The actual building for the restaurant is nice. It has an open atmosphere but it needs to be cleaned. Our experience: We were seated very quickly. 5+ minutes (closer to 10) I asked someone bussing tables if they could find our waiter. We were sent someone a few minutes later to take our drink order. I asked if they were also taking the order and they weren't. That person took longer to arrive. My daughter ordered the breakfast buffet. No plates at buffet. Had to ask for plates. The only reason she wanted the buffet was for the mini waffles. They ran out. Had to wait longer. Came back to table still with no silverware. Drinks finally arrive. Still no silverware so no way to stir coffee. Asked again for silverware. 5 minutes later grabbed some from a table. Food arrived. Fries. Disgusting. Go across the street to McDonald's, Arby's, or hell even Taco Bell. I ordered a burger. Line cook needs to be remediated, fired or a new supervisor because my burger was gross. Bland, 1/4 of the patty missing. My son ordered chicken tenders. Again go to MCDONALDS! His coleslaw never showed up. This place has a huge systemic failure. So huge I don't blame the floor employees but someone in franchising, ownership, and overall management needs to think long and hard about terminating the employment of overall management and supervisors here. By the time we received our food it was cold and gross. If you ask for refills or any type of refill she looks at you like she's upset that you asked her for something. We went there last night, and we were promptly seated. They were not very full at all. Maybe 4 tables. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. A waitress and I made eye contact. Then we still waited as she brought drinks to people who were seated after us. Then we still waited. I watched a different waitress ask if the table directly next to us wanted dessert. Then we waited. No one had even asked for our drink order. No one ever came. Then we watched the 1st waitress with which whom I made eye contact with a few times take the food order of the people who were seated after us. So we just left and went to Al Rancho where we were seated immediately and given drinks, had our food order taken, while they were extremely busy, and had a party in the back, all with in 5 minutes. read more

Went there for lunch with husband and daughter. It was awful. Service was nonexistent. Salad, soup, and fruit bar LOL. Salad choices weren't terrible. Dressings not my fav. Seafood buffet NOT A BUFFET is an all you can eat of only fish, shrimp, clam strips chose only 1. The fish was good, the coleslaw blah, but not a buffet, fries and texas toast mushy. Not a great value for the money. Misleading on outdoor sign specifically went because thought a buffet. But redeeming after the horrid breakfasts we had a month ago. Came in tonight for dessert and coffee, they were not busy at all. After getting coffee we could not get any servers attention to order dessert or get coffee refilled. The manager and I even made eye contact, I waved for her attention and was again ignored!! I'm not sure what everyone was so busy doing but we left money on the table for the coffees and left. Our family decided to go to this big boy because we were over in Greenville. I will never go again we waited 50 min to get our food. Our waiter was rude and could tell that he rather be anywhere but there, and wouldn't come refill our drinks when asked two time but then brought them when he finally decided to bring us our check after we had been done eating for about 20 just waiting for the check. Then me and my youngest both had the Cajun chicken Alfredo and ended up with food poisoning. I never go back and I'd advise you not to go unless you want to be sick too. read more

I ordered my meal without mushrooms and it had tons of them on there. I asked for it to be redone and the cook was not happy about it. She said I can eat it like it is or wait awhile for her to redo it. My husbands plate had old cheese on it. His country fried steak was not country fried steak. I was something that was a perfect circle swimming in grease. His meal was supposed to come with fried eggs, toast, and hash browns. He got mash potatoes with a dark brown gravy only. The only good thing was the broccoli soup we split. Our Malta were okay, but they don't give you the containers they make the Malta in anymore with your glass. That's the best part. There's always a little extra in the metal container. We ended up not paying and I did leave our waitress a tip of $11 because it was only her second day there. Typical Big Boy cuisine in a typical Big Boy atmosphere. The staff has always been friendly and food has been consistently good. The restaurant is reasonably clean and the service is reasonably fast. The breakfast food would be 4 stars on its own, but the rest of the menu brings this down to a solid 3 stars (I would have gone 3.5 stars if I had that option). I've never had a bad meal there. I also can't think of GREAT meal I've had there. Good food at a good price, so it always meets my expectations. read more

Big Boy used to be a great place to eat. My last experience there will be my last. The dishes & silverware were dirty. The highchair that my granddaughter sat in had crusty oatmeal left on it. We didn't notice until she put it in her mouth. I ordered chili. It looked and tasted like the cheap stuff you get out of a can. It had been microwaved and they gave it to me with skin on it and barely warm. If they had to microwave it, they could've at least put it in a different bowl. Who's teaching the staff here? Don't let anyone tell you different, Big Boy is damn good. My experiences I've had solid attentive service. Burgers, Slim Jim, Breakfast Slim Jim + breakfast buffet are the way to go. All of the food we got was cold, and the bacon comes out like it's been cooked in a large batch and then left sitting there. Their sidewalks were very snowy and icy, they hadn't shoveled them and we witnessed a lady fall on them while carrying her toddler. Some days they are friendly and take the time to talk with you. I never see anyone watching the big screen televisions so maybe it was a bad investment? Our server started out nice and friendly, but ended up lieing to us. I asked if the buffet would be restocked, she said yes since there was still 30 minutes left of buffet time. So my son and I ordered the buffet. I understand that it takes time to make the food to put out so I got my son cottage cheese and myself some sausage and we waited and waited. I kept asking how things were going. My husbands food came out fast from the kitchen, the hasbrowns were half burnt and the other half not done (not too big of a deal). Finally they brought out some waffles, so I was able to get my 2 year-old this. Nothing besides bacon and waffles were restrocked after 30 minutes. Then our server let other guest go up after the buffet was over and just as they went up -they put out pancakes and the new people took all the them. When I asked if any more were going to be made they said no because it was past buffet time. I asked to speak to the manager. She didn't even talk to us. She had been MIA the whole time. Never check on the buffet. There was another customer stiring the food becasue no one had done it in a while. The manager said they would make my son a pancake since he didn't get any, so we contintued to wait. Then our server brought us our check. They never gave us a pancake and took a dollar off to compensate us. What a joke. I paid $20 for a buffect that I got cottage cheese, bacon, and sauage, and and two small waffles. It wasn't about the money - it was the non-communicating. I would have glady ordered from the kitchen had we known. The manager never went around and talked with customers, never checked anything or anyone! The bathrooms were disgusting too. We could not even wash our hands. It is sad to see. Wife and I ate there tonight, @ 4:30pm. She ordered Fish & Chips - me, Seafood Platter. Fish Platter cost $9 something. Her 2 fish, 1.5 x 3.5 inches, were drenched with grease, seriously. If you remove the crust fish didn't taste bad, crust on, you could taste the old cooking oil. Fries were hot, fried hard/brownish, chewy and she believes cooked in the fish oil. Cole slaw tasted like it had old and new slaw mixed together, she agreed with my review of it. I, he, had the Sea Food Platter, $12.99. One piece of fish, review same as her's. Also 6-8, 1/2 inch maybe smaller pieces of hard, brown, over-cooked shrimp. Menu reads clam strips...maybe 2 or 3, 1/4 inch hard, brown, over-cooked "strips" of clams(?), other than that the clam consisted of small bits and pieces, maybe a shelled green bean/pea or smaller. I could taste fish but with the crust on. The fish, shrimp, clams, and (3) hushpuppies all dark brown, hard and tasted like they were cooked in the same oil with everything else, along with the old tasting, brown, chewy fries. All tasted about the same - bad. Hushpuppies were good size, golfball. The coleslaw I tasted a little bit, it did not taste good, I didn't eat it. The cost was not worth it. Will not go back. 1 star because of the server and cash register person. Both very nice and wanted to know if I wanted to talk to the manager. Didn't, my bad. read more

BUT.....Our waitress was ignorant and rude and could have been fired over our treatment.We could tell she was probably getting off shift, and was in a hurry,besides the point. Maybe because our group was a head chef in Chicago, I managed restaurants for 20 + years so we know the ropes.She rushed us through our meal, kept asking if we wanted dessert before our food was half eaten.Collected our plates and asked if i was done?? I responded ," Do you want my plate too?" she told me, "No, take it home if you'd like".UGGGHHHHHH... What a slovenly young , unprofessional food-server. It simply shows you the lack of management and training skills given there. We are great tippers ,to average servers. Dropping $30. bucks is average.
