Ice cream was phenomenal. Homemade. Many flavor choices and cone choices. I highly recommend the cake batter! Had additional candies/chocolates as well as bottled soda. Interesting little place. Had a crowd but the line moved fast. Staff was not the friendliest, but would definitely still go back for ice cream read more

Not a good experience. Family of 4 $28.00 later and will say disappointed in the management. Had to order dairy free option and was told they had one flavor- strawberry. The smoothie was advertised above the counter as dairy free (6.95) and was served a smoothie with frozen yogurt in it. When asked about it at check out was asked if they could just scoop it out. Really... with a dairy allergy i don't think it works like that. The smoothie was VERY sweet and couldn't even finish half. Sending warning to others.. read more

Great place, was there almost every day of vacation. As a Starbucks regular, and not safe to be without coffee, I enjoyed their coffee drinks thoroughly. My favorite was the Double Espresso Frozen Mocha. Although they do use a powder base to their frozen drinks, they are blended with real espresso. You can also choose what type of milk you want, which is important to me because I prefer skim, and their drinks are available in decaf. A little pricey, a 16 oz frozen drink will run you 5.50, and my husband paid nearly $6 for a milkshake. The staff is friendly. Parking can be a hassle as the shopping center is busy sometimes. read more

We've been to Big Bucks two days in a row. Mainly because we are shopping at Timbuck 2 and we need a break for drinks or snacks. We had coffee bar both days and ice cream once. The two young ladies I shopped with enjoyed their frozen, blended coffees. I like the iced coffee but it's mostly ice so you're left feeling like you didn't get much of a drink. My daughter reports that the ice cream is good. The service was pretty friendly. It's a bit spendy but I figured that's because there are not a lot of coffee bars around. read more

Ice cream was good but overpriced. There are better options all around you, like Scoop's.

Phenomenal ice cream... Don't waste your time or money anywhere else. Ignore the line - from being in a line out the door, to ice cream in mouth is under 5 min. And it's SO good. Great looking fudge selection, too. Kids loved it, parents loved it... Nuff said. read more

Stopped in for an iced cappuccino with my wife and young daughter, there were three guys working and nobody else was in the shop. Not one of the guys even said hello. In fact, it seemed like we had interrupted an argument or something because all three of them seemed miserable and unwilling to serve us. The cappuccino was terrible but I could've overlooked it if the service was even mediocre, but it wasn't, it was awful. Will not return, ever... read more

Excellent ice cream with a ton of flavors! Something for everyone. Chocolate, strawberry, and coconut were our choices. Service was great despite the large line. read more

I simply can't understand how anyone could give this place less than four stars. It's awesome! Most of the other ice cream places in the area only serve Edy's ice cream which I don't care for, so Big Buck's was a great find. My husband and I don't eat too much ice cream the rest of the year, so we like to go all out during vacation. We went to Big Buck's three times during our week in Corolla. They have some really unique flavors in addition to the standard vanilla, strawberry and mint chip types. I had the coffee toffee and chocolate chips. It was pretty delicious. The shop also has a variety of candies which are hard to find like Charleston Chew. YUM. On top of that it's a coffee bar and they have a candy counter with handmade chocolates. We didn't have a chance to try the coffee, but the chocolates that we did try were pretty good. Like some of the other reviewers said, this place is pretty small, so it's best to get your ice cream and go. We were there in the off season, but my guess is that it gets pretty busy during the summer. Nevertheless, I think this was our favorite place in Corolla! read more

Super duper ice cream happiness!! The pretzel cone is awesome - hope the idea spreads nationwide. The store is a little cramped and the kids behind the counter could stand to learn some manners but the ice cream is so good I will probably come back in spite of the pukes scooping it. read more

Ice Cream was SO delicious. Lots of good shopping and go carts in the plaza as well.

My family and I have been to bucks many times over the years. However, tonight's visit may have been the last. When we went up to order I explained that my toddler daughter had an egg allergy. The employee quickly said "nothing has egg in it." I then asked if one of the cones had egg in it. She said "no but if it makes you feel better there's a gluten free cone." That was frustrating because my daughter doesn't have a gluten allergy. It's an egg allergy. That shouldn't have been the next option. When I questioned that she spoke with someone else and came back to tell me that "the safest bet is to do a cup." Which yes obviously that's a safe option but she enjoys eating a cone. Afterwards, she began scooping my daughters ice cream and dropped a scoop into another type of ice cream and put it in her cup anyway. After looking at their ice cream flavors there is most certainly types of flavors that have egg in them due to add ins such as cookie dough or cake pieces. Any other place we have been where we disclosed that there is an allergy is very accommodating. They check the allergy list make sure they're using clean utensils etc. I'm very disappointed in their lack of consideration for food allergies and will not be returning. read more

Good selection of ice cream, sherbet, chocolates, fudge, smoothies and more. Ice cream is homemade vs others like the chill spot which is just hersheys. Definitely coming back. read more

You will never taste better ice cream. I have my favorite place (Bedford Farms) back home that is so good that I don't buy at any other shop. And Big Bucks is better. The vanilla is not very vanilla-ey; instead it is like eating very cold whipped cream; magical. The chocolate almond is really dark and rich with whole almonds, The praline ice cream is out of this world - caramel and sweet crusted pecans. It's impossible to tell whether that or the coffee crunch is better - real coffee ice cream studded with what? icebox cookies? chocolate bits? maybe chocolate fudge? read more

We are huge fans of homemade ice cream and tried as much of it as we could while staying in OBX. Too many local places are serving up Edys, which is nothing to get excited about, but this place is the real thing. By far the best ice cream available anywhere between Nag's Head and Corolla. read more

Tried out the new Kitty Hawk location. The store is small, but clean and well spaced. Staff was friendly and patient with our 3 little ones. The prices are high, but fair for the beach. Ice cream flavors (didn't seem like 57 as advertised but plenty of choices) were good. Skip the hot fudge...it was pretty grainy. All in all a nice addition to Kitty Hawk. read more

Our party of 8 stopped by tonight and the ice cream was wonderful. Great place in the Timbuck II shopping center with any taste of ice cream, chocolate, candy or coffee that you desire. I had the snickers ice cream with a chocolate dipped waffle cone- hit the spot. My wife's chocolate marshmallow was " the best I've ever had". Kids loved it as well. Busy? Yes. Crowded? Yes again. But this is corolla in mid July and we expect crowds everywhere we go. Big bucks is definitely on our list of "will return to" establishments. read more

Being from New England, we are spoiled with homemade ice cream shops every 5 miles. We were disappointed to find most shops in OBX that advertised "homemade" ice cream were serving up Hershey's or Eddys. Not this place! Delicious and unique flavored. I highly recommend the coffee toffee. Best ice cream in OBX by far! read more

Ice cream was just OK. A little expensive - but to be expected for northern OBX I guess. Flavors had a heavy sense of vanilla, even though they were supposed to be more exotic (black raspberry, toffee...). Passable for Corolla - but not elsewhere. 3 stars mainly for fast service read more

This place blew my old favorite homemade ice cream place away. Cake batter and coffee carmel cookie were just incredible!!! Lots of variety and so good! Also you can pick up some candy fruit slices which were also tasty if you are not feeling an ice cream mood. Make time to stop at this place if you love ice cream! read more

We are always seeking out ice cream shoppes when on vacation and had to go here based on reviews and the fact that it's homemade ice cream. The place itself is on the small side. We were traveling with 4 kids, one of them being 1 in a stroller, and it was hard to maneuver inside with everyone. The first time we went here we ate inside and found a table for the kids while we stood (I believe each table had 4 seats and they were small size tables). The second time around I just went in and ordered to go. Anyways, the selection of ice cream is amazing! There is a great variety of flavors to choose from! Our kids loved the crazy vanilla flavor, not sure if it was the flavor or the colors but they loved it. I had the coconut almond fudge and it was amazing! My husband loved the butter pecan. We got the small 1 scoop in a cup for the kids and it was a great portion size for them. The prices are very reasonable and you get what you pay for in terms of quality/quantity! Highly recommend this ice cream shoppe during your OBX vacation!!! read more

driving back home from buxton my pregnant wife was craving ice cream, we drove thru town and spotted this place. upon entering the entire store had an insanely strong odor of bleach, ignoring the smell we headed to the counter for ice cream the entire selection looked old sitting there for a few weeks old and was definitely in no way fresh... i opted for a chocolate shake and the wife who couldnt get a sundae bc they didnt have the stuff to make it got a few scoops of the oreo icecream. we walked out and not even five steps out my wife said the ice cream was terrible i took a bite it def tasted old and chalky with no oreo flavor at all, my shake after taking a sip tasted funny i let the wife take a sip and she scrunched up her nose it had no chocolate taste what so ever and really was just awful. we threw both the ice cream and shake away. i've seen plenty of reviews of this place and figure maybe in summer time when ice cream is real popular this place may be good .. middle of february tho ick never been more disappointed in an ice cream shop. read more
