It's across the street from IKEA which I always use as a landmark. I happened to be in town at the same time as some out-of-state friends so I chose this restaurant for our lunch because of its unique concept of cooking steak on a rock that has been heated up to 750+ degrees. We were the first party of the day as the restaurant was completely empty at 11:30. The menu was several pages long and had a potpourri of non-steak choices. Three of the middle pages described the concept of cooking steak on a 755°F volcanic stone along with the associated food offerings. A sirloin was available in three portion sizes. Other steak cuts were sold at 6 oz or 8 oz with or without the combination of another protein (e.g. coconut shrimp, kielbasa, ribs). Soup or salad and one side came with an order. I chose the Steak and Rib combo which consisted of a 6 oz serving of sirloin, half a slab of the house signature ribs, and my choices of clam chowder and mashed potatoes for the soup and side. The server brought over a cart that held the heated vessels. He demonstrated how to cook the meat and then placed a tray with a rock at my setting. I slathered the casino butter on the stone surface and then placed the sirloin to cook. The guidance for medium rare doneness was 15 to 25 seconds. The self-cooking and interaction with my fellow diners was what made this experience memorable. The clam chowder was the thinnest version I have tasted in a while. When I first looked at the cup, the broth reminded of me lemon chicken soup. The mashed potatoes were ordinary, and even the steak was plain with no seasoning added beforehand. There was salt and a cup of mayo-based sauce to flavor the meat. Since the kitchen did not have the task of cooking the sirloin, I thought the price should have been lower for a petite cut plus the ribs which didn't really stand out either. The service from the waiter was fine. What took long was the kitchen preparing the food even though we were their first customers. Maybe they had not pre-heated any stones until we had placed our order because I cannot think of why the other items would take that much time. I gave a 3.5 star rating for our meal at Black Rock Bar & Grill.

We started with the mac and cheese balls. Small portion of six and they were bland unless you dunked it into the sauce. Where was the pepperjack? Not bad but not what we were expecting. Dinner itself was fabulous. My husband loved his shrimp tacos. Generous with both protein and toppings. I went with the Ahi tuna California bowl. Huge bowl full of rice, crisp fresh veggies, creamy avocado and a solid portion of perfectly seared tuna. I loved both the sauces and mixing and matching each bite. The halved cherry tomatoes, shedded carrot and crunchy cucumbers really provided that textural contrast and colorful appeal. Yum. Service was fast, accurate and friendly. Atmosphere was very sports bar still but airier and brighter somehow. Plenty of TVs with the Masters on though. We took a prime rib dip sandwich to my dad and a cobb salad to my mom and they were equally delighted. My husbands already thinking about which app we'll try next time. We will be back soon.

Great classic rock music playing! The menu was really extensive for lunch, as they offered both the regular menu and lunch specials! Something for everyone! The table ordered Cali Club Panini and sweet potato fries , two Maurice Saiads, and a Reuben with kettle chips. We felt all of the lunch portions were VERY generous and VERY delicious! The Maurice salad guests liked the chopped lettuce and clever pinwheels (order and you'll see!). Wait staff was very attentive. Prices reasonable. All guests at the table were happy to have another place to go that was not adding yet another bottom line fee to the bill. Just food, drink, tax - and add your tip! Great place - take the time and go. Get off Ford road and the (yawn) chain restaurant row and find this one on Warren near Sheldon. The Canton residents at lunch plan to come back for the Sunday brunch advertised at the hostess stand. Great job, Local Tavern. Cheers!

Unfortunately both my soup and the spinach artichoke dip appetizer were only lukewarm at best. Very busy that night so probably the kitchen was busy . Love that they extended happy hour throughout the whole restaurant. It is actually a very good deal and a great idea to make it available everywhere. Now the only big negative that night . The live music was far too loud as others have indicated. We are going there to enjoy dinner , the primary purpose . Live Music is nice, but it should be in the background not like you're in the front row of a rock concert. Other nights it was not this loud, so hopefully it was the exception . Not a trend .

In essence, if you've had one pizza from the Big Three, you'll find they are they are very much alike. Growing up in the 1970s into 1990s, independent Mom and Pop restaurants served the best pizza you have ever tasted. Sadly, most of them have faded away over the years, but Maria's in Canton has real staying power and have been in business for over four decades. The owners of Maria's firmly believe in giving their customers the best service possible. They treat you more like family than just a number. They have always been one to think outside the box when it comes creating new and exciting products. Today, my coworkers and I enjoyed one of their truly unique concepts that was very delightful. No other restaurant that I know of, has ever offered a Thanksgiving themed pizza before. However, some creative genius who works in kitchen at Maria's let their mind run wild, and you end up with pizza that has a bread like crust, mashed potatoes for a base, then all the fixings like turkey, dressing and light cheese. To top it off, you can add gravy like I did, or cranberry sauce. If you ever have the chance, the interior at Maria's is rather interesting. You have a wide variety of liquor to choose from, and a whole lot more than pizza on the menu to choose from. Next time, I want to try their catfish.

The restaurant has many offerings such as Wally's chicken, pizza( by the slice, whole or bake at home ), fish, wings, chicken sandwhiches, fries, side dishes, desserts, and more. Their fried chicken is the best in the Plymouth/Canton/Livonia/Westland area. My family gets their fried chicken at least twice a month if not more. Give this place and their chicken a chance--you'll be happy you did.
