What makes Scratch's French toast so good is that they don't use plain old white bread for it. Instead, they use sweet bread pudding, which makes for an utterly decadent and delicious breakfast. The pieces of bread pudding had crisp edges while being soft on the inside. They were topped with sliced bananas and a rich bourbon caramel sauce, and served with maple syrup infused whipped cream that was almost practically ice cream. The French toast also comes with your choice of sausage or pork belly. I opted for the sausage patties, which were tasty and homemade. I also ordered the orange juice ($4.50) and home fries ($3.75). The home fries were delicious. Crispy potato chunks that were the right amount of salty. Between the French toast and home fries, I left stuffed. Service was also great. My server was very friendly and welcoming, and came to check on me a couple of times. Notes - it's a small place with a couple of tables, but I was able to take a seat right away on a Friday morning. Every table comes with 2 bottles of hot sauce - a red sauce and green sauce. You pay at the cash register after you get your check.

The potato salad and cole slaw were both good. Better choice. The corn beef actually looked smaller than usual. It was good but I thought it had been larger in the past. Maybe not anymore. Service was good. Food came out on time. This is a good place to go. Prices are a bit high but it's a deli. You can do what we did and split the sandwich. It enough food. Bar is nice. She very slowly handed out drinks to a table and asked if anyone in line was picking up an order--that answer was a resounding silence as it seemed everyone wanted to dine in. No more acknowledgement was given to the people in line. I noticed this place does not have real serve ware but only plastic takeout containers for DINE-IN...that seems super cheap, tacky and actually very wasteful for plastic one-use things. They didn't even invest in real cups as all waters and drinks were served in microplastic heavy styrofoam cups. We took this all in and stood in line for about 5 minutes before deciding this would definitely not be worth it for a 2hr wait. I'm happy for the people who are actually able to try the food here but as someone who does not want to wait hours for my piping hot food with a side of microplastics, I'm totally good.

This is easily one of my favorite places I've eaten while visiting Cleveland. I ordered the steak breakfast bowl, and let me tell you--do yourself a favor and order it! We also ordered the butter croissant with bacon, which was a huge hit, and the chicken and waffles.
