I read reviews for Big D after they were recommended to me. I spent over 20 minutes on phone with yhem giving information on lock type, key numbers etc. A time was st for 19am next day. Next dat at 11:10, I called to see if yhete was an issue because no one showed up. After the person answering the phone checked the work , he said I was not on it. Needless to say I did not reschedule!! Sorry, appt set for 10am *there was an issue *checked the work board read more

I went in to Big D's expecting to replace two key fobs for a 2011 Explorer, one of which fell apart and another non-working to the tune of app $200 each. . The gentleman was alone and in 15 minutes completely repaired one and partially repaired the other so it could be used in key slot in case of emergency. $21! I appreciate the great service and integrity at Big D! read more

I would give this place at least one or two more stars if that was possible. These are the best bunch of guys; very informative and extremely honest. I don't want to tell about all the extras they threw in because I don't want to encourage people to take advantage of them, but if you need to have car/boat keys with or without transponders and/or key fobs programmed they will do it, and for a very fair price. If you want to purchase the key(s) as well they will sell it/them to you. This place has been around for over 40 years and I never heard about them. I will continue to do business here for many years to come, and recommend them to all my friends and colleagues. read more

Big D Lock & Key - Kind of hard to find. Very worth while. - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Hazel Park, Michigan

My truck's glove compartment box was locked (yes I locked the key inside) and I had no other way of getting the compartment open. I had been to the dealership to try and get it open with no success! I made contact with D on the holiday weekend and he agreed to service the lock. D was extremely professional, time efficient, and fairly priced! He solved what seemed to be an impossible problem! I would and will go back for any need of lock services! Thanks Big D! read more

I had bought 2 key fobs on Amazon for my car. He cut both keys & programmed the key fobs in less than 15 minutes. He was very meticulous & made sure my new keys worked & twirked them until they were perfect. Fast! I am so happy that I did not go to the dealership. They have a modest storefront & good prices. It is nice to be able to go to a location & support local businesses. I would go here for sure again without hesitation. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! The honesty at this place is beyond refreshing. The guys behind the counter were total pros. We have two keypad locks on our doors (front and back) and they give you one key per pad. We have used the keypads for years and are listing our house for sale and after searching high and low, the keys are gone. I checked out yelp this am and read the reviews for this place and, although I live at 13/Campbell in RO, I rolled the dice and drove to Hazel Park. Best.decision.in.ages! I took off the entire unit and for $7.50, he was able to make new keys/re-do tumbler, with 3 keys, I walked out the door for $11.12. I went home, re-installed the first unit and took the second back, where he re-did it so the same keys work on both entries $9 out the door. They could have told me I had to replace the cores (which is what I was expecting) and I would have done it. Honesty. I love it. Family-owned and has been around FOREVER, as a child of the 70s the place took me back to they old tyme parts stores dad used to drag us to. It is just awesome. Do not go anywhere else for locks, knobs, safes, etc. It's worth the extra couple of miles. read more

It smells like old hardware store in here and I love it. Service is beyond fast, they have every key imaginable. Hands down, it's the only place I go now. Sometimes I'm even finding keys to make copies of just for the h*ll of it. read more

Great service! I needed two deadbolts installed, along with one locking door know that was not standard, and wanted them all keyed alike, I contacted them late on a Sunday night via Facebook and they replied within an hour! Totally unexpected. Two other companies didn`t even respond to my web inquiries. (Two days later, they still haven`t.) It was a non-emergency, and they were still able to come out next-day and around the visit was timed around our schedule. One lock was unusual and needed customizing, but they were back the following day to complete the job. Prompt, fast, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Best of all, I feel that they were reasonable. I`ll call them first the next time!! read more

Now here is a lockshop that has a storefront! Woo Hoo. The customer service is GREAT. They do all types of work. The price you pay for work is ALWAYS under what they quoted you in the beginning. If you are looking for older locks, newer locks, they have everything. Prices are reasonable. read more

I love this place, had three locks rekeyed when I bought my last place and a few keys made. They were incredibly kind, quick, and much cheaper than I'd imagined. Makes me wish I needed to have locks and keys made for more things. read more

When to many different chains (Lowes, ACE, Home Depot) trying to get copies of a desk key that shouldn't have been a big deal. None could do it for me. I called a local place and they never returned my call just to let me know if they could do it or not. Finally, a guy at ACE recommended Big D Lock and Key. They were able to cut the keys I needed in less than 5 minutes and the price was right. I definitely recommend them and will be going straight there for all of my lock and key needs. read more
