Nostalgia... that was what I experienced when I saw this new location of Big Boy in Plymouth. This chain was popular back in the day when I grew up in the area. The business was founded north of where I live now, however most of the footprint is still in Michigan. The visibility of this suite off Ann Arbor Rd and Haggerty Rd was not great. The signage was minimal, and instead of having a Big Boy statue outside the restaurant, it was inside next to the entrance. I was accustomed to Big Boy being a standalone building with an old school diner ambiance. The interior of this spot was like a modern fast food joint. I didn't take photos of the menu, but it had all the standard fare like I remembered. A separate sheet listed the Seafood Fest which had offerings like a Pike-Perch Platter, Fish & Chips, and Popcorn Shrimp Platter. My friend ordered the first platter for his meal. I should have picked one of the burgers that featured the signature double-deck patties. I opted for a more conservative option of spaghetti with meat sauce. It was served with a grilled garlic roll that was split in half and a cup of soup. It was odd that my first choice of soup was already sold out, especially since we showed up at 1:30 pm. I ended up with a cabbage soup that had a tomato base. The spaghetti was nothing special, however the garlic roll was salty. I don't know why extra seasoning was added beyond the garlic. While I appreciated the opportunity to visit this franchise again, the execution of my order left much to be desired. The best part of the experience was seeing the history of Bob's Big Boy (as it's known in CA) displayed on the walls. I gave a three star experience for our lunch at Big Boy.

    "Toast"

Pancakes were burnt. Eggs were sent with the wrong cheese. Toast was untoasted. They took the plate i already touched back to the kitchen multiple times. I must have visited a different place than the other reviews are talking about. Do not recommend.

Big Boy is a restaurant I have grown up with, remembering the days when my father took me and my brother to the one closest to us at the time (Ford and Evergreen). That location has since closed only to be replaced by a Red Robin, which has also shut down recently. There are not nearly as many Big Boys as there used to be, but still a good amount here in metro Detroit and I'm happy to see Plymouth has one currently. I took my son for some breakfast and it was nice and quiet at the time. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Scramble, which included eggs, shaved beef, veggies and hash browns. I got it with a side of hot cakes that my son absolutely loved. Despite having plenty of food to share with him he still wanted chicken nuggets and fries. I made sure he helped me get through as much of the meal as possible and he didn't say no to any of it. The chicken nuggets and fries were also surprisingly delicious (found out later it was Tyson brand nuggets which surprised me). Spent a little over $30 for all that with coffee and orange juice. Not bad to be honest as we were plenty satisfied with the food and service. Also worth mentioning that they have halal food options here, but not all the meat is halal. Definitely bringing my kids back to build some memories, as long as this quality is maintained

It's been a long time since I have been in a big boy restaurant. I was excited when this one opened up in Plymouth. I went for breakfast this morning. I had a great veggie omelette with hashbrowns and biscuits. Followed up with a slice of famous strawberry pie. Delicious. Very clean. Great service. The interior is surprisingly bake. It looks a lot smaller from outside but it must see at least 75 people inside. Will go back.

I can't believe it! A Bob's Big Boy just recently opened in my area and I'm so excited. I'm not a big fan of the new location and the size of the business. The new Bob's Big Boy sits in the middle of a strip mall with other small businesses. There seems to be plenty of parking including handicapped The second week open and I'm still looking for a parking spot. Finally and now let's go in and look around. OMG! Not a single table is open and the customers are chattering uncontrollably. Mostly I can hear about the food and service of the new business. While I'm waiting, I just love the open concept and high ceiling and all the stencils and artwork that line the walls. So many colors but what stands out the most is the red decor, even in the bathroom. My turn to have a seat and I waited about 15 minutes and was seated by the front window. I haven't been to a Big Boy's in about 30 years. I was excited to try the slim Jim as it was my favorite. The wait time for my order was about 20 minutes but not bad considering every table was full. The waitress (Alyssa) was on the move the entire time ensuring every customer was taken care of. The lunch menu was simple (see photo) and very appealing. I ordered the Slim Jim and fries came with it. I ordered a second Slim Jim and upgraded with onion rings and an additional cost. Also, the pretzel bites with cheese and honey mustard sauce. The carbonation choice is Pepsi products. Very fresh and nice flavor. I will have to say that the presentation of the Slim Jim is a little different than what I remember. The flavor is there but I remember more meat! The ham is so thin but maybe that's why it's called a Slim Jim, any thoughts? The pretzel bites are a favorite and yummy. The food came out very fresh and temperature-appropriate. Nice job! Great customer service & Kudos to management as well. I appreciated the management/cook for visiting my table and asking about the food quality.

    My Mickey Mouse pancake

Pleasant staff, good food, clean bathrooms I would give it 1000 stars if I could. I ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes. They were delicious. I also ordered the hot fudge ice cream cake, 10 out of 10. I don't know why I'm rating it out of 10. It's five, yay!

Great food, tried it as a carry-out, and it was tasty and a good value. Hope to be able to dine in for a meal sometime soon.

It's across the street from IKEA which I always use as a landmark. I happened to be in town at the same time as some out-of-state friends so I chose this restaurant for our lunch because of its unique concept of cooking steak on a rock that has been heated up to 750+ degrees. We were the first party of the day as the restaurant was completely empty at 11:30. The menu was several pages long and had a potpourri of non-steak choices. Three of the middle pages described the concept of cooking steak on a 755°F volcanic stone along with the associated food offerings. A sirloin was available in three portion sizes. Other steak cuts were sold at 6 oz or 8 oz with or without the combination of another protein (e.g. coconut shrimp, kielbasa, ribs). Soup or salad and one side came with an order. I chose the Steak and Rib combo which consisted of a 6 oz serving of sirloin, half a slab of the house signature ribs, and my choices of clam chowder and mashed potatoes for the soup and side. The server brought over a cart that held the heated vessels. He demonstrated how to cook the meat and then placed a tray with a rock at my setting. I slathered the casino butter on the stone surface and then placed the sirloin to cook. The guidance for medium rare doneness was 15 to 25 seconds. The self-cooking and interaction with my fellow diners was what made this experience memorable. The clam chowder was the thinnest version I have tasted in a while. When I first looked at the cup, the broth reminded of me lemon chicken soup. The mashed potatoes were ordinary, and even the steak was plain with no seasoning added beforehand. There was salt and a cup of mayo-based sauce to flavor the meat. Since the kitchen did not have the task of cooking the sirloin, I thought the price should have been lower for a petite cut plus the ribs which didn't really stand out either. The service from the waiter was fine. What took long was the kitchen preparing the food even though we were their first customers. Maybe they had not pre-heated any stones until we had placed our order because I cannot think of why the other items would take that much time. I gave a 3.5 star rating for our meal at Black Rock Bar & Grill.

The cocktails are stunning, the food (whether brunch or dinner) is consistently memorable, and apparently every plate is so beautiful that I feel compelled to photograph it. Beyond the food, the service is always exceptional. The staff strikes that perfect balance of polished and warm, making every visit feel like a special occasion. And then there's the atmosphere. The abundant natural light, thoughtful seasonal décor, and the undeniable gravitas of a beautifully restored former bank create an experience that feels both elegant and welcoming. The Ledger is absolutely worthy of being a destination restaurant for celebrations and milestones. But the biggest compliment I can give it is this: we don't save it only for special occasions. Whenever we're nearby, we make a point to stop because the food, drinks, and experience are just that good and the seasonal specials never stay as long as you'd hope. And of course, the speakeasy downstairs is always the perfect end to the night.

In essence, if you've had one pizza from the Big Three, you'll find they are they are very much alike. Growing up in the 1970s into 1990s, independent Mom and Pop restaurants served the best pizza you have ever tasted. Sadly, most of them have faded away over the years, but Maria's in Canton has real staying power and have been in business for over four decades. The owners of Maria's firmly believe in giving their customers the best service possible. They treat you more like family than just a number. They have always been one to think outside the box when it comes creating new and exciting products. Today, my coworkers and I enjoyed one of their truly unique concepts that was very delightful. No other restaurant that I know of, has ever offered a Thanksgiving themed pizza before. However, some creative genius who works in kitchen at Maria's let their mind run wild, and you end up with pizza that has a bread like crust, mashed potatoes for a base, then all the fixings like turkey, dressing and light cheese. To top it off, you can add gravy like I did, or cranberry sauce. If you ever have the chance, the interior at Maria's is rather interesting. You have a wide variety of liquor to choose from, and a whole lot more than pizza on the menu to choose from. Next time, I want to try their catfish.
