Bikes, locations for rides, selection, and all with no pressure. We rented four bikes for an hour, and they treated us like we rented them for the whole day. They took the time to explain everything to my littlest. Even though she's 10, he talked to her professionally and like she was an adult. The ride they recommended was the highlight of our Big Bear trip. Great people, great shop and a great time.

Now let's begin, Check-in was fine, but things quickly went downhill. We were initially 3rd in line for the ski demo 'expert'. He seemed to be quite knowledgable to his credit and took his time with each customer. However, despite us waiting patiently, he started having people who arrived much later, cut in front of us. We somehow go from 3rd in line to being 16th. We stayed patient up until this point, until he got a little too excited with this younger girl behind us. This was the final straw. This is when I finally spoke up that we've been waiting a long time and needed to be taken care of first, when he got extremely salty. At this point his mood had shifted quite drastically. He starts by saying I notice you put 'Intermediate' as your ski level. For context, I was on the Mammoth Ski Team for 2 years when I was much younger. That being said, I hadn't skied in a few years by then and grew a few inches so I didn't remember my exact ski height. Continuing throughout our conversation, he says "Oh if you were an intermediate skier, you'd be able to know what your ski height is." Then proceeds to say this 3 more times throughout our interaction. The ski boot fitting station wasn't that helpful either as he had given me an ill-fitting boot that had a massive divot by the toe section. I proceed to hand it back and ask for him to get me a new pair after explaining the situation. And he blankly looks at me and asks if I need a new pair. This store was very disorderly and condescending. As an Asian customer, I feel like preferential treatment was given to others. This was not my interaction with Dustin (the owner that responds to these Yelp comments), but one of his employees.

I hit a bit of misfortune with my boot, the boa lacing system actually broke while I was on the mountain. I fell a lot (likely attributed to inexperience) and actually fell while boarding the ski lift and the boa broke right off. When I went back to the store, the employees were very gracious and gave me a rain check for the next time I visit. They informed me that it's relatively rare for these to break and I believe it. I still had a great time. It was unlucky, but I'm excited for next time. I spent ~$35 for the boots and board and I was at Snow Valley all day.

I had the best experience at Big Bear Boards! My family and I go on a snowboarding trip every year for the holidays. This year we decided to check out the mountain in Big Bear Lake, CA. We rented snowboards from Big Bear Boards and ended up visiting the shop every day just to talk to the staff. The owner, Vincent, and the GM, Jul, were so friendly and welcoming to my family. They gave us suggestions on what to rent, where to eat, and what to do while in Big Bear. Also, the shop was in a great location with beautiful views. They also decorated for the holidays. You can tell that the staff has a passion for snowboarding and pride in the service they provide. While we were renting, a staff member offered to help a customer who purchased a broken board from Craigslist. The customer was really upset and the staff member was able to calm her down and help fix the issue. It was not a typical service that is offered, so it was great to see it done (especially in the busy season!) Thank you Big Bear for showing us a great time while in the area! I started snowboarding this year and have been to multiple shops to rent boots and a board. I was most impressed with Big Bear Boards. They always demonstrated great service, a knowledgeable staff, quality gear and great prices. I had the opportunity of meeting the owner. He was extremely personable and genuine in providing me the ideal rental set up in order for me to have the most fun on the slopes (none of that cookie cutter rental bull). So I ended up with a cool and skill appropriate rental package that lead to my best boarding experience! I was so excited that wanted to buy the snowboard rental. After another inspection, Vincent (the owner) installed new hardware, ironed on another fresh coat of wax and the board was as good as brand new. Amazing! So if you want to find a shop that actually cares about the sport and your experience, then come to Big Bear Boards. read more

Rented here a long time ago.... came back to find it better than ever. On a whim I decided to head to bear solely because the snow is incredible this year, no time to get my board and gear from storage. I rented all my gear, the boards were great. Absolutely no problems what so ever. The nice guy that helped doubled checked to make sure everything was in order before I left ( this is not the case elsewhere, i.e. My biggest pet peeve is getting on the mountain and something isn't working) you have a lifer here. I'll definitely be back! I might sell my board it's so much easier just to rent it. Cheers to the best snow in years the place looks great. read more

Best place in Big Bear to get all of your gear, boards, rentals....anything!! Stoked we discovered this shop. I have a cabin up here but left a board back home, didn't think we had time to hit the mountain. The owners Vincent and Jewel are amazing people! We ended up seeing them at the mountain and went riding with them. I've been to every Board Shop in town, look no further, get all your gear at this place. Came in on what seems to have been one of their busiest days. All of the staff there was very helpful and friendly. Trace, one of the technicians working there offered to help fix an issue with my board. I went around to the repair side and he had my binding all fixed up in no time. I was expecting to pay some sort of repair fee but he told me not worry about it. Overall great experience at this shop! Thanks again Trace. read more

Having never been skiing or snowboard before and knowing absolutely nothing. I found them on Yelp and thought' I'd give it a try. They have a good selection and walk me through the different components and the pros and cons of each. Is so convenience, bear mountain parking is at the back of the store, don't need to load and unload the equipments in the car. I would definitely recommend this store. read more

I had some boots I bought from a friend that were too small for me and I was trying to get them exchanged at a board shop up here; I was turned away from 3 other shops before someone recommended big bear boards. The town is bike friendly and we avoided so much traffic and hassle getting around town for shopping, meals, and exploring. We had a basket on one bike, bungee chord on one, and my backpack made it easy for us to do most shopping we needed for the week without using the car. We reserved our bikes well ahead of our visit to ensure we'd have what we needed. We selected GetBoards because they offered overnight pricing and a range of bikes to meet our needs. We reserved two cruiser style bikes for around-town use but I upgraded to an adventure style bike since it was more comfortable for me to ride. I'm 6', my wife is 5'3", and we were both very comfortable on our bikes. The prices were fair and competitive. We know this because we shopped around before reserving. There was a modest, discounted overnight fee, but with our multi-day rental discount e bikes were an affordable addition to our stay. Matthew helped me when I picked up the bikes and he was friendly, informative, and super patient given it was our first time using e bikes. He ensured I knew how to use the bikes, checked that the headlights were working on both bikes, and set us up with helmets, locks, and chargers before sending us off. We will most definitely rent e bikes from GetBoards the next time we're here. I highly recommend GetBoards for top notch customer service, excellent and well maintained bikes, and a range of rental options to meet any needs (including bikes with kid seats, trailers for children or pets, baskets, and more).

We got on the mountain and his bindings started MOVING!!! like literally his foot was shifting left to right as he was riding down the mountain. He fell so hard (multiple times) he nearly got a concussion (probably did, his headache lasted 2 days). took the board to the repair shop and the workers were literally shocked.... I will say the workers were very nice and understanding when we returned the board and offered a refund. 2 days later tho, he gets charged over $400 from the shop...???? why?? cuz they think he stole their sh*t a** board:)))) A worker apparently didnt file his paperwork. they were very apologetic and got us another refund but this place is an overall MESS!!! plz dont waste ur time and money, go literally anywhere else!
