Haven't been to a big boy in a long time. Wanted it to be good. But the salad had a lot of icky lettuce. Some onion rings were over cooked out of the 8 you get was kind of sad. And the Cajun pasta dish looked nothing like the pic in menu! The pic shows a chicken breast all sliced, we got 3 pieces of the breast!!!! I took a photo of ours as presented to us and the one in photo. Not to mention it was bland and had no flavor! Had to add some bob's big boy seasoning salt they keep on the table for some taste. We lost our Big Boys in Wisconsin a bit over twenty years ago. So in combination with keeping a promise to the uninitiated and a longing for a Classic, we could not pass this up. The burgers were just as good as I remember them being back in the day! Fortunately, my companion was also impressed with her burger choice. I love the idea of the mini shakes and deserts as it allows for a little treat. The one disappointment was they were out of the fried clams, which on a Tuesday afternoon is unsat! read more

This place has always been a decent restaurant. I mean if you wanna meet Ozzie "the wizard of Oz" Newsome or see Big Boy for Easter then its about the best place ever. However, with that being said when i was young until now theres only one constant left. Thats my aunt, and i mainly go here to see her and her boss that looks like a coalminer. The service if I am with my aunt is always stellar. We talk and enjoy quick jokes between us. However, when my aunt is not there my service varies. I ordered a turkey rueben on my last visit and ended up with a corned beef rueben. Thankfully i didnt have to pay for it. The turkey was like carved turkey, most times that would be something to have with gravy not covered in sauerkraut. The meat also i think would have been best served as lunchmeat style turkey. I dont know if they have that in the refrigerator in the back, but at least have an employee hijack it from the deli across the street dressed in the big boy costume if you dont have it, geez. However, the rest of the service was alright. The bill was a bit pricey, running me close to $35 dollars for my cousin and i to eat. If i was a hillbilly then maybe the idea of having my cousin eat with me as a date would be something else, but hes a guy and we had two smaller portions with a desert. read more

Let me start by saying that when I'm back in the Cleveland area, I'll probably revisit this Big Boy. That being said, it's got a few issues - most of which are out of control of the staff or the owner. Firstly, the food and venue brought back serious nostalgia and the Big Boy sandwich was as delicious as I could recall. The location, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I felt like I was in Detroit or Gary Indiana; i.e. heavy industry. But, the road sign said "Big Boy" and naturally I made a hard cut for the Exit ramp. Likely an earlier inception of this franchise, the venue itself was very dated. I know that BB has been closing down all over the place, so they probably don't have the revenues to perform an upgrade. The staff was fine, though they lacked the happy demeanor of the BBs I used to frequent in Indiana. I can't blame them, working on this side of town. My recommendation: go to Big boy. A sudden surge in customers would probably breathe new life into this old gem. read more

One of the last of the great American diners. Have been here twice with my parents. My Dad swears by the Big Boy combo with extra sauce. He is right. Super quick service, delicious diner food, and at a very fair price!!! The staff was always friendly and helpful too. A no loose situation for a great burger-fries-coleslaw fix. Every time we go to Ohio, we try to find a Big Boy Restaurant to eat at. Being from the Pittsburgh, PA area, we no longer have any Big Boy's around us. Big Boy used to be a staple restaurant years ago in our area, but not anymore. Unfortunately, when we visited this time, they were out of a lot of menu items, but we ended up finding something good to eat. Well here we go.. This place isn't exactly the place that I would put on my top to go menu. We walked in while four people were standing around and waited while two of them looked directly at us and said you can get them to another person and then took us to a seat. The waitress was very unhappy to be there and was very noticeable by her attitude and the way she Shrugged us off and didn't care about the service. We placed our order and waited 5 minutes to get drinks when the fountain drinks are only about 20 steps away, she came back and took our order when the order came out it was completely wrong. We addressed it and she took it back and came back shortly after with a proper food put it down on the table and walked away without ever saying I apologize or addressing the situation. Not to mention we seen several flies flying around. It was evident that even management didn't want to be there is everybody was just standing around and looking baffled by the situation. There was even a waitress that was standing with her chin on the counter and not paying attention to any customers. I even seen a few people standing waiting while there was two or three waitresses just talking amongst each other. I Can't Believe Management stands right next to their employees and none of them have any sense of direction, I can't really fault the employees if their leaders are not in the mood to be working nor give them direction and to what they should be doing. read more

What the heck!? We went a couple weeks ago for the "seafood buffet". It might as well have been called " the worst buffet you will ever eat", but I guess that isn't very catchy sounding. In the buffet they had about 15 dishes, 10 of which appeared to be burning and stuck to their buffet hotdish. The fish was greasy and flavorless. The clams were really only breading. I guess the shrimp were OK, but its basically impossible to mess those up. After one unfinished plate I knew I was done. We tried to complain by emailing the corporate office, but they haven't responded in two weeks, so I guess the best thing I can do is warn others to avoid the buffet at all costs. read more

The ONLY thing I eat from here is the Slim Jim .. Well, and onion rings and fries. I love this sandwich. Most of the time the sandwich itself gets a 4/5. Occasionally the taste might be off but it hasn't stopped me from getting the sandwich; however, what might have just stopped me is my most recent big boy / slim jim experience .. It seems the sandwich size is half of what it used to be, which isn't much to begin with. For $7-8 it's certainly not worth it. I called and spoke with a manager to ask if the sandwich size had changed he said it's been the same since he's been there for 8 months. I've been eating slim jim's for longer than 8 months, I know the sandwich was smaller :) I'll give them one more shot, if the sandwich is still lacking then they'll be lacking a customer. read more

The only reason I visit this Big Boy is when I'm going to Cinemark to see a movie, and only because of the broccoli soup. Today it was not very good. It was mostly the stalk of the broccoli, no florets. I think it had been re-heated from a previous day because instead of a creamy color, it was kind of orange-brown. However, for the first time, the lettuce on the salad bar had a mix of greens and wasn't flaccid. read more

There is definitely a comfortable and nostalgic vibe to it. Overall, it's a nice down to earth place to go to for an affordable outing. This was the 1st time in 15yrs that I have been to a Frischs Big Boy restaurant. I had the "Slim Jim" ham sandwich and it was OK and the sandwich was smaller than expected. My guy got their breakfast and said the eggs and hash browns were too watery. There wasn't enough sausage gravy for the biscuits and everything. His bacon and sausage were good. read more

The visited this place a few weeks ago. Periodically go the for the breakfast buffet. The Buffet in general is over priced but I can USUALLY find 2-3 thinks that i can digest. This last visit to the place it had a new chef for the buffet. Maybe not a chef , I should say the place has a new "Dude" fixing the buffet food. The taste and appearance of the food was terrible. The ham (four pieces left in tray ) were dry and had appearance they had been there for hours. The eggs had no taste, hash browns were under cooked , grits were extremely watery and meat had no browning to it on the outside as if the meats were undercooked. i think the restaurant has good points about it. My girlfriend and I like to stop here before seeing a movie up at valley view. we both get double decker burgers (i get mine with bacon) the service was fine, not stellar. The burgers were delicious though and also they weren't that pricey our meal was about $18-19 for the two of us. So if your looking for an average american restaurant that isn't too expensive with ok food then this restaurant is for you. The other restaurants around the movie theater are far better but more pricey because "you get what you pay for". Also our food was ready in about 15 min and we ate for about 6-8 min so we made it in time for our movie :) read more

On August 13, 2020, I went into the restaurant to pickup a takeout order. From past experience, it usually takes much less than 5 minutes. An assistant manager confronted me about not wearing a mask. I explained to him that, per the Governor's mandate, I was exempt due to a health condition. I also explained that my numerous regular tests for the virus were ALL negative. He replied that the mandate didn't matter, a mask was still required! At least he agreed to let me pay for the food that I had called ahead to order! After giving me my order, he told me NOT to come back without a mask! I looked around the restaurant and saw tables of unmasked people who had clearly FINISHED eating and were now engaged in socializing and talking on their phones! Management made NO attempt to have them resume wearing their masks, letting them sit there maskless for as long as they wanted! I contacted the corporate office in Warren, Michigan. Evidently, they feel that it's perfectly acceptable to discriminate against a disabled senior citizen with health issues, instead of enforcing their mask policy with customers who are just sitting around socializing! To corporate, evidently, the health threat posed from a few minutes of exposure to an unmasked disabled senior citizen far outweighs the risk posed by tables of unmasked customers who are sitting around and socializing for as long as they so desire! Classy way to treat a customer who has been patronizing that location for 30+ years! read more

I love cheeseburgers ! Could eat them everyday !! The Super Big Boy (with extra sauce) makes my top 5 list. It's that good .Period. Get the fries & applesauce with the platter. Does not deserve even one star. The kitchen served us RAW, not pink, but RAW chicken tenders and I am 8 months pregnant. My boyfriend brought it to the manager and showed her the meat and her response was "ok." After making a big deal about it she said across the dining room, "well I was going to comp that." As if anyone would pay for raw food to begin with. She never once apologized for the innocent and was frazzled and hectic after we confronted her. She never once smiled or had any type of customer service. We have been here before and have never had this happen, but she was not the manager previously. She never even brought the dish to her kitchen staff for them to see the mistake. Raw chicken is a huge deal and had I bit into the chicken instead of cutting it in half, I may have gotten severely sick, or worse my unborn child! I contacted corporate, but have not heard back and am definitely contacting the local health department seeing as this was no big deal to management. I will never return! read more
