Big Boy - It was the right time for the strawberry festival, so these came at a nice price with the purchase of an entree.

For 60 years, I have ordered the same Diamond Jim (which is now called the Slim Jim ) with an order of breaded mushrooms. I had both today. The staff has been here for quite some time cause I recognized faces and a couple of names. Rose was my server and her along with all the other staff were welcoming and pleasant. I had a stellar experience.today I had perfectly cooked hot food and the list goes on and on-- and yes, I could gush about the experience I had today. I could to go to the one that's closer to where I live, but I don't I because it's a dirty little place, inconsistent with anything they prepare along with having a very lazy staff at 130th and Brook Park. I come to this one when I'm going to Cinemark. Or when I'm coming to the far Eastside in Macedonia to get my haircut, I moved west 25 years ago and I don't get to the east side much but I'll travel miles and miles on a camel, on a horse, to come to this establishment. Rose was exceptional and so is everybody else and they laughed like heck when they watched me enjoying my meal like I was in heaven, and I was for my entire visit there today. Cheers and fabulouso to this restaurant.

As I waited for my food, I scanned the room and it looked frozen in time from the '70s. Had a chuckle as the phone rang about 25 times before it was picked up. There were plenty of staff in constant movement...just no desire to answer the phone. Got the food home and....eh. My burger bun was so soggy it appeared to have been dipped in water. And the iconic tartar sauce comes on the side now. But removing the offending bun and slathering on the sauce, the burger was meaty and okay. The fries were greasy and limp. A toss into the air fryer brought them back to edible. Today my car had an overwhelming fast food grease smell. Glad I got that out of my system. If I want a classic Big Boy style burg in the future, Buckeye Beer Engine in Lakewood makes a fresh and delicious one.

This little gem is too new to judge it with my normal tools, so today's review will be based on…read morejust the basics... The menu offerings are rather diverse and cover basic Americana as well as some European dishes. Breakfast seems to be their thing, but there was still a decent lunch crowd. The atmosphere is total mom-and-pop shop complete with teal booths and old school placemats. The servers are friendly and eager, with the kid-next-door charm that you can expect in a neighborhood like this. The owner is a young native Clevelander who has been in the family restaurant business since he was twelve. This is his first venture into restaurant ownership and his passion for creating a truly welcoming neighborhood joint is very apparent. The chicken noodle soup was clearly homemade and had that momma's kitchen flavor that I like. The Bang Burger is already ranking in as a guest favorite, and not without proper cause. It's a fresh patty topped with grilled ham, turkey, and provolone all on a grilled bun. Served along side crunchy fries. This burger is boss! Today's specials included a goulash served atop noodles, an open-faced roast beef sandwich with all of the fixins', and a beef kabob and fresh mashies combo. I sampled the goulash and must admit that the beef was ultra tender and it was uniquely seasoned. The surely instant potatoes that accompanied the goulash were topped with a really nice house-made gravy. The overall experience was pleasant and the food totally decent. This is good come-as-you-are kinda place. I will for sure be back and hope that others will give this little newbie a try. It's worth it. If I had to sum this place up with one statement it would be... A neighborly old school charmer that's home cooked classics help to warm up this horrid winter!

The Greek Skillet is my favorite... Eggs, potatoes, feta, tomatoes and onions... Nice and simple but very filling!
