Enjoying my morning coffee and the amazing view outside my room at the Skyview Hotel in Torrey, UT.
Frank P.

I'm not really a review guy. Because, honestly? Most places are just OK. But the Skyview Hotel? This is legitimately the first time I want to be able to leave a 15 star review. Wait, no. Make it 20 stars. The day after Thanksgiving, 2023, my business partner and I made our way from Denver to Torrey, not realizing we were driving into a crazy, unexpected snowstorm. Stress was high, we may have almost died a couple times. But the amazing folks at Skyview were cheery and welcoming upon our arrival, even though we were very late and very much behind schedule. The property is muted from the exterior, save for a really interesting art installation along the outside walkway. But a reserved external appearance makes way for the big reveal - rooms that are beautiful, intentionally-designed oases of comfort and relaxation, a perfect hideaway from a long day's journey or active vacation adventures. From a cupboard stocked thoughfully with local snacks to comfy beds, great furniture, and amazing views, the Skyview Hotel is a thoroughly unexpected gem. If you're anywhere near Torrey, UT, I wholeheartedly encourage you to stay a night or five at this lovely hotel. Let's reward their excellent effort with business for years and years and years!

King Suite Room with Hot Tub
B. G. J.

We spent two nights here. The first night was in the king hot tub suite. The second night was in a star gazing yurt. The first thing you notice when you arrive at the hotel is the very kind and helpful front desk staff. We were personally walked to our room and shown how to work everything! They truly make you feel as if you have arrived home! The other instantly impressive note is the design of everything. From the entrance, the rope art, the lighting throughout, real plants in the rooms and yurts, and personal touches throughout ~ this place is as impressive as the Capitol Reef National Park! The hot tub was very easy to use and one person can easily remove the cover and put it back on. After relaxing sore muscles in the hot tub, we were able to catch up on a show episode casting using the Apple TV. Our second night was in the yurt. This was a cool experience but the private bath was a walk. Robes are provided for middle of the night treks. I wish I would have had ear plugs because the traffic noise from the highway and wind bothered my sleep. My husband was fine. This was an incredible stay overall and I encourage anyone to try it out!

Plenty of room under sink for wheelchair to roll under.

This place is a gem! Total gem. Found it on a whim, loved the pics so a quick road trip and we were there. The hotel is designed so well it almost just blends in. The staff was kind, attentive and full of helpful tips about the area. As far as accessibility for wheelchair users. I found the room pretty accommodating. I could roll under the sink in restroom. The roll in shower and bench was good. Bed height a little high but I was able to get in just fine. It does look like there would be room for a lift if you bring one. The parking lot is gravel and difficult to maneuver alone. They also have a rooftop patio but no ADA access. But friends... the view... the damn view. You have a beautiful patio with doors that open. It's quiet and calm and honestly just what my soul needed.

Instagram-worthy of 5 stars! Luxury bedding, towels, and pump toiletries. Complimentary local treats were such a nice surprise! Spectacular views. Good location. Cute porches. Love the AC unit- it's quiet and easy to control. Sooo clean. Awesome staff. Every detail has been thought of! (I stayed in a room, not a dome) The only request I have is a hot tub!! That would be the icing on the cake!

Super friendly and attentive staff. The free coffee was amazing! The accommodations were very comfortable. It was a little cloudy when we stayed so all we could see was the Big Dipper but that was no fault of the hotel. Highly recommend!

This place is great! I come to this area a couple times a year for work and my company got the reservation. I will ask for it in the future. It has only been opened a few months. It's clean! The owner is super nice. I'm assuming she's the owner. One of the cool things is the art piece that creates a hall in front of the doors which is made of ropes and looks like a slot canyon looking down it. They have the option to buy a breakfast box to be delivered to you that a local restaurant puts together. It's $15 and comes with a drink. There are also snacks in the room that are complimentary. The bathroom products smell good. There is a little back patio where the cows come to the fence about 15' away. There is the obvious surrounding areas of beauty too. Highly recommended!

Essential double queen room

A gem amongst the beautiful surroundings. We called to confirm our booking and was warmly greeted by Nick. At the time of arrival Lara was so inviting and helpful in getting us an early check in as the (Gifford homestead was closed for lunch). She and Nick made the check in experience truly seamless. Skyview is a brand new hotel and with so much character.. From the freshly baked cookies, complimentary beverages, high quality toiletries and towels. No detail was overlooked. Capitol Reef is the final destination for our trip and we absolutely loved it. A lot of it was attributed to the wonderful service we received at Skyview. We highly recommend this hotel and have zero feedback for them as everything was already thought of. The view is absolutely breathtaking in all directions. Torrey is such a quaint little town. This is a must visit!

All the members of the staff we talked to were cheerful and friendly, and we felt all the more comfortable and welcome because of their smiles. We browsed the goods since we were of a mind to get snacks and settled on a small berry pie with a crumble top. Though it was the size of a single-serving pot-pie, it took 2 of us 2 meals to finish all of it because it was so very rich and berrylicious. We ate it outside since those crumbles got everywhere the moment we opened the to-go case, but oh it was worth the mess potential because it was so darned good. We love when we find small towns that still have their old general stores lovingly maintained and properly run. This general store is just that, and we will be super happy to visit again next time we come through the area.

Guests of the motel gets free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate from the general store which is open early til late, 10pm I believe. We ate at the deli for breakfast. I was looking forward to the quiche based on what I saw on the Yelp pictures but I guess the menu has changed. They only offer breakfast sandwiches now but it's made to order so we got to choose type of eggs and proteins. It did take a bit a time for them to make it so factor that in when planning your visit. The sandwiches were ~$12 each but were pretty filling so perfect for another day of hiking.

Onsite restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a BBQ restaurant across the street. There are several hotel-like sections with either a parking lot view or the mountain view in the back. There are also small cabins, teepees and covered wagons to rent. It was chilly and windy at night in May, so I was glad we had a room with a window heater that worked well. The room's windows opened which was nice for fresh air. Some rooms have better chairs to sit to admire the mountain view; ours had a cushioned metal chair like you would see in a banquet facility, but I thought it was a thoughtful touch to be able to sit outside our room to sip a coffee and admire the view. The room had a sofa and coffee table and wet bar with a Keurig coffee maker with Starbucks coffee which was a nice touch (instead of generic or cheaper coffee) and a generous supply of creamer/sweetener packets. Mugs and paper cups were provided. Refrigerator (no freezer}, and microwave. Lots of room on the bathroom sink. Toilet and bathtub/shower in a separate room. I can't remember if it was this hotel or another one where the bathroom fan in the toilet/shower area would run for a pre-determined time even if you shut off the switch - just let it run. There was a slightly annoying curtain between the bathroom area and the bedroom which was pulled back but still hung down on the top. It was to provide privacy if you were changing in the sink area which would be nice if you had a family or friend you are traveling with. Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap (rather drying to the hands), hand/body lotion, mouthwash, Q tips, a dark makeup washcloth were provided. Two luggage racks and extra blankets in the closet. The room looked a bit dated and had a Southwestern theme, but it was clean and comfortable. We had room 406 at the very end of the hotel building section next to the covered wagons. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the main building with the restaurant. Pool was 3 - 9 feet and the hot tub was deep and felt wonderfully hot. Wooden steps up to the hot tub. There was a closet filled with towels which was really nice. Fitness center. Outdoor gas firepits and chairs. To get heat, it was better to sit where the wind was blowing but it also blew the gas smell. It was a bit too windy and cold to enjoy so we didn't stay long. Breakfast (not included) was fresh and hot, scrambled eggs perfectly cooked. Small gift shop with some snacks on-site. The front desk receptionist greeted me every time I walked in and was nice in our interactions/questions. You would reserve llama and horseback trips, but it looked like the llamas will carry the gear and lunch if you choose but not you. We drove to La Cueva Mexican two nights for dinner - good prices for the amount of food, and I loved the salsa. We stayed at the resort for two nights before going to Bryce National Park for a night then to Zion. This isn't a fancy, modern resort, but it was clean, comfortable, and had some thoughtful guest touches. We would stay here again and recommend.

Be aware however, they are small and they did not design them with any places to put a suitcase or your stuff. However, the location and views are amazing. Where this place lacked was service at the front desk. When we checked in, the girls was simply regurgitating a list of things we could barely understand since she talked so fast. Since we had the cabins, the walk to bring our stuff was quite a distance. She never offered any assistance for us. Now, we simply thought that must just be the deal, but the next day, we saw someone with a golf cart helping another family with their luggage to the cabins. Hmmmm.....we just got ignored. I do want to give a shout out to the guy at the restaurant at breakfast however. They were shorthanded and he was running around like crazy. Obviously flustered, but he handled it like a pro. He was friendly and helpful and just kept running around. I don't recall his name, but he was awesome. I would stay here again, but they just need to work on customer service at the front desk. And for goodness sake, offer assistance with luggage. This place is a big property.

Our second room was spacious and comfortable, with terrific bedding and pillows. It's actually one of the loudest hotels I've stayed in (in terms of noise from outside my door) and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. We unfortunately got booked closer to the cafe, so we could literally hear everything and everyone. We had an early day next day, but couldn't sleep earlier cuz their quiet time is 10 and people really took that to heart. Later at night, when people where talking as they get in their room, I could hear them. In the morning, everyone who passed by, and when they used the ice machine at some ungodly hour, I could hear them. I swear it was like our door was made out of paper. The faucet, they're the bowl style sink, that didn't work out. If you put it at light water stream, the faucet lever drops so water stops. If I put the lever higher so it doesn't drop to automatically close, then it gushes water too much and now it's splashing all over the place. I was heavily disappointed because they promoted themselves as a spa, but there was nothing spa like about this place.

We were on the 2nd floor because the first floor room only slept two adults and we had three. That first floor room is ADA friendly. I believe there are about 10 rooms in the entire building. All have different names related to a school setting. There was an interesting front door policy but for the sake of safety I won't write about it. We stayed in the Arithmetic Room. It was clean and ready upon our arrival. We arrived one hour early and were unable to check into our room??? So we went in search of food. It was slim pickings for sure. Torrey is a sleepy town. Many establishments open at 8:00 am and close by 3:00 pm. Some places are closed In the middle of the week. I wish I'd known this before booking a room. Our room was really two rooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom. The decor was what you'd expect in an antique-vibe establishment. As far as beds and pillows, the pillows were too hard for our liking. My mom and I woke up with stiff necks and headaches after the first night. We did check out all the pillows on the other beds and found two that were softer. The actual beds were great. The bathroom was not ADA equipped and was not marketed as such. My mom had a difficult time using that bathroom. We had an excursion that first morning and were being picked up at 7:00 am. Since breakfast is served at 8:30, there would be no breakfast for us. When I informed the owner of this, no other provisions were offered. We were not offered coffee, which ended up being Folgers anyway so no loss there. We were not offered any kind of small snack etc. I even texted the owner the evening of our first night to remind her that we would not be around for breakfast. We were the ONLY party staying at the facility this first night and I wanted to ensure that breakfast was not cooked and wasted due to our absence. In the name of customer service, I was hoping we could grab coffee or tea and a snack and then head out for our excursion. Unfortunately, none were offered. The grounds are well manicured. It is a lot of work to maintain these gardens which were beautiful. My friend is an avid gardner and explained the various varieties of flowers, plants, and shrubs. A deer hung out in the gardens that first day. It's a very serene setting. We had two tv's in our rooms and could pull up Prime, Netflix, etc and watch just about any type of program. We did get breakfast today. It was pretty amazing. We were served gluten free banana crepe/pancakes, cantaloupe, grapes, grass fed beef sausage, poached egg with cheddar cheese and condiments like strawberries and yogurt for the pancakes. Canadian maple syrup was also served. Anyway, I gave this BnB a 3 because we did not feel very welcomed the first two days. We seriously did not see anyone on that first day after that initial meet with the owner around 2:00 pm. We were not asked yesterday about how we slept, were we comfortable, did we need anything etc. In fact, we didn't see anyone yesterday either. Today seemed more welcoming. Just fyi, If you sway more toward the liberal side of life, you will love it here. Here's your sign.

Torrey is a tiny town with a lot of character, there's good coffee, good food and very good hiking not that far away. I don't recommend walking there after dark, there's just no safe path. You can ignore the old review comments about Irene and Kim, also the Yelp business description. They sold the business to Shawn and are no longer active here.
