Lunch at Damn Good Burger Co. is definitely a three napkin affair. The Anniversary Burger was perfectly cooked, nice and juicy and the bun held up nicely until the last bite. Burger was under seasoned, Parmesan Truffle Fries were the superstar of the meal, hot, crunchy with loads of flavor. Crack sauce was forgettable, could use some spice or touch of heat. Prices are high for an industrial type space, burger was $12.99 and the fries were $4.99. It was a beautiful summer night. We had some time to kill b/4 our movie. So we decided to get a snack before the movies. My thought was fries and ice cream. We saw this place had outdoor setting, so we run in to grab some fries and a shake. I asked the person who was taking orders if the fries where a good portion for sharing, she gave a resounding, yes! My husband decided to get a classic burger and was asked his choice of cheese. Well, I wasn't hungry enough for a burger but I could always go for a milkshake. We ordered strawberry and an Oreo cookie shakes. You are given a number and your food is served to you. Well the first thing out was the $8.99 Parmesan fries with a dipping sauce. I wish I had taken a picture because the fries look like child sized. It was barely enough for one person, let alone two. Then the $10.49 shake came (I decided to get my shake to go), my husband said it was alright (but I says that about EVERYTHING). His burger came shortly after and it wasn't yelp or instagram worthy but he said it was alright . A couple of bites into the meal we decided to sit outside as it was freezing in to restaurant and our fries were already luke warm. I late night sky was beautiful and we snacked and chatted away. But just as we got comfortable, the cashier came out and started cleaning. As I was dipping my nasty French fry into their ok sauce, she asked us if we where finished. This is my second time visiting this place. And the second time was even better than the first. I ordered a Classic Burger with the Impossible Beef. I got a few standard burger toppings, and a side of Parmesan truffle fries. The burger was cooked to perfection. Super moist, and help together with each bite. The fries were so good, they must have whole potatoes in the back, because they were so fresh and not oily at all. My husband got the fricken good fried chicken sandwich and loved it! I've only done take-out (twice) from this burger joint and I can say each time it was great. Burger quality is just right for the price. It is a la carte so if you want side of fries you would need to add it for a reasonable price. Although the fries quantity is fairly small for the price (-1 star, sorry), it good enough if you are getting with their burger. I've also tried their milkshake and I have to say it was rich and delicious. Parking: you can either park on the street or in the garage. If you want to do take out, just order it online (make sure to pick the Shirlington spot) then wait literally 10-15 minutes and headover to pick it up. When you walk towards the restaurant go past the main entrance to the side door. On your right you will see bags ready for pick up. Just look for your name and pick it up. If you have cold items, they're in the fridge right below. You don't even have to speak with any one. Overall, I will continue to get food from this place. Great addition to the plaza. read more

The burgers here are really good. I had he bourbon horseradish and my bf had a build your own with just lettuce and tomato. The burgers were cooked just right, mine was medium rare, and his was well done. I think that it is great that this place makes burgers to your preferred temperature. The buns were soft and toasted really nicely. However, the chopped onions and chopped lettuce made the sandwich fall apart and soggy. Also, the description for the bourbon horseradish said it has mushrooms, but there were not any in my sandwich. I am not sure how I haven't written this review yet- I love big buns! I usually order delivery or pick up, but have eaten at the outdoor seating once. My favorites are the kale salad & the kids meal! The kids meal is actually a really good portion burger for me. The peppercorn burger is also delicious. I really enjoy their fries. The plain fries as well as the cajun fries are delicious. The condiments here really make the food next level. The ranch is so good! Last time I had the unicorn shake for a treat and it was really good- even comes with a little floatie. I came here as because I was craving a big juicy burger. I got the hot and hefe, regular fries, and the infamous unicorn shake. My friend got the shirlington hot sandwich. At the cutest corner in Shirlington, sits this restaurant. It's across from the theater and the library (which has the cutest spot to just hang outside). The menu isn't huge and the options are limited but the food was solid. I liked that they had different options for the soda fountain, ie., try the ginger beer soda. Also, I have to note that I was pretty hungry last night so I look forward to trying it again in hopes that it just wasn't a one time thing. Alvin tried a basic bison cheeseburger and said it was tasty, so that's good news. And their shakes were pretty yummy too! I ordered the matcha and he ordered his normal black and white. Limited indoor seating, especially if you have a small group, but they have outdoor seating, but didn't see any heaters. Nice selection of beers and priced very reasonably, which would push me more for 3.5 stars. If you think you're going to have another beer, they will let you keep the tab open. It took a minute to figure out how to pick it up (don't forget the napkins) but after I did...I totally forgot that it took 40 minutes to get there. It really is a great burger and fries with the aioli are pretty good too. The only thing I really didn't care for was their cola. That burger deserved a Coke with nugget ice...a large one...in a styrofoam cup. The one thing that was a major complement, however, is the brioche bun that is paired with the burger. Definitely takes the experience to a different level...good burger on good bread. Without a second thought, I'd drive the 40 minutes to Big Buns again and again. She was rude, dismissive, and demeaning to the takeout order folks, as well as leaving me high and dry when trying to order. I almost left after being tired of waiting while she seemed to do everything else but take my order. She seemed bothered by even the most basic needs of customers and equally dismissive when requests were made.
