Big Buns Really excited that we have a BIg Buns in the area and couldn't wait to get in and try it! Food was tasty just as I remember and comes out in silver trays, except for kids. Their food came out on frisbees that the kids could keep. Great promotional idea that the kids loved. Fountain sodas were not brand name and there were also juice options, which can be refreshing from time-to-time. Inside seating was smaller than outside and a bit cold as the vents are directly above. I can see this place getting very busy and tight during lunch/dinner and when the weather gets colder. Wait time to receive food was not dissimilar to Cinco Hombres and was about ~10-15 minutes given there were a couple orders in front of us. The Burgers were delicious and the fries were and the fries were thin and crispy. Chicken tenders were also very tasty but had one major flaw: they were too salty. Salty like someone accidentally spilled excess salt and didn't throw the food out or at best doesn't have a handle on how much to use. I'll chalk it up to being a new restaurant and getting a feel for operations. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is awesome, worth every gddamn penny. Burger was big and damn delicious and the shake was thicker than a bowl of oatmeal. I only stopped here because I just left the VA to go shoot water-guns with my nephews but found out they wouldn't be home for about 40 minutes. So I stopped here for a bite and damn I'm glad I did. Service was prompt and accurate and they even gave me extra BBQ sauce for free (I'm a slut for BBQ). Bathroom was tastefully decorated and clean. Also - they were playing "Every Morning" by Sugar Ray when I walked in. That hit me straight in the childhood. read more

This particular location is terrible. I tried to order two burgers online, when I placed the order it stated that the burgers would be ready in 15min, 30 min later we still didn't have our burgers ready and had to hang about waiting, their excuse was they don't check online orders often, you need to call to place an order. Picked up the peppercorn steakhouse burger, 2 sides of regular fries, a side of jammin sprouts, and a cookie butter milkshake. The food was honestly great, but I have some qualms. First, I thought it was very expensive for the portion size. Plus everything is a la carte. They did not add whipped cream to my to-go milkshake, I don't know if that's standard, but for $8, I'd like everything that comes on it. Also, they did not tell me I could specify what temp I'd like my burger cooked at and default to medium well. Was able to catch it and asked for medium. For a fast/fast casual place, it's a good treat. I didn't feel like the food was overly heavy like some other burger places and I liked the selection. Well, now that they have a good number more locations I won't vouch for them all, but when I first heard of BB in Arlington and Shirlington I was curious and went. Wasn't at all disappointed. Great 80/20 hamburger cooked juicy (not smashed: who the hell presses the juices out of burgers? Lots of places unfortunately). All of the offerings are good. The fries are to die for. You don't even need the sauce but it is good for those who like that sort of thing. I like black pepper and Parm myself. The best: Mexican Coke on tap. Went for a burger and beer with a buddy of mine and the burgers were really good. The service was good too, friendly staff and they even come outside to check on you. If I had a complaint it would be the beers that I would have preferred were warm, which could have just been due to keg replacement. But it also could mean they have an issue with there tap system, so ask for a taste unless you like warm beer. Overall though, definitely would go back so that is a says a lot for me. read more

The staff were very friendly and the customer service was great but I was disappointed in my burger for the price I paid. I am from New Mexico and I love Hatch green Chile so I naturally ordered the Santa Fe burger. The meat quality was not as good as I anticipated, the chipotle sauce was good but overpowered the burger and the green Chile was barely there. They cooked the burger medium well which looked perfect, but it still tasted a bit dry. The fries were good and seasoned well. I ordered to go and they forgot to provide the ketchup as requested so I went back in to get some ketchup. They have a nice variety of drinks and I like their natural cola options. The ambiance is casual and nice with outdoor seating but I got my order to go. The fries and drink were separate so in total I spent $23 +tip and the burger was mediocre at best. I think the burgers are a bit overpriced for the quality. Not sure when I will go back, if I do I'll leave a 2nd review. read more

We both ordered medium burgers - received beyond well-done. They had obviously been cooked earlier in the day and were sitting somewhere. Drier than an Arizona desert and absolutely no flavor. I have been to the Big Buns in Reston and in Herndon. This was the first time I came to the new Fairfax location. As soon as I walked inside, the staff was very nice and welcoming. I created my own burger and it was good. I will be back to this location especially since it is closer to my house. read more

My birthday was yesterday March 1st. My man and I were looking for somewhere to eat. We passed Big Buns while heading to a Korean BBQ spot up the street. We were on a time crunch also to get back and get our daughter from daycare! Anywho I'm not high class or a diva about my birthday. So I suggested we try this place. We walked in and the place was nice and bright not too big or small. I assume the Manager was sitting at a table handling business, he gave us a moment to view the menu then came around the counter to take our order. Right off the bat he was very accommodating. I always ask the staff at new restaurants I try what is their favorite menu item or what do they like best. I asked which would he prefer chicken sandwich or burger! He made the statement that it's only one place he's tried chicken better than in this restaurant and that was in Louisiana. So we both ordered the Big Bun Burger deal, and I ordered a single Chicken Patty which was an additional $5. He told if I wasn't happy give him a call and let him know and he'll try to make it right, but if it was as good as he said then write a review. Needless to say it was very good, not the best I've had but way better than most places I've been. Also for the size of that chicken patty for just $5 was a steal. It was so juicy and crunchy, not too heavily seasoned. We were trying to figure out what the breading was made of. The burger was good too just a bit too thick than what I personally prefer. Oh yes and the drinks, I'm not a soda drinker but I did try all the drink options, and ended up mixing the Ginger Pear juice, Black Berry Lemonade and Strawberry Watermelon juice all together! The burgers are very good but the service has major problems. We ordered online for pick up at 5 pm but received a text message at 4:30 saying our order was ready. So we went to pick it up only to discover that it WASN'T ready. So we sat for half an hour waiting! The manager apologized but over the next two hours I received 4 more texts and an email saying my order was ready. The manager promised to refund my money but when I checked at home I discovered I had been charged twice. Two days later the charges were reversed. The food is still great. read more

Just tried the new Big Buns on Rte 50 in Fairfax (near Amazon Fresh) today. Burgers were VERY good, and actually came out med rare as we requested (a bit rarer, even). We didn't try any other menu items. But the ambiance leaves much to be desired. First of all, they have very little indoor seating, and it is mostly communal. One big table, maybe two four-tops, and a long bar against the wall. Outdoors are lots of tables and VERY loud music. I was expecting a place where you could relax and eat lunch, especially since they sell alcohol. You'd think they'd want people to hang out and buy drinks! But this is much more of a take-out place. We'll probably go back, but with different expectations. read more
