My wife brought our motorhome to Bob because he said he would take care of removing a lock for her. Although the lock was removed and we appreciated that and we thought it was a fair price, my wife was berated and treated like absolute garbage the entire time she was there. I've had instances with Bob in the past where I was taken aback by how rude, confrontational and irrational he was but I certainly didn't think that he would be that way to my poor wife. I feel terrible about sending her there and I would suggest only engaging this company if you've got thick skin and you're ready to walk away shaking your head wondering how they are still in business. read more

We have had issues with a person who used to work for us entering our property periodically. Our alarm system has been completely changed, the codes changed and the locks rekeyed many times. Of course we have notified the police and taken any advice given. Finally I heard about high security locks that are nearly impossible to pick. Having met Robert once before I thought that he might be able to provide this service. His response was so startling and rude. Robert suggested I get in touch with a memory service. When I asked him to explain he said that he thought I had dementia! I was unaware that I had contacted a locksmith and psychiatric service. He is demeaning and socially inappropriate and very rigid. Having worked with many people I have only seen this combination in people with OCD but unfortunately he is not a pleasant person. There are so many locksmiths why attempt to interact with Robert. Call someone else who will complete your job and behave like a professional. read more

I wish there were a 10 star. I wanted some very custom locks installed and I read on-line reviews. Based on that information and the fact that they have been in business a very long time, I hired them. I could not have been more pleased. Randy was a total perfectionist and everything he installed was spot on. He was meticulous and left not even a smudge of dust. I ordered some Baldwin Touch entrance hardware a month ago and I knew I could only trust Birmingham lock with such expensive locks and handles. Once again Randy went above and beyond even reinstalling a 1930s door knocker. Don't try and save a couple of dollars. Get quality because most of these jobs are one and done. My so called "smart lock" batteries died and I was locked out. I called the first locksmith that came up on yelp and nobody answered. Then I called Birmingham Locksmith Service and the gentleman answered immediately. I explained my situation and he said he would be there shortly. 15 minutes later he arrived and began trying to unlock the door. Ended up having to drill the lock but had one on the truck to replace it. Not too expensive but about what I expected. Would recommend. read more

I highly recommend!! They were able to fix my 15 year old fancy European French door locks (I have 3 sets they adjusted) that my renovation builder and 2 locksmiths were unable to do anything with. This place is not so easy to find, They do have a tall pole sign with the name posted right on the Western side of Woodward, just south of Lincoln, but it easy to miss and I found myself driving past it a few times. The shop itself is really not on Woodward, but rather in a small side parking lot off the street and out of the way. So id you are looking for a storefront on Woodward, you won't find one. Once I found the store, and brought them my failing lock cylinder, they had it working smoothly in seconds. In fact, they didn't even charge for a repair since the problem was caused by a stuck part that they immediately freed up with WD-40. I did get a new key made, but that didn't cost much at all. They seem knowledgeable and certainly seem to be honest. It is good to know places like this one as craftsmen that know their trade are getting harder and harder to find. Most locksmiths operate in virtual mode now and do not have any retail presence. You can call them to come out to your location to get into your house or car or to get door locks rekeyed if you move into a new location, but they want to come to you and that of course means scheduling and charge for a service visit. I like that nobody came to my house, that I was not charged a mandatory service fee and that I could just walk in and get the job done. I fee comfortable recommending this place to others. Oh, one other detail. I went there expecting to use my credit card, but they had a sign posted saying that their credit card terminal was down. So I suggest bringing cash or a check. Randy has helped me out several times and was always prompt, helpful and courteous. The keys I have been provided are cut well and work the first time around without issue. On the first job I brought him a lock cylinder form my back door for which the previous owner hadn't left a key. It was tricky to get unlatched and rekeyed but he figured it out and got it working, saving me some money on the process. read more

Please go somewhere else. The owner (Bob) treated my wife so poorly and it's inexcusable. My wife called at approximately 2:30pm on a Friday for his services. He explained that because it was after hours (?) and during the social distancing that he would need to charge double his normal rate at $210. While very close to his business (less than 2 miles), my wife thought she had no choice but to agree to the rate. He informed my wife that he still needed to get showered and dressed for the day and he would be on his way in about 30 minutes. Since this business does not take credit cards and only cash there was no deposit taken. My wife was able to resolve the situation before he arrived and called him to cancel the call. This man proceeded to berate my wife for calling and cancelling (prior to any work being performed) including calling her a "f***ing b***h." This business advertises 24 hour service, charges double during the shutdown and when I contacted the owner about his behavior, he referred to my wife as being irresponsible, which I'm guessing is how he views all of his customers (see attached photo). read more

When my daughter left her key in the lock outside, it somehow jammed the door so that I couldn't use the lock from inside and we were essentially locked inside the house from the outside. The key couldn't be removed from the outside as the storm door was locked and I couldn't access the key so I called Birmingham Locksmith. I think it was Bob who talked me through removing the handle and fixing the problem.
