Dog-friendly kayak rentals, and extremely friendly and amazing service! I found this spot on Yelp when looking for a dog-friendly water sport rental. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we were on the kayak, the team was so helpful and sweet to us. They made the check in process easy, and gave us clear instructions on where to go on the lake. My dog was so chill on the tandem kayak, and the overall experience was so much fun. The rental was for 2 hours at $60, but we got tired after about an hour. Even then, it was still super fun! read more

I was lucky to reserve the board I wanted to Demo/rent (Bataleon Wallie 154). Also rented kids snowboard set up. Glad I did it and great 1st rental experience. Easy process and very organized. In and out within minutes. Return was simple, outside drop off, just show them your text receipt and done! To speed up the rental process, fill out the rental reservation ahead of time. We had the chance to kayak while at Boulder Bay. We opted for a 11 am launch time so we could find parking in the lot since it get pretty packed and people were getting tickets parking on the street in the no parking zone. Reservations were easy to make and you pay when you check in. Check in was quick. Staff went over the instructions, gave us our life jackets and we walked to the lake to self launch. It took a few minutes to walk over. We left our kayak wheels on the shore next to our shoes and hopped in and spent two hours on the lake. There were plenty of boats on the lake so waters were choppy and it was windy. We definitely got wet on our excursion. The lake is cold. I don't know how people can swim in that cold water. We returned to find our shoes in the same spot but someone took our wheels and switched it with their broken ones. Don't forget your sunscreen. I put plenty on every exposed part except the top of my feet apparently and ended up with a nice sunburn. The kids said kayaking was the highlight of the trip! Huge shoutout to GetBoards for such friendly and easy rental service for snowboards, skies, and the necessary equipments to make the activity accessible. The basic package of shoes and board was $30, +10 for the helmet (if I recall correctly). They are also beginner friendly and the person fitting me was so welcoming to teach me how to put the shoes and bindings on. I went in the morning of mid-December, and there was not much of a line. They have the whole process of renting the package to snowboard laid out from the moment you book online, coming into the store, getting boots fitted, boards selected, even if you need snowboard clothes. The return is outside and also super efficient. We booked the beginner package for days, but only used for 2 days because weather and health issues. My husband has been coming here since he was a child. So like, over 30 years? Never had any issues so he continues to come here every time we go to Big Bear. I finally had the chance to go inside this year because my kids were [tears] now old enough to try skiing so we all came to rent our gear here, including for myself. The staff were all very chill and helpful. We really enjoyed talking to them! We came on a mid-week evening and morning so they weren't nearly as busy as it would be on Fridays through Sundays, so maybe that's why we were able to appreciate these awesome people who man the rentals. We rented skiis, helmets, and snow clothes for everyone except my husband who already owns his own clothes from his high school days. I now have an idea what kind of skiing outfit I would want to purchase for myself but it was great to have the option to rent inexpensively for my first real skiing experience. It was a no brainer to rent our kids clothes because we usually only come once a year and kids keep growing out of their clothes. Rented ski equipment here for a weekend trip. Loved that they were open quite late until 9:30 PM on Friday night so we could pick up our equipment the night before. Online reservation is seamless - reserve in advance to save time in the store! Prices were good and appreciated the extra 10% coupon on the website. My son and I have purchased hats from this location before but yesterday we took the whole family kayaking on the lake. Rented 2 double kayaks (included kayaks, life jackets, paddles, and got a waterproof lockbox for my phone/wallet for an extra $4). $102 for 2 hours. The private dock is just across the street with plenty of parking as well. We had a blast. It was pretty windy as it can be this time of year on the lake but if you've kayaked or canoed before, no big deal. You could also choose to stay inside the large cover but we took them out into the open water. It was warm, 70ish air temp, and the water was nice and cool from all the snow melt and recent winter temps. Kids had a great time together which is always a win and I got a good arm/back workout with all the paddling LOL! My daughter said we definitely have to do it again so it was worth every penny! read more

I typically don't use Yelp, but after my recent experience, I felt it was important to share my thoughts. I was happy for once my husband didn't throw away the receipt to be able to get a name. Upon entering the shop, I encountered Meghan, and I must say, her demeanor came off as quite unwelcoming. I could sense some frustration, which was understandable given that it was the busy Fourth of July weekend. but it made me hesitant to stay. You're a tourist attraction town that should handle fast moving environments. At one point, I even suggested to my husband that we look for another bike shop because of how we were greeted. Fortunately, my husband encouraged me to stay, and I'm so glad he did! We were helped outside by Josh and another gentleman named Michael, who completely turned our experience around. Their friendly attitude and thorough guidance really made a difference. They provided excellent customer service and made us feel valued. I would recommend the shop consider how employees greet customers upon entry, as first impressions are so important. As a business owner in Arizona, I believe it's crucial for any customer-facing role... I would never allow someone to greet customers in a discouraging way, as it can impact business negatively. Looking for the best kayaking spot in Big Bear? Getboards has some great rates for kayaking, paddle boarding, and bike rentals. BEST OF ALL (you can reserve an online appointment and avoid waiting!) After booking your appointment, you can check-in at the store and you can pay at the counter to receive your wristbands. After that, you walk across the street at the dock and you'll find all the kayakers paddling away. The instructors will give you tips and advice before you start your activities. Just remember to set an alarm to come back to shore for the next group of people. AND to stay within range so you don't go too far. I believe there were 3 options for kayaking: 2 hours, 6 hours, and 8 hours! I'd definitely come back here again, oh and the staff were friendly! read more

Last weekend(President's weekend), our friend bought brand new ski boots here for a very good price. A big thanks you to Tony the ski specialist.
