The burgers-juicy and full of flavor. I got the Peppercorn Steakhouse. Look at the pics on Yelp. It's every bit as big and it tastes even better than it looks. This is the first time I've actually tasted mushrooms on a burger that had mushrooms on it. It was perfect. My daughter got the Fricken Good Fried Chicken Sandwich. Omg, you could taste the buttermilk, in a good way. The breading was crisp and the chicken was still juicy. We shred an order of Parmesan truffle fries. If you're on the fence, just do it. There is seating inside and out. The ambiance is that of a friendly sandwich shop. read more

My friend suggested this place. He swore this place is THE best burger place so we went! The burgers we tried was good. Their standard meat would be medium well, so if you are like me, make sure you tell them you want your burger medium rare. I didn't care for sweet potato fries that much nor did I care for chicken burger (back to Popeyes' chicken sandwich I guess ) Overall, burgers were pretty good. They sell beer and have patio area so when the weather is nice, you should check out this place. Street parkings available near the restaurant. Just watch out for a "rush hour no parking hours." read more

First time customer. Simple place, but damn, that was a fine hamburger. I had the peppercorn burger and it was excellent. The burger was warm and juicy. The sauce was also good. The meal was pricey, but it was worth the price. I also had a root beer, and was pleased to see that they have the good ice. read more

There is a new manager at the Damn Good Burger in Shirlington, and it's obvious. The service is significantly better and even the food seems more fresh...my portion sizes seem bigger too! Major kudos on the new hire and thanks for the delicious food and great service read more

What is going on with this place today. A line of seven people on a Sunday and there are seven staff standing around? After waiting ten minutes to place our order, I asked the young man at the counter why there are three registers and only one person working at them. No real explanation. I like their food and pastries but get it together people. Rather than having five people not really doing anything have a policy that when the line exceeds 4 people you move to open up the other registers. read more

Friendly staff. Great burger. Good drinks. Small but enough as far as size goes. Enjoyed my experience there.

Loved it! Great atmosphere, kind staff. Burgers were great!! They even let us cut my daughters cake in the facility after dining. Highly recommend.. read more

Note that the outside sign says "Damn Good Burgers" not Big Buns. The fries were way too salty. We ordered a burger with "no bacon". When we got home, it had bacon! The fault was with the cooks or packers not the order taker since the tab specifically said "no bacon". read more

Edit: After my review the Manager reached out to me and was genuinely embarrassed that they left the top bun of my burger, she also asked questions about what I didn't like about the tomato. She mailed me a gift card, which I found generous and surprising! After all I gave them 4 stars because the burger and fries were delicious. This company obviously cares about their customers dining experience. I was impressed. While I joked to my co-workers about missing my top bun, I did recommend they give it a try. They forgot to add the top bun to my burger! This was my first visit and I ordered to go to bring back to my office. I was disappointed as soon as I opened the container and saw that they forgot to add the top bun to my burger. I felt like I was getting a less than experience than other customers, since there were so many reviews that bragged about how good the buns were. I tried to shove that sucker in my pie hole anyway! Cause it looked delicious, but picking it up was too difficult since I couldn't hold it like I normally would. I ended up with burger juice dripping down the front of my face and chin. That's when I discovered there were no napkins in my bag! Whoops! The burger was delicious- cooked perfectly, and had a lot of good flavor. The Tomato was disappointing. It's tomato season and your selling burgers and fries for 16.50+ a pop. The least you can do is put a farm fresh tomato on it, Then it truly would have been Damn good. Lol The disappointing tomato is pretty standard for all burger places I've tried in this area. When I was Upstate NY, fresh farm tomato's were standard practice on their burgers. There really is a big difference. The fries were delicious and nicely seasoned. Next time I'm feeling rich I might give their chicken sandwich a try, but you better believe I'm checking for the top bun. I think it would be nice if they had a burger and fries lunch combo, like a smaller version of what they currently have for us office dwellers. It was Tom expensive and way to much food for a regular office lunch. But I'm such a burger slut that I had to give it a go. read more

The burgers are delicious, brussel sprouts like theirs would have made a vegetable lover when i was a kid.

Excellent food and service! I ordered a veggie burger and Cajun fries, and my friend got the bacon burger with regular fries. We both enjoyed our meals! The veggie burger was absolutely delicious; you can always tell a burger Is good when you don't need sauce!! The Cajun fries were tasty also. We dined in and the gentleman working brought our food out to us, and even brought me ketchup from inside. It's always a good feeling to have "d*mn good" food and service, so I'll be back!! read more

I went here one weekday evening with a friend and I've been wanting to go back ever since and am already making plans to return ASAP! I had a the peppercorn steakhouse burger and substituted the beef patty with the plant based patty and it was AMAZING! We also loved the atmosphere and environment with the bar in the establishment and had 2 local craft beers. The staff were all helpful and nice! There's a parking garage close by which makes it easy to get to and the whole area is walkable after you're done eating! Love this place! read more

The burgers were good! But my bun was pretty soggy unfortunately. Also the bar tender guy was really nice and professional, although this other girl with fake eyelashes that works there gave me the blankest of stares when I asked her the most simple question of all time, and she had to get him to come answer me. read more

The Damn Good Burger falls short of its name. It's a "just ok" burger that's good but not worth the exorbitant price! If I have to pay $13-$20 for my burger, it better be gourmet and come with fireworks. But it was a regular patty with a a whole lot of sauce. Keep in mind that there's another tacked on fee for fries that come separate. This place should be called Damn Pricey Burger! The good thing is that it opens late for the area, and they serve the Impossible burger. The latter here is vegan and vegetarian friendly. It's very juicy and meat eaters would also be impressed. They also serve beer and kombucha on tap. read more

I ordered a grilled chicken bowl (which cost extra money) to go and received a sandwich instead. I reached out to the restaurant but received no response. In addition, the chicken was somewhat dry and didn't have much flavor. Edit: management kindly responded and did end up giving me a full refund which was appreciated. read more

Ate here on 8/17/2024. Paid over $50 for a couple of burgers with fries and fountain drinks. The burgers were chewy and dry. We noticed a funny taste to the meat but thought it was just the seasoning. A couple of hours later we both had upset stomachs and diarrhea. This is the only thing we ate all day, so definitely didn't come from anything else. Informed the restaurant but never heard back to date. If you're in this area and craving a good burger I would recommend you walk straight past this nasty place and hit up the Carlyle. Their burger is outstanding and the service plus ambience puts Big Buns to shame, plus you'll save a couple of bucks too. On a positive note the truffle fries were pretty good! read more

The burgers are yummy and those Brussel sprouts are amazing! Love the Maine sodas too!

The food here was delicious and filling. Not to mention, despite it being a busy weekend we were able to receive quick and attentive service. I appreciated the outdoor seating which was perfect for a nice sunny day. As someone who loves a kick in her food, the hot and hefe really hit the spot - but definitely don't get it if you don't appreciate spicy food! Also, it was great that I could order without a bun and stick to my low carb diet. All in all, a great spot for a casual date night before catching a movie at AMC shirlington! read more

Wow! This burger was amazing. I got the Collaboration and it was recommended to me by the associate taking my order. She assured me it was one of the best sellers and that I shouldn't substitute any of the toppings and my friend agreed excitedly. He frequents this burger joint since he lives close. Well, she was right! This burger was absolutely delicious, juicy, flavorful. and unique. The fruit jam on this burger set it off in all the right ways. I even dipped the burger in the "crack sauce" that they offer with all meals. I'm usually a chicken person but everyone said I should at least try the burger this time. I also had the truffle parm fries. I am not a big truffle fan, mainly because the smell is so pungent. These fries tasted amazing and the flavor was unforgettable. I will come back to this place just for the fries. They go great with the sauces they provide as well. A previous time before I had a milkshake and it was great as well. They have a great selection of beers and cocktail. This is a great date night or place to just grab food and watch the game. I know I will come back since it so close to my friend's house and next time I'm trying the chicken. read more

Alright I give up on all these new found burger joint that's swear they're the next best thing. Someone I follow checked in here and I saw the drinks so that's what drew me to it and I must say the Nutella shake was the best thing I had. I ordered the classic burger with Swiss cheese, lettuce, pickles, sauteed mushrooms and a fried egg and an order of the Cajun fries. They give you a number and find you when it's ready. Took about 15 min give or take, I got the shake first. Everything cost from the condiments to the whipped cream I added to my shake..a total of damn near $25. The order taker didn't ask me how I wanted my burger cooked, idk if that's standard but the burger was barely medium well, the patty being bigger than the bun. The bottom bun was soggy and it ran out before I finished the burger. The patty was bland so I had to keep dipping it in the thousand island like sauce for it to taste like anything. The fries were delicious, that Cajun seasoning was no joke, my lips were on fire for about 20 min. The restrooms are not gender neutral and the one I went into was pretty clean. read more

Best burger in VA?! I think so! When I don't feel like driving to DC for Duke's or Lucky Buns...Big Buns is the spot! I have been supporting them since their first location in Ballston so I'm glad to see they've expanded to Shirlington. I love that they have special burgers every month and boozy milkshakes. They also did a burger pass this year which allows burgerholics like myself to get our fix once a month :) I've loved every burger I've tried. They also have yummy fries and brussels sprouts as side options which is cool. read more

Came here for dinner after watching a movie in Shirlington. Based on other peoples reviews, I was expecting good food. I felt like the burgers and sandwiches are way over priced. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I did not like it at all. The bottom bun was soaked in oil and it became too slippery to hold and eat. It was just super oily and messy. It's like they fried the chicken and just dipped it in hot oil without draining off the oil. Also, the sauce didn't even taste like hot sauce, just tasteless oil. I ended up not finishing my sandwich which was a waste. We also ordered cheese fries and truffle fries and neither one were hot when it came to the table. The cheese fries had very little amount of sauce on it and the truffle fries were okay. Note, they do not accept cash, only card transactions. read more

Visited here again for delivery. 5/5 burger with extra toppings 5/5 build my own grilled chicken sandwich with extra toppings 5/5 Regular fries this time Delivered hot, and good! I couldn't stuff it in my face quick enough, hence, no photos this time. :) Each item packed very nicely individually and placed in the bag where it wouldn't fall over and make an extra messy sandwich. The brioche bun is by far amazing. Would definitely visit again. Standards remain the same regardless which time this restaurant is visited. read more

I've had big buns a few times, both before and during the pandemic, but this is my first time remembering to review. I got the email for the pie collaboration and love apple pie so decided to order. Got the pie/shake combo for $12.99 and a kids burger combo. The vanilla shake was the best shake I've had from them but the apple pie was not my favorite. The bottom crust was undercooked and the topping was unfortunately not a good crumble. This was a collaboration with another company so not a normal menu item. The burger was great and I loved the strawberry/watermelon drink. The fries were a little salty this time but they were hot and good once I wiped off some of the salt. Overall I keep coming back so they are doing something right. read more

My fiance and I were very excited to try out this place (with a name like damn good burger, how could you not be?) and DGB did not disappoint! We came around 7:30 on a Saturday night and got booth seating for 4 immediately. The set-up is that the hostess seats you and gives you a table number, you go up to the counter to order your food, and someone brings it to you. I ordered the KBBQ, which was great! The patty was really juicy and tender. How juicy? So juicy that the buns quickly became soggy! I tend to be a slow eater, so I thought it understandable. I couldn't discern the individual ingredients, but they harmonized to produce a deep miso flavor and slight kick from the scallions and kimchi slaw. My only wish is that the patty itself would be marinated in KBBQ, rather than a KBBQ sauce on top. I wanted a more assertive, Korean BBQ flavor. Nonetheless, I did finish it clean so there's that. Le fiance got the Hot & Hefe burger, which he enjoyed but we agreed that it was not really spicy! It had a warmth to it, but you couldn't quite taste the heat of the habanero or the serrano. I have to give a shout out to the quality of the burgers here - I didn't feel gross or heavy after or the day after (I actually ran a pretty good half marathon on a burger stomach!). I think that speaks volumes about the type of ingredients DGB uses. The milkshakes are delish and thick. I had a sip of the peanut butter cup and it was pure reese's butter cup in a cup! I highly recommend ordering one cajun fries and one parmesan truffle fries if you are in a group of 4. The cajun fries are old bay, spicy goodness and the parmesan truffle fries are heaven for parmesan lovers (aka everyone). One star off because our food took 30 minutes to come out and because the kitchen messed up our friend's order that the person who wanted well-done got medium rare... For someone who hates pink in their burgers, this was a big deal for her. I can't wait to come back and try more of the burgers! read more

The name of the place says it all.... quite possibly the best burgers in Shirlington! They have monthly specials and oh boy did we luck out in November. This burger was a melt that was topped with slow cooked brisket from another local BBQ spot. It was packed with all the fixings so good thing I was hungry. The other burger we got was the Peppercorn Ranch Burger. This was another great option with a plump burger patty with lettuce, tomato, and fried onions. They also offer a variety of toppings for the fries including Parmesan Truffle and Cajun. Make sure to ask for Andy when you get there. He is the manager and will not steer you wrong. You really can't go wrong with any burger option. We will definitely be back to try the others and their monthly specials! read more

Ordered delivery from here last night using DoorDash. I got the horseradish bourbon burger and my boyfriend got the anniversary burger. We also both got the Cajun fries. The horseradish burger was delicious! Muenster cheese, mushrooms, bacon, and horseradish sauce. It was a little greasy, but I liked it. Lots of flavor. My boyfriend enjoyed the anniversary burger as well. The Cajun fries were also delicious. A little thin, but flavorful. The horseradish sauce was good and they gave extra in the side. Overall, we enjoyed everything. Nothing fancy, but if you're craving a good burger, this will hit the spot. Solid burger joint! read more

New place in shirlington! This place has some seriously good burgers. I tried the ahi tuna and the handsome tom. They just opened a couple weeks ago. Inside is cute, food comes out fresh and fast. They have HH special drinks, margarita slushees all through the day. I asked for a medium rare burger and that's what i got! Most fast food places don't get it right, but this burger was spot on. There is always a ton of parking at shirlington so no worries there. Would definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner. read more

I couldn't tell you why (because I don't know), but I hadn't been interested in trying this place for the longest time. I think it's just easy for burgers to disappoint me. Dry bun, too big of a burger to enjoy the toppings, not cooked to the right temp, etc. But not this place! The burgers are really, really good. The toppings to meat ratio is usually spot on. The patty itself isn't oversized, so you actually can eat the damn thing. And a burger just cries out for shredded iceberg. And this place has exactly what you need to make a damn good burger! Also the fries. Yessss crispy! Plus you get a dipping sauce. The burgers are a bit pricey for being just the burger (fries are separate), but the price doesn't deter me because they're such good burgers. read more

My husband had been here before with friends, and said that at some point I'd have to give it a try. We decided to stop here on a Saturday before the dinner rush. From the outside, the place looks a lot bigger. Inside, there are a handful of booths, but most of the seating are long tables that remind me of a high school cafeteria. There is a tiny bar by the entrance where you can also grab boozy drinks. I got a coffee milk shake, and built a custom burger using the impossible burger vegetarian patty. My husband chose the parm fries and the horseradish burger. The impossible burger has a texture pretty similar to real meat, which is impressive. However, I do think beyond meat veggie burgers have a better taste. I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a vegetarian burger. I couldn't tell if my shake had real coffee in it, or if it was just flavored syrup, but you could tell it started off with a vanilla ice cream base, since sometimes you'd get a big taste of coffee, and other times it tasted like vanilla with just a hint of some other flavor. read more

Do you know that feeling you get when you've had a long day at work or maybe things just haven't gone your way for a few days and you need something comforting, decadent and familiar? Well that's one of the reasons we come here, but not the only reason. The beef is great and the burgers are inventive. My wife and daughter love the shoestring fries and I love the Cajun nuggets. UPDATE: The owners, or so I believe, and the regional manager went above and beyond and ensured me that this was not how they normally care for their customers. The food is great and plus the manager probably had an "off" day. Ordered one of my favorite burgers on their menu the HOT N HEFFE. This is what I received. I kid you not. They sent me a plain bun and a plain patty. Either they're playing a sick game with me specifically because they may or may not have remembered my name or they just screw up damn near every order.
