Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I love to be generous when a good rating is deserved. I wish I could say that was the case here. We came here last week with a group, and the service was nightmarish. I'm accustomed to a bit of a language barrier with retail staff at beach towns in the summer, but this was way beyond just a barrier :( My brother ordered a mint ice cream and he was served a vanilla cone just dripping with a green sauce. The sauce was EVERYWHERE and made a mess all over the counter and their floor. How can you try to serve such a mess to someone? Not cool. After seeing that, I ordered a simple chocolate soft serve. It was way too sweet and kinda goopy. No thanks. Next time I'll spend the $11 I spent on my brother and I at Food Lion and just get regular ice cream. read more

Expensive but it's homemade ice cream so you get what you pay for. It was delish and well worth it. The parking is tight and prime for a scrap or two with people nose diving into parking spots. Oh man, every night from all the kids it's, "Ooooh, can we pleez go to Big Bucks? Pleeeez Can we? Can we?" My daughter suggested we can get some "good exercise" walking over there. But hey, it's summer vacation, so we go. Walking of course. Located in Timbuck 2 shopping center (building across from the go carts and mini golf), it's not large enough to sit down to enjoy your scoop during prime time, so plan on walking the center. There's a playground in front of the middle building with a dinky slide and climbing wall but kids like it. Figure on $5 for a scoop (more if you opt for fancy cones). Ice cream is homemade, hand scooped, and good (but really soft). Standard flavors, some frozen yogurt, and sorbet. read more

I thought that the ice cream was good. I have to add that we got there at 8:30 and got our ice cream at 9:00. The service was slow. They only helped one group of people at a time and only had one person at the cash register. Also the ice cream was expensive. Mine was 5 dollars for one single scoop. The ice cream is good but this place is NOT KID FRIENDLY!!!! We went in this afternoon and VERY loud music was playing that repeatedly dropped the f-bomb and b*tch. I have little ones and I told the girl working that there were a lot of cuss words and if she could turn it down. The family behind me left before ordering. It was really bad. The boy behind the counter proceeded to sing and rap the lyrics, which would have been impressive if he wasn't loudly singing bitch and fuck around my 3 year old. This place is awesomeeeee! It reminds me of a ice cream shop my dad would take my sisters and I when we were younger. Ice cream tastes homemade and they note that their cakes (I think they are ice cream cakes) are homemade. There are a lot of products there, but I go in for the ice cream. Good amounts of flavors and toppings. Prices are what you would expect for OBX, but quality is definitely better than most. read more

HOMEMADE ICE CREAM - That's what the sign outside says. We saw it on the 158. In fact, it's difficult to miss. The shop interior is cool, the outside has GREAT seating areas in gazebos and cute wooden high chairs. The Ice Cream is really good but does not taste "homemade", it doesn't have that something extra, whether is be that sticky sweet consistency or the flakey icy consistency, that thing that makes it different... For $3.50+ a scoop it's pretty pricey for the area. The Homemade Chocolate side of the store looks so yummy and they have FULL SIZED samples of their huge chocolates! It was good but not great. I would definitely go again though, I need to try a few more flavors! read more

All the anticipation and all the letdown wrapped into a nice little $30 check. Family of 4, 8 scoops of ice cream and a second mortgage later, we were pretty disappointed. The shop itself is pretty chaotic, poorly laid out and with only one door to get in and out of, frustratingly hard to get in and even more annoying to get out of. We ordered a single scoop in a bowl, 2 scoops in a cone, a mini sundae and the PB and hot fudge sundae and it came to $30. I added everything in my head and still can't figure out how it got there, but the girl at the register was of no help, just asked us for payment. She didn't care, just did her job. The ice cream was ok, nothing special, although all the fudge and treats looked amazing. As I said, ice cream was ok, I don't think it was made on the premises. Would have been better or more unique had it been. There's better places to get your fix. I still can't get over the price... read more

We went here twice and I had 2 flavors I had not had before. Both were awesome. I highly recommend the raspberry chocolate chip. All their ice cream is hand made and is much better then the Edy's stuff you fine in the area. Oh and if you think Cold Stone is good.. Give this place a try cause it blows that stuff away. We went there at 9:00 one night and i wasn't int he mood for ice cream so I asked for a decaf coffee. The guy behind the counter went to his espresso machine and brewed it for me in less then a minute. It was really good. SO great service and the Best ice cream in nags head make this a required stop while in the area. read more

Fun place! Distractingly large amounts of favorite, obscure candy if you have a hard time deciding on ice cream. Definitely recommend trying the random flavors you wouldn't normally encounter - let's face it, anybody can do a cherry vanilla - it's the fruit + something else flavors that are great. read more

I can appreciate some good homemade ice cream. This stuff is thick, creamy and delicious. There's a lot of great flavors to choose from - something for everyone. They have a huge selection of ice cream cones - very cute : ) It's definitely a bit pricey. We spent almost $25 for 2 adults and 2 children. There are only a few tables inside but you'll find a lot of chairs outside. The "homemade" chocolate is not at all impressive. It's just them melting down a below average quality chocolate and mixing it with nuts, berries or whatever. I wouldn't recommend it. We'll definitely stop in again for ice cream. read more

Sweet old school feel candy/ ice cream store. Every kind of candy you can imagine along with glass bottled sodas and even some sparklers! The ice cream was good and while we were there you could watch them making chocolate treats that also looked delicious. I'll be back for sure! read more

This ice cream was so good. I mean SO good. I worked at an ice cream stand for almost 10 years, so I consider myself well versed in the sweet stuff :) The peanut butter chocolate was a perfectly flavored chocolate with huge chunks of peanut butter and the espresso chip was just perfect! The hubby had black raspberry and it looked very tasty as well. I would definitely recommend them and will visit again. And as a side note: if there's a line out the door and down the walkway...well there's one thing I learned when I started coming to OBX almost 20 years ago...get in line because it's the best place around!!! read more

This post is a little late but we went here last summer and waited on a line for ice cream. I wondered why there was a line at this place and not any other ice cream places at the same location. These people have no business selling this stuff they call ice cream. They would be better off selling Breyers ice cream out of half gallon containers. This is good ice cream. Raspberry chocolate chip and espresso chocolate chip were yummy. Daughters like the mint Oreo and caramel cup and vanilla cappuccino. However their mint chocolate chip is way too minty. Waffle cone is right amount of crispness. But you have to get 2 scoops in the waffle cone- which I guess is fine but I really only wanted one. Great ice cream selection/taste and there's something there for everyone, including candies and chocolate covered everything.

Stopped in for a sweet treat after lunch and got a single scoop of cookies and peanut butter. The flavor was good, kind of like the peanut butter swirl Turkey Hill flavor but not as overwhelmingly sweet ;). I opted for the smallest single scoop cup, which they managed to somehow fit with a scoop if ice cream that was much larger than I had expected (but I'm not complaining). It was a bit expensive being over $4 for just a scoop (which is prob the only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars) but I def did leave satisfied! I also tried some of my boyfriend's iced vanilla chai, which was also very good. Would highly recommend stopping in to try some of the delicious ice cream as long as you don't mind paying a bit more than you would at other places :). read more

The ice cream is excellent, but they don't have alot of flavors. The cone selection is also good. Have not tried the coffee. But if they take the same amount of effort to make the ice cream delectable, then I'm sure the coffee is also excellent. They also sell candy for the sweet tooth and Coke in a glass bottle. The only way to drink it. I will come again when I vacation in OBX in the future. read more
