This is really good ice cream!! There was a competitor that some of the people I was vacationing with tried the other night, they said "it is nothing but Eddy's Icecream, I can get that from the grocery store." So in a desire to have some homemade and local ice cream we came here. We came to the right spot for sure, but so did the rest of OBX! The shopping plaza that is located in was super busy and the same was true inside the store. It was a little uncomfortable and I was surprised that people sat in the limited seating they had there. Even though it was balls to the wall busy the staff managed to keep the line moving. I was impressed considering that no one from the staff that spoke to us claimed English as their first language. Be sure to use the few precious moments you have in line to decide, no one likes the dude who can't figure out what they want when there is a long line especially the parents who were badger to come there by their little ones. Speak clearly so there isn't any confusion of what you want. There is only one way in and out of the store so be prepared to get close to a couple of people as you enter and exit. They have other tasty treats there to choose from too, a nice display case filled with fudge and candy. This will not empty your pockets, but it ain't cheap. I'm definitely coming back! I tried the Black Cherry Chocolate chip and the Mint Oreo, they both were delicious! Now it's time to devour their other flavors! Nomnomnomnom!! read more

This is getting one star because the staff was nice. However the ice cream was not good. From the lumps of something in the ice cream to the broken chalky hot fudge. LOVE. We came here twice on our vacation to Corolla. The ice cream was a little pricey, but it's homemade and they have more flavors than you'll know what to do with--and they're gourmet. The first time we went in my sister joked that she "blacked out" when ordering because she was so overwhelmed with the variety. I got the Coffee Caramel Cookie on our first visit and it was scrumptious. I was tempted to get it again on the second go-around but I figured with over 40 different flavors, I should probably branch out. I tried the Peanut Butter Cup and it was equally delicious. We went last night with a group of 10. Long line moved swiftly, the servers were attentive, the portions were good, and the ice cream itself was delicious. It would be a 5 Star review...but...We made the kids get cups instead of cones to prevent making a mess. Big mistake - the thin plastic cups mean the ice cream melts super quickly from the heat of your hand holding it - the ice cream in the cup turns to a melted puddle, while the scoop above the cup is still frozen - each time we dug into the frozen part with a spoon it pushed down on the puddle in the cup and splashed melted ice cream everywhere - hands, arms, shorts, shirts, shoes. The kids were upset they couldn't get to their ice cream before it was mush, the adults were annoyed by the mess and the stained clothes. Seems like changing the serving cups would be an easy fix. read more

I've been going here since I was little so my family and I decided to go to it tonight. It was super busy in there which obviously isn't there fault but after we waited for a long time to get to the front they were so rude. I work at an ice cream shop so I tried to make our order super easy. I asked the girl what kind of soda was in the ice cream soda and she didn't know the answer so she asked another girl and then came back and handed me a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cup with SPARKLING WATER. I didn't make a big deal and I just ordered something else without saying anything. The friends we traveled with did ice cream almost every day and we were told the first place had 3 flavors, the second was serving Edys icecream... A scoop for the same price as a half gallon at the grocery store. At Big Bucks there was a plethora of yummy flavors, and although the line was out the door, we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. This is in the Timbuktu shopping center and at least the Friday evening went, there was live music playing aside the Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. read more

Once we finally got to the counter to order our ice cream I told the woman that I had a peanut allergy and the woman told me I can't get any of the ice cream but soft serve. Went back today for more of the same flavors. Ice cream still delicious but I'm taking off a star for the cups. The teeny cups annoyed me the other night because the ice cream floods all over your hand but today was a little warmer and it really poured out of the cup, soaked the napkins I was holding under the cup, and dripped over my shirt. I'm all for being environmentally friendly (not sure if that's the reason for tiny cups or not) but I killed a rainforest in napkins trying to contain the mess. Can't imagine what a mess it would be with kids. Ice cream is great but be prepared with lots of napkins and wasted ice cream. read more

We visited on a hot September day and I ordered a scoop of the strawberry sorbet in a sprinkle cone. It's the kind of dessert that I'm still thinking about fondly 3 days later. Unlike many sorbets which are hard and icy, this sorbet was soft and juicy, unbelievably delicious. I would bet $10 it's made with fresh strawberries. If you're looking for a hidden gem in Corolla, this unfortunately isn't it. My family and I were looking for a good ice cream spot in Corolla and saw the reviews. Basically, it's barely ok. The homemade ice cream is average at best. We had cookies and cream and cookie dough. Neither blew us away and the premium store brands are as good or better. I can't understand why folks are raving about this place. It's pricy and the service is awful. We were served by disgruntled foreign workers who don't understand your order. I was overcharged for a size I didn't order. Try one of the other shops that serve ice cream nearby or save your money and have sundaes at your beach house! read more

We were really excited to try this because of the 57 flavors. We walked into a small tiny store front stuffed full of stuff. It was the off season so they did not offer all the flavors. Mostly they offered things with chocolate, kind of disappointing not to have more choices. My husband and I both got cones with the homemade ice cream. While it was good, it was not great. The prices were so high - the amount of money paid was not a good deal. I can get better ice cream with more options at Cold Stone. They do offer soft serve which we did not try. Would have been cheaper though. As far as their chocolates go they were nothing special - just a lot of stuff dunked in chocolate like chocolate covered oreos or pretzels. We would not go back. The Rum Raisin ice cream is delicious. I don't know what 'home' is making the 'homemade' flavors and professionally packing them in 4-gallon tubs, but they did a good job. This place is one of many poorly-named stores you can find on the Outer Banks. Who wants to spend Big Bucks on anything? But it was good. Heads up: small = 1 scoop, medium = 2 scoops, large = 3 scoops...choose your cone appropriately. This store is tucked into a pass-thru in the Timbuck II shopping mall - don't pass it up. read more
