I actually really like this place I think I understand some of the criticisms, but I was very pleased with what I got here This is a Michigan based chain that specializes in burgers and thin crust pizza I've had the burgers before and I remember them being pretty good this time around. I had the thin crust pizza and I was very very pleased with it. They only have one size, but that suited me fine. The pizza kind of reminded me of Cassano's, which is a great chain from the Dayton Ohio area that I grew up with We also had starters of nachos and it was really difficult to stop eating them It's not the most extensive menu in the world. Bagger Dave's was just ok. Not really kid friendly. We came early, before dinner rush. We picked this restaurant because we wanted the kids to see the train.The train was broken. No crayons to keep kids occupied. The restaurant was pretty dark and the floor was wet and sticky. The pretzel bites and the SW egg rolls were good. The pizza was just ok. We didn't want to finish it. The burgers were big and delicious. The sweet potato fries were crispy and seasoned well. It was our two year olds birthday and he told the waitress. Worst policy ever - was told our large group couldn't park in their parking lot , even tho we were told we could just hours earlier!! , (we were staying at hotel with adjoining lot) we patronized the place the day we arrived , after paying our tabs and saying we'd all be back every day - we were told we couldn't park in their lot after all. To make things worse , they threatened towing and the Sheriff was called and responded. Make that make sense. Worst management/ownership decision of the year. If I could leave 0 I definitely would. Their manager/owner lost a lot of revenue from our 5 day rally in June . They said we could use the back part of their parking lot to park our trailers. They waited until we were an hour and a half away then called the police to have us towed. There were 100's of us that would have spent a lot of money. Very UNPROFESSIONAL DECISION. We stopped in after my sons soccer game with a table of 10. They prepared a table efficiently and the service continued to impress. Our food was above average for a mid-day burger stop. The train wreck grilled cheese was plentiful to split, burgers and the southwest eggrolls were all guilty pleasures enjoyed around the table. Beers on tap were also soccer mom approved. The service was good but I ordered the Crazy Train Grilled Cheese and was told it came with a cup of tomato soup or chili. I mentioned to the waitress that looked like an up charge on the menu, but she said it came with it so I ordered it. The sandwich was good but the tomato bisque was inedible (it tasted like burnt pizza sauce), absolutely disgusting. When asked how I liked it, I told her exactly that. Our server helped me make my decisions and I don't know how to find that honey mustard but I will absolutely check my bag at the airport to smuggle some home! Bagger Dave's blues burger is quite possibly my favorite burger ever. It is so delicious!!! Great meat, fantastic sauce, and that pretzel bun; yum! Plus their fries and ranch dipping are good as well. I always ask for them extra crispy and they never disappoint. While lately I've been grabbing my food to go, I do enjoy coming and physically eating there. It's a chill atmosphere and they have an outside patio. Service is always good. Complete disaster experience. Virtually nobody in the restaurant, hostess seated us and not a waiter or waitress came to our table for over 15 minutes. I had not been here in over a decade, so when a royal 'someone' from a tropical island paradise could not decide what they might be hungry for, a snow plow pushed us into their parking lot. We were not in a hurry, being it was her first time and my second, but one of the staff passed by our table wondering if our drink order had been taken by our waitress. She acted as if the abandonment of customers was a reoccurring side dish. So she took our drink orders as we decided what might be pleasing to the eye, stomach, and wallet. Looking at the prices I wondered what I could order and not get laughed at later; "You paid how much for what?!!". As neither of us were hungry much, but looking to eat before grocery shopping, I was hoping to find some dish that was not too much for too much. Since 'tavern' was in the name of the place, I decided to go with the staple of taverns everywhere, the fish and chips. She liked that the fries were called 'chips' as that is the proper name for them on the paradise island she is from. Of course she had some of mine and did not like that they were limp. To her mind, a lip chip is a good as a limp ... no, I cannot write what she said. The three 'fish' that come with it would get a fisherman laughed at if he had brought them home and claimed to have caught three. One, maybe, but not three. I'm not sure if they were super smelt or a small fish cut up, but they were not much to look at. Luckily, I was not hungry. When our drinks got to us (before the fish) mine was flatter than a pancake on Jupiter. I waved one of the staff over to let them know of the problem, but no offer was made to fix the Coke in my hand. Most people like to season their fish and fries (chips), but you could not find any sodium except in the sodas. Not one shaker of salt, but two rump shakers at table six. She didn't have a margarita, so maybe those took all the salt in the place. To make it worse she had a fish sandwich with 'chips' and did not look pleased as she would have been with a fish sandwich combo at McD's place. The only bright spot was the waitress that took over for the one that we never saw again. She was prompt and on point. Her highness has announced we are never to return, though. Haven't been to a Bagger Dave's since college in East Lansing so decided to try the GRap location. We went on a Friday afternoon just prior to happy hour. Although we didn't partake in the happy hour specials, they had some good ones with beer, cocktails, wine, and apps. Restaurant was clean and pretty empty when we went which meant great and fast service. One thing I loved was that the fries were ample! Lots of times places give you just a few fries but these were piled up and great; just added some salt and pepper. The burger was thick and juicy with ample toppings and well balanced. I'm a fried fish snob and the fried haddock sandwich was one of the best fish sammys I've had! The cabbage with tomatoes and tartar sauce balanced well with the crispy juicy haddock. I could eat that sandwich weekly! We will return for sure read more

We were jetlagged and in a foul mood because our GPS couldn't find our hotel... So we decided that if we ate first, we would be in a better mood to deal with the geographical challenges. Britney it was on her second day and she made our stay so delightful. What a great sense of humor and a way of connecting with the customers... First off I wanted to say that I had the BEST service at Bagger Dave's!! I was really impressed by how fast and friendly our server was and very helpful in explaining the menu. This is a casual burger place, with a train going around the ceiling and a fresh spot to take a family. We went during happy hour and got a huge portion of nachos and pickle chips for half price! I was recommend the pickle chips, but thought the nachos were just okay. I wasn't a fan of the cheese they used for the nachos. I did really enjoy my crispy cheese bacon burger! The crisp MADE the burger. It came with 1 pretty decent size patty and the fries were good too. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a casual decent burger. read more

Portions are good, prices are meh, taste is good. Burgers had a few small bits of bone in them. We ordered cajun fried, but they messed up and gave us regular fries instead. Overall, everything was quite good. Burger patties are thick and filling. Fries were good, though a bit salty (and soggy, but I assume that's because we took them to-go). Took my 10 and 4 year old for some burgers since I didn't feel like cooking and I hadn't had a burger in months. We all got burgers. My 4-year old didn't eat hers. She only ate the apple sauce. But, I digress. My burger was tough. I actually can't remember the last time I had a tough hamburger. It was overly sloppy too but I'm not sure why because it was just the basic American burger. We had eaten here once before and the burgers were good, but even my oldest didn't seem to like hers much. Those girls love burgers! The fries were not fresh and even tasted freezer burned. Stopped in on a Friday night with the kids around 6 pm and we were seated immediately, they weren't overly busy. We've been here before, so I knew what we were getting into food wise (burgers), and was pleasantly surprised about how good the food was on this visit. I had a make your own burger - they've got a lot of variety for toppings so you can go whichever flavor profile you're interested in. I would suggest you stay away from the "pink" doneness on the burger - it ends up with the burger falling apart in your hands because the meat is so juicey. The fries were only okay....not crispy enough. The big fault here was the service - slow and not very knowledgeable (we asked about beer on tap, she couldn't tell us and pointed us at the menu.. Which didn't list the seasonal items we wanted to know about). We had a similar experience our previous time as well. First time in Michigan. First time here. I had a recommendation from the guy at the car rental counter. If you can't trust that guy, who can you trust? Burgers are their thing. They have other stuff, I just didn't look at them. They offer s choice of dipping sauces for your fries in case you just can't to another round of ketchup, or if your living dangerously. I went with the garlic buffalo sauce and the wife had a garlic aioli. They were both good, you know, if that's your thing. We each had a burger and those were strong. I'd eat that again. It was happy hour all day which meant most apps and all draft beer were $4. I had a 4 beer flight for $4. They don't have 50 selections like some places, but there are several good choices on tap. Here are the basics about Bagger Dave's: they are a casual eating, gourmet hamburger place with local craft beers on tap. They are famous for their thick cut, skins on, fries and dipping sauces. They offer other standard lunch options - salads, chili, soups, and mac and cheese. The atmosphere is train themed with vintage pictures of trains and a real working train that runs along the top of the dining area. Now the real question: Is the food good? Yeah, it's ok. Is the food worth the price...meh; I'm inclined to say no. I'm not a penny pincher when it comes to food, but I had a hard time justifying the price for my burger and fries lunch meal; nothing about it jumped out at me as being so special that I'd be willing to pay a little more for it. I feel like I can pack more taste into a smaller price tag when it comes to lunches in the area. That being said, if you are a burger person, you may find it to be perfectly worth it. The dining room is clean and tidy. The staff was friendly although I thought they could've had more servers as ours was a little slow trying to handle several tables at lunch. They don't advertise themselves as being healthy and true to that, my black bean burger was heaped with cheese and the creamy Siracha dipping sauce for my potato chip-like sweet potato files, was tasty and rich. Will I be back? If I find myself with a group and I lose the coin toss as to where to go for lunch, then yes, I may have to come back.
