    The Making of the knife
    Olin C.

My brother and I, along with our two sons stayed here for two nights on our recent fishing trip. My son, being 11 left a couple knives in a drawer that he had brought in to show his cousin. One of the knives my father made, who, originally, was going to join us but decided not to last minute. I got a phone call that my father died last night very unexpectedly. When I sat my family down to tell them, my son remembered the knives. I called the owner of the hotel and thankfully he had them and offered to mail them to us. I asked if I could come pick them up instead (2 hour drive) and he said yes. He then suggested that he meet Me part way so that I didn't have to drive so far. He didn't know about my father or that I would be driving 8 hours home to for the funeral, he just offered out of kindness. My 11 year old son and I drove and met the man where he said and we both thanked him. I told him then what had happened and how much we appreciated the help. He was so kind. If you're in Panguitch Utah, there is no other place you should consider staying. The man was kind and helpful from the start of our stay and an angel in the end.

I cannot say enough good things about Blue Pine Motel! I do a lot of traveling and this is the cleanest little Motel I have ever seen in my life. The staff is responsive and friendly. The only downfall is there is no pool or jacuzzi but I think most people there are headed to the lake. It's sits in the center of old town across from restaurants and stores. It's just about soundproof with brick/cinder block walls. Our room had a perfectly quiet refrigerator and the air conditioner blew cold. Softest bath towels ever for a hotel! Parking is directly in front of the room. Safe, clean area. Room to park your boat or trailer. We will definitely be going back soon!

Affordable, clean, hot shower, close to Bryce canyon with local businesses within short driving distance or walking distance. That pretty much sums Blue Pine, and that's all that I'm looking for when it comes to a place to stay. I have to admit, I have never stayed in a motel before, and the name "motel" doesn't strike a positive note in my mind. However, on a pinch over thanksgiving break, we booked our 2-night stays here while visiting Bryce canyon and Zion. I'm glad we did. It was a very comfortable stay. When we checked in, the owner told us that he already turned on the heat in the room some time ago so it was nice a toasty when we got in (very nice considering that we arrived in a snow storm). The place shows it's age but is very clean. The heater is loud so if you're a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you. The mini fridge and microwave are very clean and are always useful to have, especially when it's cold outside and everything is closed. The vacancy sign outside is definitely confusing. It shows no vacancy but I see not many cars parked in the parking lot at all. Perhaps there are a lot of no-shows because of the snow? I would definitely stay here again or recommend others to this location.

Clean, up to date basic motel room. Wifi good, AC works, frig, microwave. A great value at under $75. The big rigs run down the highway all night, so bring earplugs. Front desk a bit rude and unaccomidating.

    Clean and very comfortable

There was no way we were going to chance changing rooms. They obviously have very low cleaning standards. Finding this made us wonder if they even change the sheets or clean the toilets. The lady at the front desk said we'd have to contact the owner for a refund. We called back a couple days later to talk to the owner and the same woman answered and was yelling at us and hung up on us. We did not get a refund and are working with our bank to see if they can get a refund for us. On the bright side, we found the Panquitch House Bed and Breakfast right around the corner. It was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. Only cost $50 more and provided a very nice breakfast.

The Indian owner said that he can give me the bed sheet, but we'd have to change it ourselves, which I said that was fine. While on the phone, I also noticed hairs on the pillows and dirty stains on the bed cover. I also ask the owner to bring the pillow sheets and the bed cover, but he is adamant that there are no hotels in the United States that change the beddings everyday..(!!) He also says he has no extra bed covers. I asked him how often he changes them, "every 2-3 days" is his response. He again accentuates that this is "an absolutely common practice in the United States." I'm shocked at his audacity to be honest. Maybe this delusional bonehead really believes in what he is saying. I told him that is not true, and he says "you can go sleep at a different place and pay a $100. We can't change beddings everyday while charging $50." This tells his character in whole. At this point, his nerves must have been struck hard because out of the blue, he tells me write a review, tell the health official, do whatever and see if he cares. His character is really shining through now. He offers a refund for our leave (this rewards him the one star for the review he ill-naturedly requested), which we gladly took. This friendly small town does not have five star $100 hotels, but I found a place to stay just 2 minutes away from this squalid place that is at its cleanest state (Days Inn). The owner of Days Inn was hilarious as she responded to my question of rooms being cleaned out daily "I will raise hell if they don't get cleaned everyday". Thank goodness there exists a hotel in the United States that cleans. The owner simply needed to apologize and provide the clean sheets for us instead of allowing his defensiveness make ignorant statements out of his dim wits. He was impermeable to be reasoned with, his lethal oratory fumes surely challenged my pulmonary capabilities.

Oh, you need to hit the State Liquor store if you want booze or Wine. FYI 6/2021 They are currently building a new "Travel Lodge." Managers/Owners David (Cowboy) and Chrissy are friendly, garrulous, accommodating and usually are found on property cleaning, improving or involved with local events. They have clearly assimilated to Utah from Texas. When we arrived we were upgraded to an awesome kitchenette because we did not have TV cable in one room. Since we were hiking and riding, it was great to store beverages and prepare a few dinners comfortably. The grounds are not manicured but clean. The Motel Rooms are rustic and thread-bare worn but they are clean enough for a couple of nights. You might need to drop a few bucks at Joe's or Family Dollar if you want to cook a meal. I did and had fun figuring how to cook and serve a great family Bolognese pasta dish without tongs or a colander. Are there certainly some things that could be improved: another mirror, mounted TV, bathroom layout, clean window treatments, new carpet, basic kitchen tools, a coat of paint, trimming sticking doors, recycling bins, rickety chairs, on and on and on. However, this review of our personal expectations are realistic and tempered with locale, price, convenience and availability. I expected that this would not be the Ritz-Carleton in Paris, France. We needed TP, a wine opener and suggestions beyond the park (Cedar Break) and they were welcoming to those who were as equally friendly and non-judgemental.
