I noticed there were no current Yelp reviews. So as a public service, here you go. This is an old school house turned B and B. We were on the 2nd floor because the first floor room only slept two adults and we had three. That first floor room is ADA friendly. I believe there are about 10 rooms in the entire building. All have different names related to a school setting. There was an interesting front door policy but for the sake of safety I won't write about it. We stayed in the Arithmetic Room. It was clean and ready upon our arrival. We arrived one hour early and were unable to check into our room??? So we went in search of food. It was slim pickings for sure. Torrey is a sleepy town. Many establishments open at 8:00 am and close by 3:00 pm. Some places are closed In the middle of the week. I wish I'd known this before booking a room. Our room was really two rooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom. The decor was what you'd expect in an antique-vibe establishment. As far as beds and pillows, the pillows were too hard for our liking. My mom and I woke up with stiff necks and headaches after the first night. We did check out all the pillows on the other beds and found two that were softer. The actual beds were great. The bathroom was not ADA equipped and was not marketed as such. My mom had a difficult time using that bathroom. We had an excursion that first morning and were being picked up at 7:00 am. Since breakfast is served at 8:30, there would be no breakfast for us. When I informed the owner of this, no other provisions were offered. We were not offered coffee, which ended up being Folgers anyway so no loss there. We were not offered any kind of small snack etc. I even texted the owner the evening of our first night to remind her that we would not be around for breakfast. We were the ONLY party staying at the facility this first night and I wanted to ensure that breakfast was not cooked and wasted due to our absence. In the name of customer service, I was hoping we could grab coffee or tea and a snack and then head out for our excursion. Unfortunately, none were offered. The grounds are well manicured. It is a lot of work to maintain these gardens which were beautiful. My friend is an avid gardner and explained the various varieties of flowers, plants, and shrubs. A deer hung out in the gardens that first day. It's a very serene setting. We had two tv's in our rooms and could pull up Prime, Netflix, etc and watch just about any type of program. We did get breakfast today. It was pretty amazing. We were served gluten free banana crepe/pancakes, cantaloupe, grapes, grass fed beef sausage, poached egg with cheddar cheese and condiments like strawberries and yogurt for the pancakes. Canadian maple syrup was also served. Anyway, I gave this BnB a 3 because we did not feel very welcomed the first two days. We seriously did not see anyone on that first day after that initial meet with the owner around 2:00 pm. We were not asked yesterday about how we slept, were we comfortable, did we need anything etc. In fact, we didn't see anyone yesterday either. Today seemed more welcoming. Just fyi, If you sway more toward the liberal side of life, you will love it here. Here's your sign. read more

Loved this Bed and Breakfast! We stayed in the Moenkopi Room and loved it! We had a beautiful view and a lovely room. The room was clean and ready when we arrived (the pull out bed was even made and ready for the third person in our group). The property has plenty of history! Built in the early 1900s. Butch Cassidy and his gang attended events there when it was being used as a dance hall. They have pictues on the main floor of classes that attended school there. Breakfast was loved by all who stayed there. Everyone we spoke to loved their stayed and raved about the morning breakfast! The breakfast is organic and delicious. As you make your way down the stairs toward the main room you are greated by the sound of music coming from the grand piano (player piano). We plan to visit the area again and the Torrey Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast will definitely be part of the trip! read more

What a wonderful establishment. I'll be honest I'd not got high expectations and was quite prepared to leave and forfeit deposit if I thought it was poor. My anticipation grew worry some as in the dark google kept taking us on smaller and smaller roads as we made our way from Zion NP earlier that day. But it ended well. The establishment is very easy to find and inside is warm and welcoming. It's very well appointed throughout and the bed was really comfortable. The view the next morning from our bedroom widow was awesome. The gardens are lovely. A great wee place. read more

Terrifying and gross (which is sad because also quite pretty). The Torrey Schoolhouse has some really excellent elements: the one large downstairs room is roomy and bright, the renovations were obviously done with care, the garden is quite attractive. Heck, even the rather weird massage chairs that are placed in every corner were greatly enjoyed by our 12 year-old. It's pricey but not overly so. The coffee is ok, the rooms are reasonably spacious, there are plenty of good towels. There are also negatives other than the big ones - we'll come to those! - that are off-putting. Breakfasts are not as good as the hype suggests - and on the one morning when we needed to be at a wedding event and could not make the mandatory 8.30 (sharp!) breakfast time, the suggestion was that the hostess might "microwave you a McMuffin if I have time" (!). Although the rooms feel reasonably clean, it's not thorough - when we were checking that we had packed everything and looked under the bed as we were leaving, we found not only enormous piles of dustbunnies but also someone else's underwear (gross!). The big reason to never return? The owner (and she frequently reminded us that she was the owner), Ty. She greeted us, unmasked - seemed odd for a hotel - handshake, a bit jittery but whatever. Later that day I ran into her at the coffee and said "I figure it goes without saying, but you and the staff are all vaccinated, right?" [In case of future context: this was September 2021, the very height of the delta covid variant, death rate in Utah increasing daily. Masks mandatory in any normal hotel.] To which her response was to _scream_ at me. "I don't have to tell you that! Why would you care? I take a probiotic so everything is fine!" I explained calmly that I asked because there we are in the middle of a pandemic - duh! - and she confirmed that she was not vaccinated but "I follow the science and keep you safe." While screaming at me, unmasked, indoors. Yeah. She did say that she would be willing to try to find us alternate accommodation (which we would have taken her up on, were we not in town for a wedding that had booked every room!) and that they would wear masks when preparing and serving food. Oh, and "I have a doctorate!" [I am neither making this up nor exaggerating, alas.] The doctorate turns out to be in social psychology; I should perhaps note that my doctorate is in neuroendocrinology, my background is in biochemistry, and I work alongside the NY RNA institute on - among other things - covid. So... yeah. Then she went into the kitchen, from where I can hear her telling the staff "ha! I told him we would follow the science!" Her son - the porter of the B&B then emerged, also unmasked, and approached very aggressively, stopping just short of me and loudly asking "Well? Am I more than six feet away from you?" I suggested that we might open a door to increase airflow (and in fact he did so). Will (the son) is resident in the B&B every night; based on his aggression towards me, I would not want to be a single traveller there. To be fair, most of the staff were pretty good about masking during breakfast. The exception was Ty - no matter how often asked not to, she would come right next to us and then **take off** her mask to talk! So I tried just keeping away from her - but (and again, I am not making this up) if anyone was not seated at the (9-person) table at any time, she would immediately stop all of breakfast for everyone, say that she was "waiting to issue a tardy ticket" and refuse to allow anyone to eat or serve. I mentioned the '8.30 sharp.' There's no flexibility - if you're not in your seat at exactly 8.30, no-one gets to eat until you are, and if that timing doesn't fit for you, well, too bad. The fresh fruit was fine; the "turkey bacon" that appeared every morning was rubbery and odd; the egg-based entrees were ok. I could go on - the fact that the doorknob to our room literally fell off when I first touched it, making it almost impossible to open the door, for example! - but this is long enough. I write at such length just as a warning - this really is a pretty home and it would have been possible to be very happy there under different circumstances. But with the current owner/management? Stay far, far, away. read more

What a great B & B. This place is the coolest B & B we have ever stayed in. A completely remodeled old schoolhouse with spacious nice rooms. The rooms have names connected to a school. Two retired educators really get a kick out of this place. Principle mom wanted to give me a spanking just to bring realism to our stay. Great fresh breakfast with Ty the nice owner. Easy check in and out. Another great place to stay to visit America's best idea, our national parks! read more

We stayed here for a quick stop over on a drive from California back to Colorado. Quite honestly, this was a fantastic B&B experience. The space was well appointed, the room was exactly as expected, and the views were awesome. The grounds are wonderful. I loved walking around the gardens with a cup or coffee on a cool July morning as the owner prepared us a fresh and organic breakfast, complete with an assortment of jams and local eggs. If you're traveling through for any reason, I'd highly recommend stopping here. You won't be disappointed. Next time we are in the area, we will certainly be staying here. read more

We felt so welcome and comfortable here. Everyone was so helpful. We loved the massage chair in our room (the Writing Room). It was great after a long drive. The garden is beautiful and everything about this place looks good. Breakfast was good especially the bread pudding. I can see why some people come back here year after year. Especially with their being great walks nearby in the Capital Reef National Park. We hope to come back someday ourselves. read more

Stayed here last fall 2018 on a September motorcycle trip. This was our second time here and we love the place. Very clean facility that is neatly maintained and decorated very nicely. The rooms are large and very comfortable. I love the massage chairs especially after being on a motorcycle all day. The breakfast is perfectly cooked and always healthy. Not quite what we had hoped for. We stayed in the Writing Room, a fairly small room. We understand that when staying in a B&B, you really shouldn't expect much for a tv. But since Torrey, Utah, in late October, has very little nightlife, we were looking forward to a relaxing evening watching Netflix (which is advertised on their website as being part of the amenities in each room). When I contacted the host, he said "Netflix recently made it to where all TVs that aren't new are unable to get Netflix, but you should be able to still get 14 channels". No such luck, we weren't even able to get one channel. We did enjoy reading in the parlor (no comfortable chairs in the room). And speaking of chairs, the Shiatsu massaging recliner did not work. I didn't realize until the next morning that it was connected to the light switch by the bedroom door (might want to include that in the instructions for operating the chair). The bathroom was small and the shower curtain had mold/mildew along the bottom, which is a pet peeve of mine. Several of the restaurants that were recommended were either temporarily closed or out of business. I'm not sure if that was due to Covid 19 or it being the end of the tourist season. Breakfast was good, served at 8:30am sharp. While on our trip through Utah, we stayed at five different B&Bs over a 9 day period. Unforunately, Torrey Schoolhouse was a disappointment, not the luxury inn that is advertised on the sign at the front of the property. read more

This is a gem. We've driven past Torrey dozens of times, and never actually drove through town. The meticulously renovated schoolhouse is a gem. Make sure you take time to walk through the gardens. The breakfast was wonderful, the beds were comfortable and the company was fun. We greatly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this place to anyone vistiing Capitol Reef and not camping. read more

What a charming B&B. It's decorated perfectly to the theme. We had the Writing Room. Although the room is not huge, it's adequate, with all the amenities you need. You can opt out of housekeeping. If you need towels or toiletries, you can go to the "Teacher's Lounge" to help yourself. Breakfast is delicious. We tried the quiche and bread pudding. Fruits, toasts, and a side are served in addition to the main dish. The only negative part is breakfast is served at 8:30a period, so you can't really have an early start. Wonderful unexpected find very close to the entrance to Capitol Reef NP. Gorgeously renovated old schoolhouse. We stayed in the music room. Just the right size, with a nice bathroom that is not over the top. Great breakfast, delicious hot coffee in the morning. Beautiful grounds including a peaceful Japanese rock garden. This is a great location if you are going to Capitol Reef NP or passing through the area. Rooms are nicely decorated; beds are phenomenal to sleep on! Coffee and tea are available and there is a refrigerator you can use if you need to keep things cold. The breakfast provided is huge and delicious. Great way to start your day. One thing I thoughth odd, was we never met the host. She could have been one of the ladies serving breakfast (all were super), but it is a mystery. I certainly would not ding them for this. They have a great system. If you arrive late, you can easily get to your room as they leave information for you and if you leave early or at a regular time, the check out process is super simple - leave your key, sign your invoice. The rooms were amazing and after a long day of travel, the extra perk of having a massage chair in the room was so perfect. I stayed here 2 nights and it was very nice, clean and overall a lovely place. I only had breakfast one day and sadly I'm a picky breakfast person and it just didn't meet my personal taste (though everyone else loved it!). The only downside is the coffee. If I had stayed longer I would have brought my own grounds and brewed my own. My note to the owner would be to make at least one pot stronger and buy slightly better beans. read more

We had a very nice 2-night stay in this lovely B&B. Much better than the stale-air motel rooms we stayed in on previous visits. They're not on the main road so you wouldn't even know they existed unless you found them on the internet.
