! - a BRAND NEW TOILET!). When we arrived in the room the old furnace in the room #1 didn't look like it worked and #2 also looked frightening to actually use. Luckily they had provided us with a space heater! And luckily the room was so small the space heater did the trick to keep everything nice and toasty. Room that we had came with a small TV (with DirectTV that didn't work the first night we were there, but was fixed the second night - thanks to management), a bed, one chair, and one night stand/lamp combo. We stayed here two nights, and it is not my cup of tea, but it did in a pinch. This is what you get when you wait just a few days before Memorial Day Weekend to go on a trip to a National Park. read more

My wife and I stayed here for one night while we visited Bryce Canyon, which is only half an hour away. The motel is older, but we had a pleasant experience here. Check-in took only a few minutes, and the person at the desk was friendly. Our room had a microwave, a flat screen TV with DirectTV, a refrigerator, and Wi-Fi. The rooms are very clean and we were able to secure one with 3 queen beds since we were women traveling together. Lorrie the owner was very helpful with anything we needed. I am from Arizona and enjoyed seeing both Zion and Bryce Canyon very much. Didn't have enough time this trip so plan on returning and will stay here again. We had a wonderful stay over a weekend. Lori (?) is a great manager and is making MONUMENTAL upgrades to this motel. Tile replacing old carpet, new paint, clean bedding & towels, comfortable mattress, new coffee maker/microwave/refrigerator, clean bathroom, etc. Her efforts are admirable and for this price range it is a bargain without too many consequences. Realize this is an old building so there benefits and negatives for this. Parking is tight and there is no vent fan in the bathroom. However the walls are solid concrete or block so we didn't hear our next door neighbors like in most motels. The rooms are a bit small but adequate for short stays. If you haven't had a good experience staying here before, give this place a re-try. Also, I called the motel directly for rates and Lori(?) quoted prices $10 cheaper than Hot3l.com or 3xpedia online. Good. I get the first review. All the motels in panguich are fairly sketchy. Or classic in a old fashioned Route 66 sort of way. Anyway, yes the walls here have peeling paint but they are clean units, cinder block construction, teeny, but 39.00 goes a long way. If you just want to sleep, shower, and head for the national parks, this is safe and friendly. The owners are helpful, the ice machine is usually broken, but we were grateful we picked this one for the fair price, safe free parking, and quiet. Ps... My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Lamplighter Inn last week 6/16-6/17. Prior to our visit we were on the road from Denver Co. heading to our home in Ca.. We had decided that we were going to visit Bryce Canyon and Zion national parks and made up our minds that we were going to stay in Panguitch UT which is a short drive to both parks. Our search criteria consisted of two important items, pet friendly, and low cost. We decided after a few phone calls to stay at the Lamplighter Inn in Panguitch. What a pleasant surprise when we checked into room 11, the room was recently completely remodeled, the beds were very comfortable and the Hotel owners daughter offered to dog watch for us while we were off sightseeing. We met our criteria and much more by choosing the Lamplighter. This hotel is under new ownership and they are determined to change the negative ratings it received under the previous ownership. Oh, in addition they have a nice doggie park setup. So all in all the price was more than right, the room was wonderful, Direct TV with a new TV set, and very comfortable beds, and Lori the owner and her daughter Julia were awesome.
