Lost the key to my older vehicle and called about getting a replacement. Was told they could pick the lock and if not it the ignition column would have to be replaced. Nice Guy.. But not happy with his lack of commitment: We drove 1.5 hours for him to program a key fob that I told him the dealership couldn't do. He said he could do it. After 2 hours he couldn't make it work and suggested a new ignition button and come back and he thought that might be the problem.. so I did the and messaged him the we would drive back the following thursday. I texted him on the morning we would be going and he said " ok sounds good". I let him know that it would be after 3ish that we would get there. ..at 2 o'clock I get a text from him.. Just checking in... I told him we were about to leave our location and it would be after 3 by the time we will get there.. then he replys .. I have to be somewhere at 4! Never did he say anything that morning of his 4 o'clock obligation.. We were driving to him .. after a week + of scheduling... He said we could reschedule... well not everyone can just change plans with work schedules.... He said his wife wanted him to go to a FILA watch party... Kevin hands down delivered some of the absolute best service that I have received in my entire life. Long story, but background is needed, I haven't vented yet so this review is going to be lengthy! I'm a college student, full-time and I also work two jobs 54 hours a week. As you can imagine, my car is my life line! I decided to go to Kroger (off of E. Michigan in Ypsilanti--God awful location, don't go there ever) my car keys got stolen by the person standing in line behind me. I sat them down and turned around because the candy section distracted me and he took that as an opportunity to swipe my keys. I realized they were gone and went back to see if they were still on the counter and he legitimately looked me in my eyes and said "oh no, that sucks -- I haven't seen them." So I searched the entire store blaming myself for 2 hours because I was so exhausted while shopping, it was actually a possibility that I could have sat them down somewhere with out thinking. The manager eventually pulled camera footage to retrace my steps and found the person in line that said they didn't see them actually had them in their pocket. I eventually had to file a police report and get my car towed to my home so the person who took my keys wouldn't come back and take my car as well. So what was supposed to be a 10 minute shopping trip (on a $30 budget) turned into 3.3 hours and $390 (before replacing the key.) I drive a VW Bug, if you know anything about a German vehicle you know that it's an actual bitch to get anything replaced on it. Aside from Kevin the only option that I had was to tow my car to a VW dealership, wait 6 business days for a key an additional day for service and pay $400, not including the cost of towing it. I'm single, I live on my own, and I'm in college. So obviously I'm poor and on a raman noodle budget. My $30 shopping trip would have turn into $1000, all because someone decided to be a dishonest asshole and stole my key. I called at least 6 locksmiths in the area, none of which would touch a Beetle because of the complexity of the system, or whatever. Until finally someone referred me to Kevin. When referring him they said verbatim "he's the only person that can do it, don't trust anyone else with your VW because they probably don't know what they are doing and can really damage your car." Glad I listened. Kevin quoted me $375 over the phone, I'm sure only because he thought at the time that it was going to be an hour to service. He arrived maybe 30 minutes after calling him. The security system on my car was apparently super high tech and not what he was used to so he ran into a few issues, as I expected... I can't even get a light bulb changed without problems. He arrived around 7:15pm and left at midnight. He couldn't get it figured out but he didn't give up and come back the next morning and worked on it for a few hours. He gave me a call and said that I might have to take it to the dealership and have them fix it but he was going to try until he exhausted his options. So I'm here literally having a metal breakdown because I had to call off of one job 2 days in a row because of this issue and my other job has a start time of 6am so my only option was to take a $60 uber to get there (2 morning, so we can add that to the amount that I had to spend) the last thing that I needed was to wait another 6 business days for a replacement key. He called me again and said that he's throwing in his hat because it's been too many hours and nothing was working. So I basically almost lost my marbles and was contemplating dropout of school, quitting both of my jobs, and giving up on life as I know it. Until he called me back a couple of hours later saying that he thought of something else that he can do. He ended up coming back (during rush hour) and eventually got my car to start. Not only did he go above and beyond to get the job done but he executed it and didn't charge me more than what he had quoted me. He probably spent a good... 12 -14 hours on it and he still only charged me $375. With the work that he put in and the time he spent on it he should have charged me so much more but he didn't. I'm honestly so thankful right now because if I didn't get my car started tonight, I wouldn't have been able to get to work tomorrow and I would have lost my job. My life has been in somewhat of a shamble this month, this was honestly the final straw to throw me over the edge and Kevin was literally God sent. read more

Great experience with Kevin; he is fast, reasonably priced, knowledgeable - I don't see what more you can ask for. I called him a couple of times to get details and timing, he was polite and openly shared information and options. When we were ready for his help - he came by in 20 minutes (we lost keys and had to go through the effort of looking everywhere first).
